Mary climbed up the ladder to Heaven. There she reigns “Supreme” among great Motown singers who shared a space for her - such a collection of great singers. They live on through their music that they still share with us.
Sadly this era in music will never be repeated, a kid when they had their hey day, happy tears listening to this, inspite of the troubles it was great being a kid during the late 60s-mid 70s...
Even if only one true Supreme remained and the other two came aboard, The Supremes did exceptionally well without Diana Ross with this one and Stoned Love
I'm 59 and grew up with all this wonderful music and I have no doubt if we had more positive up-lifting and well produced music like this for our young people to listen to and understand instead of the negative disrespectful crap they have today race relations in America would immediately begin to change for the better..
I love this song by the Supremes. Jean, Mary, and Cindy were the best vocals together. No disrespect to Diana, but these were the best Supremes! Ms. Wilson and Ms. Ballard RIP you are definitely missed!

The new SUPREMES hit big with this fabulous recording. These girls carried the Supreme torch when Diana left❗️ Motown music was never offensive- just fantastic.
The Supremes after Ross left did not have the same success. . . .Jean left, and the lineup keep changing. . But then girl groups with gowns were on their way out.

@@jduwayne1 I Agree 👍💯.. Diana Ross Not The Only Supreme!! It's Other Supremes That Came After She Left!! Jean Terrell 🎤 Carried The Tourch 🔥 With Mary Wilson 🎤. And Cindy Birdsong 🎤.
They were 3 beautiful singers that did well, I was born on 61 and have such found memories of all the great music at picnics, birthdays, family gatherings, life was so beautiful families were close, men were in love and romanced their women and kids were kids, we were truly blessed to grow up in that era 💖🍾🥂⭐️💖
Just fabulous music from singers who could sing. Nothing offensive, just beautiful music. Mary was one of the best & the new Supremes hit big regardless of Diana leaving❗️

Magnificent!!! My favorite Supremes song. If Motown had stayed behind Cindy, Mary, and Jean they would have been much bigger but they produced some great music. This remix proves it.
I completely agree - and why not make them bigger and make all that money? They had the talent. Of course, if Jean was never really comfortable, that was an issue, but they looked and sounded great and were lovely to look at. Oh, well ...
you're damn right, but, remember berry didn't want to release "what going on" album ...shows how much he knew....sometime the BIG HEAD takes ove and make the wrong decisions for you.....
Berry never wanted Jean, as soon as she was announced he wanted to replace her with Syreeta Wright, but Mary put her foot down and said no. Because of that Berry stopped caring about the group, not that he was going to care much anyway
Oh goh yeah they are beautiful!!!! Black artists back then suffered discrimination like water fountains and bathroom usage in the 60s. Maybe this song came out after all of that but the early Supremes were performing back in those times.
I always thought that Frank Wilson was one of Motown's most underrated producers/songwriters (Frank wrote this with guitarist Vincent DiMrco), and your edit proves it! And of course Jean Terrell more than holds her own in her debut as lead singer of the post-Diana Ross Supremes!
Wow... How beautiful, What a production. The best of everything, ,arrangements, mix, Mary & Cindy's chants,, The Voices.. Beautiful.. Classic Hit.. Miss Wilson & her 70s Supremes never missed a beat.

Very true, Stoned love outside of Wilmington,Delaware was an underrated song. I used to listen to WAMS Wilmington,DE when I lived in Newark,DE in the early 1970’s before I went into the Navy. WAMS played the Supremes Stoned love a lot, and also Up the ladder to the roof. WAMS also played the Originals Baby I’m for real as the Originals were from Wilmington,DE.

these women were great without Diana Ross no disrespect to Diana Ross but these women we're fabulous they had the voice and they were good Motown lost.
Motown originally tried to mold Jean into a glamour Soul ful Diana Ross sans the wigs Place in the middle or far right or Left She Was the Main Lead and Gave the Supremes a more Soulful image and a few Solid gems like Stoned Love..Everybody's Got the right to love(Forgotten gem, and Up the Latter).
