Thanks, Jim! This is really helpful. I'm just starting out, and I feel like you've put me on the right path for success. :) Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Much appreciated.
I've had a strange relationship with cw throughout my life, the first time I touched a key was when my dad explained an electric circuit to me he set up a battery, bulb and an old key he had as a switch. I don't know why he had a key because he didn't do cw or radio other than cb in his truck. that led me to building a little spark gap station but I had nobody to talk to so that fizzled out. Then I was using that key for science fair and someone stole it. fast forward I went into the Army in communications, I looked into getting my ham license then but was too lazy to learn cw so that fizzled out. then years after I got out, I got the bug to learn it, I started practicing, got my tech and general. still struggled learning it well enough to copy, then got sidetracked building antenna's and bs'n on 40m. then took a break from ham for around 8yrs. the other day I had to tune up a CB antenna for one of our customers and seen my little ft-817 in the bag and got the bug again so up went the wire and up went the station. made some QSO's did some DX. started learning cw again so I can try pota, that looks like a lot of fun. I'm starting to copy some on the air bu I got a way's to go yet. but yeah, the pattern's is what's helping me this time and the app's are better.
Wow nice builds
thx
came across this as a random you tube suggestion glad i clicked it now makes perfect sense im a musician so ...... might be about to learn morse code lol thank you for the suggestion and for that big hint thank you from a dull overcast england

This video confirms what I thought would be the best method to learn this😮
Excellent advice and method.
My late father was on RAF transport aircraft during WW2 as a radio operator. He mustered up as a pilot but he was, throughout my lifetime, always doing Morse code on his chair arm. He said exactly the same as you. Apparently you can get so attuned, you can tell who's sending the message by their 'voice'. x
Tnx Jim, I never tried the singing method. I will do it when I'm not around my key. I'm an ex CT-2 and a retired RM-1. Tnx agn K9PDQ 73 ar
It’s all nice and good, but I don’t see how learning 40+ different rythms would help getting it any faster.
Thanks sir. ✌️
I love Morse code! I learned it about 35 years ago when I got licensed. Can’t get it out of my head. I read the signs all the time like that. I don’t think I’ll ever forget it. Working CW with other operators is a blast. Some of the best operators out there.👍👍👍🇨🇱🇺🇸
What scale is she?
1/535 scale.
@@ultimatebucco3181 didn’t know they made her in that scale!
Thank you so much for this video. i would like to visit this video again in case I have questions, but for now I am just glad to have come across this video. I too live in Texas. I'm hoping I can make a few friends out there through the art of ham radio and morse code. I notice that I have memorized the alphabet for the majority, but have a hard time receiving messages. Maybe it's because they are sending in a "sloppy" manner so it's hard to copy. I also need improvement on sending as well. I'm sure I'll get it in time. :)
Thank you for these videos, Jim! Very helpful. I’m new to CW and hope to connect with you on the air someday. (Be gentle!). KO4GQS
Thank you sir, I need to slow down this video 0.75x to make it clearer 😅
Iam from India 😅
Very nice instructional video. I learned this white boy has no rhythm lol
That's a very nice shack, inspiring. 73 de OO4M
Love your shack. One of the best tours I’ve watched!
He loves his mommy❤
Reminds me of what i think the throne room in heaven looks like❤
There is only one easy way. Perseverance!! Get yea to LCWO and listen on line, "CQ CQ CQ DE" will come first, grow from there. If you cannot understand a language you will never speak it. It's not about characters, it's about vocabulary.
Hi there . I like your video on your radio shack. My name is Paul de HS0ZLQ G0MIH. I would like to know how you get on with your full size g3zrv antenna. Best 73. Paul
Thank u sir, for me its so helpull and i think its so very easy now learn the morse code, I 'am from the Phillipenes My amature callsign is DV1QEH TNX 73's
Thanks for the tips. I you have another lesson on receiving and taking down code
Decided to start learning for the hell of it. Who knows when it could come in handy. Great video man.

Jim! This was interesting. I always wanted to learn American Morse Code. Where can I find the equipment to continue to practice? Thanks!
This is fantastic! Thanks for doing this.
I just took the Tech and General test last weekend. I made my first contact today, and now I want to learn Morse now. KK7TIW Thanks!
The problem is Devil runs the world. He is lier and murderer. This is the reason why Hitler got the power, but Christ was executed as "blasphemer" and "rioter" by denunciation of clergy. That's why we've got the Gospel about the God's kingdom. Jehovah would put everything in order. The dead will be resurected and we'll meet our beloved ones again! :-)
When I was young, I learned Morse code when I was a Boy Scout, but I wasn't particularly good at it. Currently, I am relearning this old skill and am also interested in becoming a radio amateur. There are quite a few radio amateur clubs in Belgium, and they regularly organize training sessions. This video was very insightful and educational, thank you very much for that! However, I have a question about the definition of WPM. Does it mean 'words per minute'? Not all words are the same length, right? So I was wondering how this is counted or how the speed is determined? Thanks again!
Morse Code is old and obsolete same for you.
Me when I’m a dick for no good reason:
Hey friend, I've got an old shed on the property and seeing you do this gave me a bunch of inspiration. Thanks, 73!
Great Job! learning the hole sound of the word has helped me. I remember hearing your call on 40 or maybe 20m a few times. one day I'll catch ya and say hi .. 73 Tom
Wow i would do that😊
did a bird crap on your shirt?
Thanks for making this video. I’ve been wanting to learn Morse code all my life.
Perfect thank you so much. This method is helping me the most, everything is starting to sink in now. 73
Great video. Thanks
Hey Jim, just wanted to say thanks for this video, along with the previous one! Just to let you know, you're helping us younger folk too. I'm a 19 year-old college student working towards my general license. Until then though, i want to practice my morse code. Hoping to hear you on the radio soon! KN6DJE
Are you still helping people learn Morse code
GOD bless
멋지네요~ ^^
Awsome recommendation! Thank you kindly
Hi, is it worth leaning the code if I’m not intending to ever transmit and send? Thank you so much.😊
No problem for me, it works. What ever method works use it if not mix and match. G3DEN
I am a former radio officer and we started out learning morse code at 12 words a minute at school. Once we knew all characters it took about two years to increase our listening speed to 30+ words a minute. I used morse code daily for a couple of years in the mercant navy but that is 40 years ago. However, I can still use is today to at least 20 words/min without any practice.
