One of the last few common cultural elements widely shared. Teared up already at "America the Beautiful" on the bagpipes. There was something extra special about this recorded moment in time.
You can knock Americans for our issues with the healthcare system, and our sometimes crazy political parties, but patriotism is alive and well in almost all Americans. For most of us, singing the National Anthem is something that is ingrained in us from a young age. Something we take pride in.
I am forced to agree with you on this, Jessica. However, I am Not proud that, although most of us know the words, many of us are not aware that Francis Scott Key wrote the words while watching a battle during the War of 1812 (against the British, mind you) and was worried that the British soldiers would capture the American fort where the battle occurred and that the flag flying over the fort was still an indicator that the British troops had not won and taken the fort over and raised their own flag on the battlements.
Then why is it that at all the events I have been too in my life, (and I AM an American) where the National Anthem is played, Hardly ANY ONE is singing it in the crowd? Especially if they have a singer performing it, or even an instrumental rendition. In a situation like THIS, THEN they will sing. It IS a very hard song to sing for most people, because of its range from low to high notes.
Americans notice when foreign tourists come here and ask if we are required to fly the flag everywhere. No. It's never required anywhere other than gov. Blogs and on military bases. We fly that flag out of love, care, commitment, pride and immense honor.
I am a 41 year old man and I am not afraid to say I have tears down my cheeks. I also stood the whole time but when the crowd made it more beautiful, I stood a bit taller. This Texan loves his country🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Nobody is going to leave that dude out there hanging when his mic fails. As others have mentioned, pretty much all of us know the words and the tune, even if we're not musically inclined. Good Job fellow Americans!
There's a video whereby the USA played Canada in a Hockey Game and during the USA's National Anthem, the mic went out and "ALL" of the Canadians sang the American National Anthem...... One of the most emotional exchanges of international respect I've seen in a while!
Some 31% of Canadians know the US national anthem but don't know the Canadian one. Only 7% of Americans know the Canadian anthem but don't know the US one.
Canadians are truly our brothers and sisters. We may occasionally tease or even criticize each other, but lord help you if you do anything to either because the other will be there to back them up every time.
This happens at a Canadian hockey game,Nashville vs a Canadian team, sorry for my crappy memory, the Canadians sing the anthem when the mic cuts out.GREAT SHOW OF RESPECT.
I love hearing bagpipes play at serious, memorial services/funerals. There is just something about the haunting sounds of bagpipes that just fit the emotions of those types of situations.
A guy we sailed with on Lake Tahoe used to bring his bagpipes when we would sail to Emerald Bay and hike up the mountain behind where we camped in the evening to play the bagpipes...hauntingly beautiful!

When I was in 4th grade, each student had to memorize the Star Spangled Banner as the poem. Once all of us mastered it as a poem, the teacher had us sing it together. I felt so proud.
@@unholylord6747really? Its a song thats usually only sang by one person with a microphone 🤷♀️. Everyone could have just stood in silence but they chose to use their own voices to make sure the best song ever created was heard, that’s called patriotism. Im sorry u don’t agree
An Acapella rendition of our national anthem always gives me chills. But especially when a crowd demonstrates that we do indeed know, and have pride in it!
That’s the way we are over here. I remember when I was a kid in school the first thing we did at the beginning of every day is stand up as a school and Sarah Pledge of Allegiance and sing our national anthem. Every classroom would get up and look at their flag and say these two things in every classroom in the school.
I choke up and get teary when the announcer announces that the anthem is about to be played/sung. Being American is so instilled in Americans. If you pan the camera through the stands anytime the anthem is played, a lot of people sing right along anyway. When the mic goes out, they just amped it up and belted it out like we always want to but don't out of respect for the hired singer. I don't know why sports events even hire a singer. The crowd would be perfectly happy to sing it with their whole heart and soul.

As mentioned before it happened in Canada when Canadian fans sang the American anthem In Toronto near the end of the anthem and in Edmonton where the whole anthem was sung. It also happened in Detroit where Americans sang the Canadian anthem. Nothing like good neighbors.
Sadly, I couldn't sing beyond Oh Canada if my life depended was on it. But then again, I'm a Southerner and we don't live and die by hockey the way y'all do up North. Great game tho!

My husband passed in Aug. and we had bag pipes at is burial. It was amazing ! I’m America we no our anthem! And even if we are not singing it goes through our head as we listen! Most of us know we are blessed with our freedom.
I have seen this happen quite a few times and there are several videos out there like this with different sports. I seem to recall a little league base ball game where something happened, the teams lined up on the sides of the field and then they made an announcement that the Anthem was not going to be played, but the stands went and sang the anthem without the audio playing. I have also seen clips of hockey games where the Canadian fans sang the US National Anthem when the singer's mic went out and that one really choked me up. There was then a follow up video to that one where the Nashville Predators returned the favor and sang the Canadian Anthem as a pay back for the Canadians singing our anthem. This is the way it should be, we honor and respect each other and we stand side by side with our friends around the world. If only it could be this way everywhere.
Everytime I see a video like this it gives me chills and makes me proud of our great country and her people. Also that singer had a great set of pipes on him to be heard above the crowd like that
We will never let our national anthem go unsung.🇺🇲. We will always stand, place our hand over our heart and, face the flag. Believe me when I say I and many Americans get emotional with tje Star Spangled Banner...it is a true sense of pride
i forget the exact clip, i think it was at a baseball game. a child was suppose to sing the national anthem, she got so nervous in front of 50,000 ppl and started to forget the words. some officials and players stood with her to sing along help her out and the crowd joined in too. really wholesome stuff

As an American I absolutely love bagpipe music, especially when performed by the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. The song "Highland Cathedral" is one of my all time favorites of theirs right next to "Amazing Grace" by them.
I’ve watched this with you before and even after all these years(59) singing the National Anthem still brings tears to my eyes and goose bumps to my arms! May God continue to bless the USA
@Beesley I love watching these video as well. For me the 2 most amazing videos of the Star Spangled Banner being sung/played were when canadians sang our natiional anthem at a hockey game in Canada(us Americans returned the favor later at a Nashville Predators hockey game and sang Oh Canada). The other time was when the Queen irdered our National Anthem to be played outside Buckingham Palace after the 9/11 attacks. To see not only our National Anthem being played in your country, but the citizens of the UK standing there, holding American flags and singing our anthem(some with tears in their eyes) just made love the U.K. so much more.
Epic!!!! I love this country!!! And our citizens ALL of us born here or born elsewhere, we are one we must love each other help those in need work hard and live our best lives!!!
You guys should react to the Kentucky state choir singing the National Anthem in the hotel lobby. It's so beautiful! It's like, 17 stories of balconies and everyone is singing and it sounds like angels!!!
I went to the first Cardinals baseball game after Jack Buck died (a LEGENDARY broadcaster) and his son Joe Buck who was broadcasting and is also considered one of the best said his dad's favorite anthem was when the crowd sang it so we did just that. Not a dry eye in the house it was life changing
The most amazing singing I have ever been at was a high school wrestling match and the recording failed and the wrestlers at my son's school stood there and started singing the National Anthem all on their own. Picture 15-18 yr old doing this on their own with the crowd joining in. Still gives me chills remembering it.
Thanks! The first time I realized how much I loved my country was during a singing of this anthem. My husband was newly stationed, with the US Army, in West Berlin. I had recently joined him there. We went to a movie at an American post theater, where the national anthem is always played before the start of any movie. The anthem began, we all stood and I placed my hand over my heart, and started to cry like a baby. I had grown up an Air Force brat, and was now an Army wife, and used to moving around. I was excited to be in Berlin, but all of a sudden, I understood what a great country the USA was, and is, and I was proud and happy to be American, and homesick, all at once. God bless America!
We do live in the best country in the world and I am not ashamed or mad about it and any old kind of way and very proud of it and any American would be proud of it but you have to understand how we got that way and how many wars we fought to keep our freedom to keep what we have
That brings tears to my eyes and a lump to my throat…… Thank you ALL, for the humongous display of kindness and respect for our country and our anthem. This patriot appreciates you with her whole heart..

here's me voting to replace the star spangled banner with america the beautiful as the national anthem. have you checked out the other 3 verses of the current national anthem? very bad. and the tune doesn't even match up with lyrics, although that's the least of my problem with it lol
@@mariebrown4966 America the Beautiful is merely a bastardization of the British God Save the Queen- or, at the time it was conceived- God Save the King.
@@mariebrown4966 I was just pointing out why it probably wasn't seriously considered as a National Anthem Contender- it's already in use as a song of patriotism and glory For Another Country. Never mind the beautiful lyrics- it's a British song glorifying their resident monarch.

Our national anthem was written by Francis Scott Key. He wrote it during the war of 1812. Just an fyi. BTW, I enjoy bagpipes. Wishing you both a speedy recovery and a Merry Christmas 🎄🙏🏻
@@Gutslinger I know. I posted the info for those who don't know the history. From what I understand, they have followers from many countries in the world.
The words are by Francis Scott Key. The music is an old drinking song called “To Anacreon in Heaven,” and does not require the singer to hold that killer high note. I suspect it is also easier to sing while drunk.
"O say does that star spangled banner yet wave O'er the lad of the free and the home of the brave." To me, these are the most beautiful words ever written and they never fail to move me when I hear the Anthem sung, especially by a crowd of sports fans.
Since you watched this one, I highly recommend that both of you check out the Kentucky All State Choir singing the national anthem in a hotel. I think the best version is the one from 2019. amazing is an understatement. Its a yearly tradition at the Hyatt Regency in Louisville, Kentucky since 1987. Part of the magic is the acoustics that this hotel atrium has. They aren't the only ones who have taken advantage of this unique hotel though. The Colorado All State Choir has also performed, "down to the river to pray" back in 2019 at this same hotel and numerus other songs over the years. I highly recommend you check out the both videos. However if you choose one, definitely the 2019 version of the Kentucky All State Choir singing the national anthem.

I'm of English and Scots-Irish heritage. My ancestors first landed in Virginia in 1700. The bagpipes are often heard in America and Canada to reflect the strong Scottish and Irish heritage of both countries. And it's almost mandatory for Americans to sing along with the National Anthem at sporting events. You put your right hand over your heart and salute the flag. It's a way of showing devotion to your country and the ideals of America.

I've been watching reaction videos all night, and my right hand has been on my heart the whole evening. 😁
And that Ladies and Gentlemen is what makes America, America. 🇺🇲🇺🇲
Teared up ❤️❤️❤️
Teared up in Tennessee too! 🇺🇸 ❤
So singing songs together makes America, America ???
Every time!💕🙏💕
One of the last few common cultural elements widely shared. Teared up already at "America the Beautiful" on the bagpipes. There was something extra special about this recorded moment in time.
Love this country
I am 60+ years old and hearing our national anthem always brings tears to my eyes and chills.
Also the “healthcare” system is neither health nor care but that’s not the people’s fault so…
Then why is it that at all the events I have been too in my life, (and I AM an American) where the National Anthem is played, Hardly ANY ONE is singing it in the crowd? Especially if they have a singer performing it, or even an instrumental rendition. In a situation like THIS, THEN they will sing. It IS a very hard song to sing for most people, because of its range from low to high notes.
@@Cassxowary we have some of the best healthcare in the world, with the most medical advancements. Shut up and sit down.
Love this. Most would describe me as cynical but the US anthem regularly brings tears of pride. Wish I'd been there to add my voice.
On behalf of all the United States, respect right back to you two. God Bless You Both.
Yes! So much respect. Thank you!
@@julianakleijn9254 Can't we adopt these two as our own?

4:24 I love how the guy singing held out his note for “wave” and the crowd let him hold it then they continued after ❤🤍💙
There's a video whereby the USA played Canada in a Hockey Game and during the USA's National Anthem, the mic went out and "ALL" of the Canadians sang the American National Anthem...... One of the most emotional exchanges of international respect I've seen in a while!
Yep. I believe this may be what you're looking for ua-cam.com/video/oMIYOvmvGwE/v-deo.html
Some 31% of Canadians know the US national anthem but don't know the Canadian one. Only 7% of Americans know the Canadian anthem but don't know the US one.
I love Canadians🐝🤗❤️
Canadians are truly our brothers and sisters. We may occasionally tease or even criticize each other, but lord help you if you do anything to either because the other will be there to back them up every time.
JW: We're basically cousins 🇺🇸 🇨🇦.
They better show up at my funeral some day!!
My hubs wanted bagpipes at his funeral. My sister helped to higher a player for the service.
A guy we sailed with on Lake Tahoe used to bring his bagpipes when we would sail to Emerald Bay and hike up the mountain behind where we camped in the evening to play the bagpipes...hauntingly beautiful!
@@xo2quilt beautiful story!
It Amaze me how we come from so many cultures untied as one
America Loves You Two.
I love how you can still hear the performer sustaining his notes over the crowd.
I think his microphone started working at some point in the song. Pretty impressive if it didn’t.
@@GilaMonster971 I heard it cut back in a couple times, but you can hear him without the mic after each stanza as the crowd singing dies down.
As a people, we always pick each other up when needed.

The one that really gets me is when it happens in Canada at a hockey game & THEY sing it. That gives me goosebumps & makes me cry.
Call me biased, but that right there shows what that proverbial "American Spirit" is all about. When things go wrong and a potential disaster is looming, we all pull together and contribute what we can.
Thinking about it, yeah, America in a nutshell.
The coolest part, is there were only a few US'ers there, this was a Canadian crowd, and they sang it for their US crowd.
Deeply touching.
This. Exactly this.
When I was in 4th grade, each student had to memorize the Star Spangled Banner as the poem. Once all of us mastered it as a poem, the teacher had us sing it together. I felt so proud.
Oh yeah ❤️, a crowd full of real patriots they don’t need a mic national anthem gets heard one way or another!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Crowd full of real patriots cause they sang a song together lmfao anything to call americans Patriots i guess
Yes, I miss those days.
Yes and prayers in public schools too.
Let's get it rolling (everyone do 1 line).
I'll kick it off: "I pledge allegiance..."

Millie I cry too, it hits something deep inside when I see or hear people unite regardless of their differences. Thank y'all for doing this and I pray you both have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, healthy 2022! 🎄🎅❤🙏🇺🇸
The true dream of America being ruined by globalist leaders and corrupt politicians.
Same. Brought a tear in my eye. Very powerful.
Love our country. Love it when people lift their country up. I think that is one of the best times I have heard our Anthem sang.
I am an American and, for my entire life, I have gotten teary and had the chills whenever I had heard or sung the National Anthem. I got tears and chills before it even started because of your respect for our Anthem. Thank you!
The song the pipes and drums were playing was "America the Beautiful".
I love the bagpipes! My ancestors are English, Scottish, Welch, and Irish. So it's in my blood.... 😁 ❤🤍💙
When I first saw it, it gave me chills. They panned through the arena so you could see the people singing…powerful 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸
There is another similar video of Canadians singing our anthem for an American hockey team playing in Canada when the singers mic also failed, that one is a real tearjerker too seeing another country showing so much respect to our country. I love our brothers and sisters up north as well as all of y’all across the Atlantic and down under. 🇺🇸🇨🇦🇬🇧🇦🇺
I love how the many voices in the beginning kinda mesh all into one voice near the end
The sound of bagpipes is very emotional to me. I cry every time. If they played happy birthday I'd cry...they sing to my soul
i forget the exact clip, i think it was at a baseball game. a child was suppose to sing the national anthem, she got so nervous in front of 50,000 ppl and started to forget the words. some officials and players stood with her to sing along help her out and the crowd joined in too. really wholesome stuff
Patriotism is a wonderful thing. Nationalism not so much. I have tears and goosebumps...loved it!
As an American, I can not love, respect and appreciate this post enough. I'm so very glad I subscribed so long ago. I'm always looking forward to the the next post. Love you both..
We do have our problems, however I do LOVE my country. ❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸
One of my favorites is the one of Canadians singing it at a hockey game, when this same scenario happened. 🥺
@Beesley
I love watching these video as well.
Isn’t it amazing how good a mass of humans sound? I so love our national anthem ❤
Vids like this make my heart swell with pride to be an American.
Im from America and you guys have more respect for this country then a lot of people from America. I love this country and thank you.
You guys should react to the Kentucky state choir singing the National Anthem in the hotel lobby. It's so beautiful! It's like, 17 stories of balconies and everyone is singing and it sounds like angels!!!
Happy Christmas you two. Thank you for this video. It gave me goose bumps. Love from New York.
Our anthem sings in our hearts. I love this beautiful country! 🇺🇸
Love "America the beautiful" on the pipes! Great opening. And the anthem... wow!
We do live in the best country in the world and I am not ashamed or mad about it and any old kind of way and very proud of it and any American would be proud of it but you have to understand how we got that way and how many wars we fought to keep our freedom to keep what we have
People may be divided now. But this is one thing that still brings souls together.
That brings tears to my eyes and a lump to my throat…… Thank you ALL, for the humongous display of kindness and respect for our country and our anthem. This patriot appreciates you with her whole heart..
The first song played by the bagpipes was America the Beautiful. Another great song that has many times been suggested to replace the current national Anthem. You should check it out.
The Ray Charles version of "America the Beautiful" is amazing, I would love to see them react to that one.
here's me voting to replace the star spangled banner with america the beautiful as the national anthem. have you checked out the other 3 verses of the current national anthem? very bad. and the tune doesn't even match up with lyrics, although that's the least of my problem with it lol
@@mariebrown4966 America the Beautiful is merely a bastardization of the British God Save the Queen- or, at the time it was conceived- God Save the King.
@@barbarahecht4617 so what it has beautiful lyrics and is not a glorification of war.
@@mariebrown4966 I was just pointing out why it probably wasn't seriously considered as a National Anthem Contender- it's already in use as a song of patriotism and glory For Another Country. Never mind the beautiful lyrics- it's a British song glorifying their resident monarch.
I remember that Super Bowl and when the singers mic actually started working he lowered his voice dramatically to be able to blend in with the crowd and you heard him every now and then it’s kind of getting in the sharp notes but yes, it was really beautiful and united! You never scream that anthem.. you become one beautiful choir! Basically 100,000 people doing a sing-along and they sounded great
Everyone of us feels it just a little bit hearing our anthem, it’s undeniable. You guys should visit sometime, could spend your whole life in the US and not see everything worth seeing.

What a beautiful moment. Thanks for sharing that!
Still makes me cry! Dont care who sings it. Just sing it with respect and give it ALL you got!
Our national anthem was written by Francis Scott Key. He wrote it during the war of 1812. Just an fyi. BTW, I enjoy bagpipes. Wishing you both a speedy recovery and a Merry Christmas 🎄🙏🏻
I love bagpipes too! Want them played while scattering my ashes by the Mississippi River!!!!
They watched the video of the Star Spangled Banner a little while ago.
Ughhh this one got me 🥺 as an American I’m so proud of my country, and this is what it needs to go back to.
Every time I cry but this really, really got to me especially .
"O say does that star spangled banner yet wave
O'er the lad of the free and the home of the brave."
To me, these are the most beautiful words ever written and they never fail to move me when I hear the Anthem sung, especially by a crowd of sports fans.
Yes! That is stunning!🐝🤗❤️
I instantly thought of that video and was going to suggest it. Gives me goose bumps!!
@@karlicat1 i get goosebumps every time too. being a band kid in high school, the audience really made big performances so much fun even after the countless hours of practice. and i can only imagine what it felt like in the atrium as an audience member or a performer.
I am a 75 year old, very patriotic American and love this clip so much. Thank you, both, for sharing it! My country used to be a lot better than it has since my generation (born in 1948) took over and let morality, and everything else just go to blazes literally and figuratively. Anyway, thanks again for this proud and heartwarming moment.
I'm kinda taken aback that you two were surprised about the bagpipes. Keep in mind, we Yanks are literally your cousins. That includes the Brits, (Anglos) Welsh, (Celts) Manx, (Celts) Cornish, (Celts) Scots (Gaels) and, Irish (Celts) that migrated to "the new world".
It’s the unity of it that gets me emotional. Now if we could take this level of unity, but extend it through the entire world.
I sang America the Beautiful when the bagpipes were playing & sang our National Anthem before the mic went out!! Love this reaction guys!! Thank you!! Hope yall have a Merry Christmas!! 🎄🎁❤
I appreciate how respectful you both are! Honor comes from honorable people.🙏
The bagpipes were playing "America the Beautiful" on the way to the National Anthem
Bravo to these people for picking the ball up and scoring a touchdown. We do LOVE our nation and we are proud. Do we have warts and shortcomings? Yes we do. But this is our home. Our loved ones are buried here. We have so many freedoms and rights. So much of the world can only dream of our lives and our ability to express those freedoms. I enjoy you two's videos. I want to THANK YOU both. Take care of each other. And stay safe. America - America !!!!!
Hi guys! No matter which "state" we are from, when assembled, and the mike cuts out, there is no question how we will; respond.
now, re:bagpipes, I suggest the following "go's": fife and drum, bethpage civil war band (provided most music, on set and in credits of the movie "gettysburg"), native american 'big drum' music. Also, with 'the big drum' music, there might be some 'fancy dancers' , somehting more to behold.
The respect and pride you have for our country makes me very proud and patriotic! I love how much you love us! If you ever visit Green Bay, Wisconsin in the US you have a home cooked meal waiting for you!!
You need to react to Canadian fans singing the US anthem when the mic fails at a hockey game in Toronto. Impressive. You also need to react to Lady Gaga singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl. Will send shivers down your spine. Never more emotional than her rendition.
I loved how they all just turned it up when the mic cut. No confusion, or waiting, just full steam ahead! Go USA!
You guys should watch a reaction of "Kentucky All State Choir - National Anthem - 2019" if you really wanna hear a great anthem. They sing it in a hotel lobby and it sounds AMAZING!
I loved the beginning with the song “America the beautiful “ played with bagpipes
We don’t even allow the Anthem to touch the ground here. We will pick it up if the singer drops the words. Love this country.
