LOL, wish I knew of you when we remodeled our house. We hung and spackled it all. Dad was a contractor so I learned all the trades. It has saved me thousands $$$ through the years.
Great info, well produced and presented and boy does the hobby need it! Mind the dark red on black for your red green colorblind viewers... about the equivalent of light grey on a blueprint.

Looking forward to following this journey. Fairly new ham here (licensed 4 months ago), I'm just starting to equip my "shack". Have my dual band vhf/uhf rig, will be buying a ICOM-7300 soon for HF. I've been buying shack components... telescoping antenna mast, coax, grounding rod, copper ground wire, arrestors, antenna switches... etc, etc, and I'm ready to stat putting it all together for an operational shack. Really curious to see what results from of the tool chest surgery! .

I thought about doing my ham shack in a small room like yours but then I worried about heat. All those electronics put out alot of it and im in Georgia where it gets 110 in the summer for several weeks. So obviously I decided not to go in the closet and be in the garage with a window a.c. and plug in heater :)
Totally understand Mike. Living in Florida, I know how miserable the summers are. There is an AC vent in this walk in closet that is likely oversized, because it seems to make up for all the heat generated by my gear, including the lights for shooting the UA-cam videos. Thanks for watching.
Just stumbled across this - I'm excited to watch the series. Curious, do you have a video on your HF attic farm? I have a fan dipole in the attic - it works, but boy, does it pick up a lot of noise! regardless, thanks & 73 de ki5gx

I'm the same, anything that goes in the attic is more noisy than when I get something up in the back yard. I will definitely do a attic antenna farm video some day.
Setting up my first shack this weekend. Drilling through the house. What is the best placement for the coax? Level with the radio? Or lower to the floor? I just don’t want stress on the rig or coax. It’s the only thing I’m unsure of. Thanks for any input. Love the videos. I subscribed
No worries on this @Cbro-621. You should go off the height that is convenient for getting through the wall. My coax box is low on my wall, my radio is waist height. Just run the cable to the radio and flex it slightly as needed to make the journey. Just make sure there is plenty of cable so all turns are "gentle" rather that "hard"; most cable has plenty of flex to accommodate this type of run.

@@HOAHamRadio Downstairs is someone’s condo and I don’t think the old lady that lives there would let me have a shack there. And she is the HOA president so I stay as low key as possible around her.

I was watching and what are you using for mounting your computer monitors?
This is the very mount I use for my monitors. I used a single mount rather than a double so I could get the two monitors placed exactly where I wanted them. amzn.to/42VbIko

Needs a window
It doubles as my UA-cam studio, so a window would kill my ability to control lighting. Otherwise, I would enjoy looking out and watching the squirrels.

I'll have to make sure to not let that happen again.
