Hey Scott, I’m from Lloydminster Alberta. My wife of 10 years is from a small town south of San Carlos City Negros. When we were there in January, I rented a a DV 150 for two weeks then I bought a new Honda ADV 160. The ADV has the same engine as the PCX but better suspension and tires.
Scotty, you don't need the ABS brakes until you do. Spend the extra money, get the ABS brakes. I've been riding motorcycles for over 35 years, including thousands of kilometres in Asia which doesn't make me an expert but the ABS could mean the difference between weeks in hospital or just a near miss. Or worse.

The cool thing about the PCX is you can fit two North American vloggers on it at the same time..... A bike would be so good for the channel. I'm glad you are making that move.

The sub ghosted him and never showed up and had a fake Facebook account when Mark contacted him. I sort of felt sorry for him forma second or two then realized what a simp he is.
You find it boring here, Scotty? It's the same here in Burnaby. Sometimes, when I go to the grocery store, I'm the only white guy around. I don't mind a bit of immigration, but I didn't think we'd be replaced! Anyway, I'm off to southeast Asia in the spring. To hell with this country!
The footage of yourself and your Dad, choked me up, its coming up to Dads anniversary when he passed away, he had dementia and the good ole monkey juice sped up his demise (my opinion) 5 days after the jab he became ill, he didn't recover. Having depression/anxiety and on meds I've realised having a few UA-cam channels keeps me busy and not think about things too much, Scotty - You are a good guy, I wish I could go to the Philippines, but afraid of taking the plane or boat. Good luck on your new journeys, watching your content relaxes me, thankyou ;)
Get both Smart and Globe pocket wifis. Sometimes one is better than the other depending on location time maintenance etc. Or just a dual sim phone and share the wifi from the phone instead of carrying 2 more devices.
I always need a trip home every so often to remind me why I like traveling and why I like SE Asia. It puts everything into perspective (Good and bad..). Be aware that the mobile Wifi things just use a regular mobile 5G signal. If there is no mobile signal, they won't have a signal either. It is the same as tethering to your mobile signal (Mobile hotspot). You are probably best off figuring out which network has the widest coverage and get on their best plan..... I could point you in the right direction for a few other countries in SE Asia but for mobile internet in the Phil's...... struggling and waiting for signal is the best I have ever managed! Nice video!
Always good to hear from Scotty Boy. IMO ABS brakes are worth the extra money. ABS can save your azz from going down when doing a panic stop in the rain.
Such a blessing to experience and see also from this distance, Scott, you and your father being together and spending time over there in the Vancouver area again, just enjoying yourself and enabled to touch the inner essence of each other, for a while and floating on any god given remaining lifetime. So happy for You. And very pleasant to know that you are doing well there now, going on what were your initial intentions, motives and final quarter of year plans. I hope your friend Derek will also show you the Honda ADV 160, better ground clearance and good for bumpy dirt roads with the bigger tires…in my opinion the perfect bike for the Phils…I bought one and toured Leyte and Samar. Might fit you better than the PCX
Why is everyone so confused about WiFi? Yes you would connect to the pocket device using WiFi connection. But that pocket device transfers your connection to the global internet over a regular cellular connection. Same like how your phone connects directly. The connection is as good as the weakest point in chain so what’s the benefit of the pocket WiFi if that uses a simcard like your phone does as well? 🤓
Scotty, hello from Lipa, Batangas. Like I told you before, you figured out how to live in the Philippines without a GOV pension and that is a huge accomplishment. I look forward to your return and the expanded video selections your new scooter will bring. One last thing, when we are back at our house in Washington State, we occasionally will drive up to Vancouver to go get some of the best chicken siopao ever. We now have a Max's in the Seattle area, so no longer have to go to "Hongcouver" for that.
The only time I have ever been to Canada, my wife and i went to Victoria. We both loved it. I tend not to enjoy larger cities. I gre up in a very small town (under 200) in an Indiana farming area. Your traveling vids in the Phils are my escape. So I am very glad you may be deciding to do more.
I've been wondering how your trip back to Canada was going, such a different experience from South Korea and the Philippines....... Glad it's going well. As to scooters and brakes generally combo would normally refer to the rear brake being somewhat combined to the front one...... Apply the rear brake and the front brake will also be applied.....
If anyone wants to get a scooter or motorcycle in the Philippines. Be aware that in order to drive them on the expressways they must be 400cc or bigger. There’s a couple Taiwan brands that have 400cc scooters. Yamaha T max is 530cc, Honda X-ADV is a go anywhere 745cc scooter.
Make sure you get both a Smart and a globe pocket wifi because some areas are good for smart and some are good for globe I dont know if there is another good network but there could be take care scotty boy
Biker here. I have ridden everything from a light scooter to an 1100cc sportbike. ABS is useful for riding in the rain/on wet roads. But in the past literaly millions of riders all over the world never had a bike/scooter/moped with ABS. If you are a careful rider you don't need ABS. Just never grab the brakes, apply them gradually and only in a straight line. Release the brake before you lean into the bend. A combi brake system is probably a setup where the front and rear brake can be applied with only 1 lever on the handle bars or 1 brake pedal. I have seen it and used them on Moto-Guzzi bikes. This is good because you always use both brakes, also in a panic emergency stop. It is even more important whenever you have a baberoonie on the back seat.😉 Enjoy your new scooter!
Keep in mind you can't ride anything under 400cc on the tollways. ABS and traction control (Honda calls it HSTC) can save your life so I personally wouldn't try cut corners on those things.
Direct from North America - Scotty Boy 😉. Missing your (mostly) daily updates. Scott, check out the Honda ADV in addition to the scooters you mentioned.
lol….when you are in the hospital with a P100,000 bill, you are going to wish you paid the extra P20,000 on a ABS breaking system. Remember it’s tax deductible. Don’t cheap out buying a scooter that you can die on….
Great to hear from you Scotty. We were a little worried there for a moment. Get what needs to be done fixed up and live your life. Getting a bike will surely make life easier and more interesting. All the best, bro.
Hi SB. Im a pretty experienced rider in the US, have over 100K and never dropped it. Have rented many different scooters in the Phils and never had a problem. Bought a Honda with the combi brake which means your left handle does both front and rear brake while the left handle is only for the front. Grabbed the front brake a little too hard in the rain and went down fast. If you do decide to go that PCX route, only use the left combi brake in the rain. My next bike will probably be the ADV 160 with ABS.
When looking into personal transport in the Philippines you might consider a All-Terrain,(Street/Dirt) Motorcycle rather than a Scooter. They are higher off the ground, Have the advantage of off road driving, Lighter weight and better suspension. And if you get a flat tire or breakdown they're easier to push.
Hadn't caught up with you in a while, glad to see you are home safely. I didn't realize how lucrative having a UA-cam channel could be. Although, it's not easy recording and producing something of quality, which you do. See ya when you get back to Phils. Like the old motel commercial, "We'll leave a light on for ya!"
Taxes for your business. Anything related to the expense of having your business should be able to written off. Many times it is very simple with a receipt and a handwitten note related to the receipt. If you drive the scooter and video at the same time, shows that the scooter is a business expense. If you have an office room in your apartment, or space, then part of your rent can be written off. Good luck, stay warm.
Scotty, the "combo" brakes mean "combination", which means the front brakes are disc and the rear brakes are drum. A lot of small motorcycles are like this. If you upgrade to ABS, then you get front and rear disc brakes. Hope that helps.
yes a couple days ago my friend convinced me to spend the extra money to get abs... he said u wont need them much but the few times u do need them they could save u a lot of problems
@Regular_Guyph good call. Not only that but both sets of brakes are the disc type and that in and of itself is an upgrade. I think it's worth the small extra price. Certain things are ok to cheap out on, but brakes are not one of them
Not true unfortunately. Not all scoots with abs have a rear disc brake, not even the yamaha aerox. If you have the dough, a Honda adv will have a rear disc. Priced close 170000 pesos. Not sure about the the nmax.
Just to add an option to your master plan. Because in Canada we have good social plans even if you lived elsewhere, if forced to, you could retire here and and because you havent paid into retirement plans, you would qualify for Guaranteed Income Supplement and other assistance programs like sales tax assistance, heating cost assistance, food cost assistance. And more. And theres way to maintain health care by livibg more than six months a year in Canada. If i were you I would find an accountant who knows about ways to partially benefit from your birth country. This would also apply to many other countries such as European ones that are properly set up to benefit the people and not just the rich.
@@ZJ-vm4yx Hi, I was talking about when he retires. I know of an older Filipina who came here and only worked for about two years at a part time job and is now in her 70's and getting about $2000 a month or maybe a bit more. I am not familiar with any program that's for 6 months but she's drawing a Guaranteed Income Supplement that's indexed to the cost of living. I have a concern that Scotty might end up without the support systems that he can get. There's also the problem of his wife and him not earning enough to support her family, that is her parents. Scotty might be better overall in being a seasonal "snowbird" and basing himself and wife in Canada where by living rurally it's possible to live quite well on low income, even including yearly fares to elsewhere. But of course the best plan would be multiple businesses that are not dependent upon any specific location. Documentaries might be a good next step perhaps. Have a good one
What a coinkidink, I lived in Richmond, California growing up. I’m going back to the Phillie Willie on Sunday. I can’t wait! Stay safe and see you there!
nice to see you made safely. cherish the time you have with your mom and pop both of mine died last year and i really miss them have a good time in Canada probably pretty cold there now I know here in new York its getting cold.
ABS is worth the extra money for the safety! Knowing you can brake harder in a panic situation without locking up the front tire. Without it, youll have a bad habit of not applying the front brake hard enough. Especially after almost wiping out on wet roads a few times
Hey Scott, keep in mind, even with the pocket WiFi, you still have to be able to get a signal for it to work. There are lots of places that have none or very bad signal reception. Your pocket Wi-Fi won't work if it can't latch on to a signal somewhere.
Hey Scottie Boy, Glad you are reconnecting so that later you have no regrets. There has to be something about Canada that you really appreciate over the Phils. I just came back from a work/vacation in Italy. As beautiful as Italy is, I realize that the open spaces in Canada are a real plus. In my younger years, I was a nomadic traveller such as yourself, but then settled into a 40 year career. It has allowed me a lot of stability- financially and with lots of prospects to work on different projects. However I have been watching a lot of S.E.A. VLOGS over the years yours included and dreaming of a new life say in the Phil’s. I haven’t had much of a family life in over 30 years, so this could be my chance. Old age is creeping up so maybe it’s too late. Any comments from you would be appreciated. Home is where your heart is, but what if you don’t know where your heart is? Thank you
its really fate.. some guys find their dream life by chance.. for example you meet a girl online and you go to visit her in her village.. this village would never have been on your radar but bcuz u met this girl u arrive in her hometown and u meet her and her family and they are all perfect and you grow to love her little town and u feel comfortable buying a land there and next thing u know 20 years goes by.
I'm tall, and I find PCX uncomfortable on longer drives. Aerox has a very small fuel tank, so you will be stopping for gas a lot, but is a really nice bike, I have one for scooting around Chiang Mai and love it. For longer drives, N Max is probably your best bet, very comfortable and lot bigger gas tank. Generally speaking they are all great bikes, and as they say in Thailand "Up to You"
Buy a Honda ADV, much better than the nmax or aerox. The 150's are much cheaper now that the 160 was released last year. Add a box on the back and use a carry on size backpack, underseat storage
Hi, I hope you have a nice time visiting your family. The more you make it up to see your dad, the better. If you don’t mind me offering a bit of advice regarding, I might suggest while you are there to make sure your Dad had safety handrails installed in the shower. Even better might be a shower bench. The longer ones that have two legs in the tub and two outside are better and safer since you can just swing your legs over if a tub is involved.
Scotty, please don't forget to get a good helmet to wear and get your motorcycle license from the LTO office in the Phills. I totally agree with you on your choice of the Honda. They make the best motorcycles/scooters in the world. I own a Honda CB1100 and ride here in California. Best of luck to you man! And blessings to your father, it sounds like he is going through a tough time. I went thru this with my dad a few years ago before he passed away. It was tough.
What a great update and wonderful moments with your dad! #memories How sweet! I’m really surprised how cheap the motorbikes are and that sounds like a great idea! Take good care!!

I may be going to PH around the same time you go. I'll fly to Vancouver then overseas. I wish I could go with you on the same flight. That would be a blast
I live in Tokyo, and as an American I must file taxes every year. I believe that the US is the only major country on earth that requires this. We get a x-pat tax exemption for $120,000, last I checked. That said, i know plenty of Americans here who don’t file. For now, the US Gov doesn’t care, unofficially of course.
For a novice driver as well as an experienced driver ABS can be a life saver, especially on the dirty and/or wet roads of the Philippines🇵🇭. Why not consider the Yamaha Tricity 125 ABS at P146k? The extra front wheel gives much more stability and breaking power. When I had a bike my greatest fear was loosing grip at the front wheel in dirty or wet curves. I crashed once that way, ended in a shallow ditch, no damage to me or my bike😁 Greetings from the Netherlands🇳🇱
Great to see another video scotty boy unfortunately as were get older we dont realise our parents are getting older also...cant wait till your back blogging in ph hope you can be around legazpicity in July I will be there then and would like to buy you a coffee
Don't waste money on a extra device to haul around, especially now that tourists have to keep re-registering their SIM's when they time out. Get a decent 5G capable phone that supports tethering for data. This also gives you the option of a lower speed connection where 5G isn't supported yet. Check the menu's, the phone you already have may support tethering (acting as a WiFi hot spot for other devices)
I bought a Honda Elite 110 without ABS and drove it all year round even in winter in Wisconsin. On snow days I had to clear snow so I drove a truck but once the roads were cleared I was riding again, even in the rain and zero degree temperatures. When I first got the bike it was summer and I rode in a Tee shirt and shorts but once it got colder I started buying motorcycle gear. Armored jacket etc and became accustomed to wearing it and continued with summer protection the following summer. One spring I was riding at 55 mph and the car in front of me was coming to an abrupt stop. I hit the brakes and the rear tire immediately spun out from under me and I was sliding across the road at 50 mph. My full face helmet hit the mirror and I am not sure what else. My heavy glove got scraped down to the insulation. The armored motorcycle jacket held up very well but you could see abrasion. I was wearing heavy snow pants with padded knees over jeans. The snow pants were worn through, the jeans were worn through but I stopped in time before my knee got a scrape. I don't know if ABS would have made a difference.
Great video Scott, my plan is to go to the Philippines also. Derek purchase me a PCX. So, I would have it when I get back their. You will love having the freedom of your own scooter. I rented a scooter from Derek (Q Adventures) for the month I spent there and it was great. Hope to see you someday when I get over there.
At least the food in Richmond is more delicious now than when you lived there 22+ years ago. Winters are still cold and seems to be getting started early this year.
This is a good plan Scotty boy, looking forward to your future scooter travels! I have been riding motorcycles for 40 some years and Hondas are really great bikes...the best. I know I'm a week late on this post but if yah read this the only thing I want to add is I'm always wishing you the best and I hope you have or are building a safety net for your retirement years while you are still relatively young. I know nothing about Canada's "social security" program but here in the states you have to contribute "x" amount of money for "x" amount of years before you are eligible to collect at 62 (or older if you want full benefits at 67).
I got a z650 here in the states, and ABS breaks have only kicked in with wet roads plus hitting the breaks hard while going over 70mph. I can't imagine them being useful on paved roads over there unless you are being stupid.
Hi Scotty, I hope you will enjoy your time back to Vancouver! If you had succeeded in school and studies and had become let's say a good lawyer, accountant, etc would you still want to live in Philippines or you would stay in Canada?

The cool thing about the PCX is you can fit two North American vloggers on it at the same time..... A bike would be so good for the channel. I'm glad you are making that move.
Just for info... the people that clean windows in toronto hi rises get danger pay. If you don't own the company you can expect to make 75,000 + My find that owns the company pays his 3 employees over 75k, and I would expect Vancouver it's much much higher. Degrees mean shit, trade school is the winning ticket
Glad to see you post again and looking forward to your travel. Note: your buddy Mark Thornton got trolled by a subscriber when he went home to Louisville. The sub said he could use his truck and help him move his valuables out of his storage locker to ship to the Phil’s.
I am also sometimes the only white guy at the grocery store in Ontario.
You seem like a good dude. Hope you find that filipina that helps you live the simple life
Get both Smart and Globe pocket wifis.
Nice video!
I wondered about this.

Keep in mind you can have the rear shock absorber replaced with a taller one. Increasing the ride height. It will improve the ride comfort as well. 🤓👍
Hello from Bellevue WA! How long have you lived in PI?
The only time I have ever been to Canada, my wife and i went to Victoria. We both loved it. I tend not to enjoy larger cities. I gre up in a very small town (under 200) in an Indiana farming area. Your traveling vids in the Phils are my escape. So I am very glad you may be deciding to do more.
I've been wondering how your trip back to Canada was going, such a different experience from South Korea and the Philippines....... Glad it's going well.
As to scooters and brakes generally combo would normally refer to the rear brake being somewhat combined to the front one...... Apply the rear brake and the front brake will also be applied.....
ahh thats what combi means okay thanks man
If anyone wants to get a scooter or motorcycle in the Philippines. Be aware that in order to drive them on the expressways they must be 400cc or bigger. There’s a couple Taiwan brands that have 400cc scooters. Yamaha T max is 530cc, Honda X-ADV is a go anywhere 745cc scooter.
yes so need to stay off expressways but if your just going town to town you can easily stay off them
Make sure you get both a Smart and a globe pocket wifi because some areas are good for smart and some are good for globe I dont know if there is another good network but there could be take care scotty boy
It is even more important whenever you have a baberoonie on the back seat.😉
Enjoy your new scooter!
Keep in mind you can't ride anything under 400cc on the tollways. ABS and traction control (Honda calls it HSTC) can save your life so I personally wouldn't try cut corners on those things.
Good to hear from you again Scotty, enjoy your time in Van,
Safe travels and I hope your time with your father is memorable and positive.
If you want to ride the beaten path and prefer scooter, give the Honda ADV a try; it's basically an off road version of the PCX.
Listen to this man Scoot
Direct from North America - Scotty Boy 😉. Missing your (mostly) daily updates.
Scott, check out the Honda ADV in addition to the scooters you mentioned.
Scoot....listen
lol….when you are in the hospital with a P100,000 bill, you are going to wish you paid the extra P20,000 on a ABS breaking system. Remember it’s tax deductible. Don’t cheap out buying a scooter that you can die on….
Scottie is old enough to remember cars without ABS. You just need to know how to pump the breaks properly.
Great to hear from you Scotty. We were a little worried there for a moment. Get what needs to be done fixed up and live your life. Getting a bike will surely make life easier and more interesting. All the best, bro.
I feel the same. Stickman. ( yes I wash dishes at a Casino. Great pay) but I also really enjoy Asia..Philippines & Vietnam for me.
If you do decide to go that PCX route, only use the left combi
brake in the rain. My next bike will probably be the ADV 160 with ABS.
Sorry, the right handle for the front brake.
Scoot...listen up ..
Welcome back to Vancouver! Hope to get to Philippines soon as well🎉
Taxes for your business.

@@ZJ-vm4yx
Hi, I was talking about when he retires.

With the scooter and more access to more villages, the name of the channel should be “Regular Guy Reborn”
Hello Scotty ! I am back in California. I was in Cebu for 3weeks and one week in Palawan… hope you remember me?
ABS is worth the extra money for the safety! Knowing you can brake harder in a panic situation without locking up the front tire. Without it, youll have a bad habit of not applying the front brake hard enough. Especially after almost wiping out on wet roads a few times
Hey Scott, keep in mind, even with the pocket WiFi, you still have to be able to get a signal for it to work. There are lots of places that have none or very bad signal reception. Your pocket Wi-Fi won't work if it can't latch on to a signal somewhere.
Yea what I did was just get dual sim on my phone
Have a great stay and thanks for the update
Wow that must be a blast from the past seeing Vancouver after so many years! Glad to see that you're having a good trip!
thank you my friend
Hey Scottie Boy,
Glad you are reconnecting so that later you have no regrets.
Generally speaking they are all great bikes, and as they say in Thailand "Up to You"
Thanks for the (interesting) update Scotty. Keep them coming. Raining here in Luzon...after a beautiful sunny day.
If you are downtown and need a cheap eat, Costco has a hotdog and pop for $1:25 ( Chinatown skytrain station ).

Yes we do.
It's true that a tradesman rarely pays for help to repair things at home. Drives a company vehicle
Buy a Honda ADV, much better than the nmax or aerox. The 150's are much cheaper now that the 160 was released last year. Add a box on the back and use a carry on size backpack, underseat storage

Sorry about your dad, man. Mine passed 7 years ago at 69. It hurt. If I think about it, it hurts.

I noticed that your Walking keeps you healthy and somewhat fit. Will you have the discipline to continue morning walks or gym or cycling?
For a novice driver as well as an experienced driver ABS can be a life saver, especially on the dirty and/or wet roads of the Philippines🇵🇭.
Why not consider the Yamaha Tricity 125 ABS at P146k? The extra front wheel gives much more stability and breaking power. When I had a bike my greatest fear was loosing grip at the front wheel in dirty or wet curves. I crashed once that way, ended in a shallow ditch, no damage to me or my bike😁
Greetings from the Netherlands🇳🇱

How will you get to different islands on the scooter? Do they have ferries for vehicles?
감사합니다.
Wow park!!!!! You are amazing Park!! 고마워 친구
I got a z650 here in the states, and ABS breaks have only kicked in with wet roads plus hitting the breaks hard while going over 70mph. I can't imagine them being useful on paved roads over there unless you are being stupid.
