The reason why the ORCR is still with the dealer because its not yet fully paid. I suggest getting a brand new motorcycle is the best option. Make sure also that you can use your driving license here in the Philippines. Try calling LTO so you can have a better information about owning and driving a vehicle here in the Philippines as a foreigner. Better be clear than a lot of gray areas later on.

First and foremost, before buying your scooter, make sure you have a PARKING SPACE in your condo bldg or if they will allow you to park for free. I'm saying this because of experience. Our condo used to provide free parking for bikes and motorcycles. Now only bikes, motorcycles are now on paid slots. It would be headache if you park your bike elsewhere or pay a premium at your condo parking area. Second, ALL motorcycle dealerships DO that. They charge a STAGGERING PREMIUM on mortgages and won't sell you in CASH or when they do so, on a marked up higher price. I was once on the market on buying a scooter, on cash and they gave me all the hullabaloo. I ended up with nothing, still doing alright though with my Mazda 2.
there are dealers that go for credit cards, and you can set it as installment with lower interest. in-house financing is really expensive in motorcycle dealers Philippines so do not ever go with financing with motorcycle. Go with Honda scooters as they are really reliable. Find a dealer that accepts credit card so you can finance it in credit. I think yzone shop dealer at wheeltek shop dealer accept credit card and maybe those bdo 12-month payment installment
@ Mergim I’d go new zero issues. It’s super cheap and a great deal. My E-bike cost me $2,500. So $1,600 for a brand new scooter is a steal. If it were me, I’d go Honda for the solid brand name.
Best option for you is to buy a 400cc bike if you are going to travel around Luzon. Instead of traveling on service roads and super congested roads like McArthur, you can go to Expressway which will save you so much time specially if you are traveling North

The public transportation system in Manila is not very efficient and it's confusing specially for a foreigner. Buying a scooter is probably the best option if you want to get around the metro area. Stay safe as always. 👍
From what I've seen and heard is if you buy a new scooter, you'll have to wait for 3 months before you can use your scooter. I think it has to do with the registration. And yes better you get a second hand one but do be careful as most second hand scooters are a crapshoot. As for scooter brands there many scooters out there that are more affordable and has the same specs and performance as the Japanese brands. Try looking at the new SkyGo KP150 it has Honda ADV specs and features. Or look at a Kymco 150 scooter as well. Or CF Moto scooters. These may be Chinese or Taiwanese brands but they are quite popular in Europe and has good quality as well. Last tip if you're gonna buy a second hand scooter bring along a friend who knows what to look at and can give a solid assessment of the scooter.

The jeepneys follow a certain route which, from where you are, is going to Quiapo and vice versa. If you go to SM Aura via jeepney, it would take you three transfers. You can just swipe it straight into your credit card and ask your bank to have it in installments. Thats what i did on my brother’s motorbike. Dealer financing is really expensive.

I've bought a 1980 Suzuki GS850G new and it was a nightmare of repairs and lasted only 4 years. I also bought a 2004 Honda Shadow Spirit VTX1100 and its never needed repairs and is still running fine. Honda is better quality by far. Check out the Honda Click 125i... about the same price.
If you buy scooter go directly to a top leading company showrooms or dealer like Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Honda they have many branches nearby with freebies like helmets and jackets don't buy second hand, and it's better to buy by cash or full payment they might give you more discounts rather than financing its almost double the price

Get a brand new so you dont have to worry about getting scammed or anything like that. If you have a credit card, pay straight and have it converted to installment with your bank. If you have a 2nd card, transfer the balances to the other bank instead. So much cheaper than the installment plan offered by the dealer.

If you either buy a new one or a 2nd hand...and sell it after a year, you're still gonna get less than what you paid for. If you don't know much about 2nd hand you're just gonna have headaches. If you have the money, just buy a new one and try to sell it 3 months before you leave. ANd go for a lower brand and model too (cheaper) if you are just gonna sell it later, what you need right now is something you can use without havig any headaches.
Go brand new....Less headaches....Practically speaking, go for a yamaha nmax or aerox.... more than half of scooter riders in the country use them so, both parts and service are easy available on every corner....plus, a lot of third-party design add-ons available everywhere.....
You can't drive brand new scooter right away in philippines. You have to wait for plate to arrive. Hassle keep showing temporary paperwork to the cop. You will be a target since you stand out in philippines. But if you can wait for the plate to arrive, brand new is a better deal since no mechanical hassle.

Sir i would highly recommend to you the new yamaha nmax and honda adv. If you feel the price is too high, there is honda click and mio soul. But the nmax is excellent for long travel. And also, buy 2nd if you really want to use it immediately as O.R.C.R. may take 2-3 month before they release it from LTO, you can't drive without ORCR. There a plenty of excellent condition for 2nd hand sellers within metro manila.
Get a brand new one and pay for it for 1 year. You will not have to pay upfront and the interest would not be that much, that's how I get my motorcycle. As for the maintenance, you can go into "casa" (the dealer where you buy it from) to have it maintained then little by little when you have the basic knowledge on it you can search via FB or go around the place to have a much nearer motor shop for your motorcycle maintenance.
If you're planning to travel around the Philippines and not just within the city, just buy a Honda ADV 160. We have many rough roads and holes here, especially on the national highways. For maxi scooter adv 160 is the latest and has good specs. It is much more comfortable for you because of the shock and torque, which are good for your weight. He can handle the incline road. The tires is for "all terrain" Try to contact "honda safety driving center" and ask them if you can test drive motorcycle. HSDC located in Parañaque
You can approach other sellers and ask about all the things you pointed out to avoid further costs after buying. But also it is worth for you to buy brand new as you will be zooming away to different places all the time.
Honda or yamaha is worth the extra especially if your planning to do longer road trips you'd rather something more reliable and better built. You get what you pay for, though they may be deerer the 2nd hand value will also be relevant.

i have a Suzuki Burgman Street. it really is the best value for money maxiscooter. comfortable, fuel efficient and tons of storage space. i'd suggest for you to get a brand new one though. the 2 years warranty is worth it. used scooters usually have problems like already crashed or starting issues.
*vespa* is probably the best scooter in town it's classier, i think and, it fits the BGC vibe i also think that hailing a joyride, angkas or grab is still way better than possessing a car or a scooter me, i still ride on these stuff 'coz the maintenance cost for a private vehicle has been chipped off my shoulder maintenance cost for a 4 wheel vehicle (every 2 to 3 months or so) is roughly P10,000 i know 'coz that's how i spent on the maintenance of my car
Buy brand new no question . You dont want any headache when you drive long distances. Atleast when you buy brand new you have the peace of mind for at least a year or 2 for any repairs.
Go ahead with a brand new one as u know u will be safe from everything since its coming out fresh from the dealer + the warranty. Look out for different financer as getting one thru the dealer would be very expensive as u just stated. Try going thru a bank, look thru other dealers like motortrade? Bro, the cheapest motorcycle dealer is a Honda Des. This company more cheaper than other dealer. It has less interest and charges. You may try ask also if they have a good as cash agreement, i think good for 1 to 2 months without interest.
Honda is totally reliable got a 2006 Honda wave it didn't give me a headache as much just change oil and few changes .. there are second hands that as good still as brand new I suggest still look for many options..
If you plan to stay or visit the Philippines even in the next 3 yrs .it's worth buying brand new no headache. I suggest you try to scout for dependable dealer. Honda or Suzuki they're both good manufacturers and can give you good warranty coverage.
Buy brand new and not Suzuki because depreciation on that brand is greater then Honda or Yamaha. For your size get your self NMax or ADV I bought and sold many motorcycles locally here at List 7 by now and you always need to buy with original and up To date CR and OR on hand plus 3 copy’s of government Id of original owner and three of his signatures on each, it’s that law here. Yes you can buy used Yamaha or HONDA but make sure odometer is lowest is possible. For example in 2019 when I first arrived I bought brand new Earox in Manila and had to sell it 4 month later for The loss of 14k pesos it’s not a big deal. My second purchase was NMax with 20k on odo. And I paid 70k and sold it a year later for 90k making 20k on top of what I paid for it. Buying anything in Philippines is easy as long as you ask questions and recommendations from other expats we have many groups on FB Take care and best of luck.
those aren't allowed in expressways. w/ your wandering lifestyle , i don't think that would be suitable for you because you'll need higher displacement motorbikes to use the skyways, nlex, slex, etc
FYI scooters must be min of 400cc to use the expressway's in Luzon. You should talk to a couple expats who own a scooter about license and regerstration first

For me,you should buy a brand new ,.. i have experience buying 2nd hand ,it cost me a lot of money to spend so much repairs.. if you do finance monthly payment the price you will pay almost double.. best option mergim buy a brandnew.. my advice as a filipino.
I was actually planning to launch my own channel with a couple of 🔫 range videos, but I had to shelf the footage after a buddy pointed out that it would probably get me steamrolled faster than you can say "Community Guidelines." So yeah, good call posting your 🔫 range footage on another platform. To answer your question, I would recommend investing in a Honda or a Ducati if you intend to stay for the long haul. Otherwise, a brand-new Suzuki seems like the best option, and would save you a ton of trouble down the track. Used vehicles are always a hit or miss kind of deal. Getting it checked by a mechanic prior to the purchase could mitigate your risk somewhat, but still isn't an ironclad guarantee.
I would look at a kymco or TVS if you think you're only going to keep it for a couple of years. They come from Korea or India and will be better priced than the top three .
Yeah buy new as they have not increased that much in 6 years I bought a Yamaha 125 cost me 70K 2016 , and that Suzuki Burgman has it similiar specs/performance to the Yamaha aerox 155 ? but new is best and look around as many dealers in Manila, and haggle too ! cheers .
You're just getting a scoot. Go cash. Financed payment schemes for light bikes by dealers is so not worth it. Go financing only for the bigger bikes, and even then I would go for bank financing instead of dealership financing.
The best option is to save money, transporting made easy these days having grab taxi and motor taxis. When you buy motorcycle, definitely a lot of requirements needed before and even after purchasing. Need a lot of fees and taxes from the government like licensing and charges from condominium parking lots. It will add to your headache since your electric bill is way too high.
If you're going to buy a 2nd hand look for at least 4k below ODO. Also you can go to some warehouse near to your area just like what I did. I bought a suzuki burgman 125cc for 55k ODO is 1100k only it's like good as new.
I bought the Yamaha NMAX 155 several years ago. A bit heavy and tough with really good torque for a 90kg fat bloke. Visit the YZone in Mandaluyong. Its almost right along EDSA.
Secondhand motorbike in the Philippines is damn too expensive while us here in Vietnam enjoy the perks. Motorbikes here are so cheap. 2nd hand can be bought for just 8 thousand pesos
get new one and try other outlet dealers..also ask for lesser month of payment for example 6 months....also try other unit of motorcycles...i hope you find good one...
As you are a taller than most Filipinos you should go for the biggest engine you can get and if you have a partner too. Also go for cash, don't get involved in financing as a tourist. You also are paying a high monthly condo rent so if you find a place that is cheaper you can finance a scooter in with the savings.
If you want just cheap brand new. Since its just roaming around manila, just buy motorstar brand. Its only under 50k its brand new. Since it has warranty its ok even its not a well known brand. Just look at their selections.
I got a burgman what i did was 40k down payment and the other half was installment for 1 year. Monthly payment was still less than 5k a month and more or less 10k interest to be divided by 12 months. You can get yourself a brand new scooter without shedding out a big amount of cash and save yourself from over the top interest. 😌
Second hand scooters, especially repos, they do not sell for the residual value. They sell it for the remaining financed cost. Does anybody know if comprehensive insurance is required if the scooter is financed? Financed will increase the price 60% more.
Mergim, better buy a Brand New One, any brand of your choice. And go to a bigger Dealer and ask for their Freebies like, Warranty, free Helmet and Jacket, Free Insurance and Registrations. BTW, Philippine Law states that Foreigners can drive any vehicle in the Philippines using their Foreign Drivers's License only for 90 Days since arrival, afterwhich one has to acquire a Philippine Driver's License at the LTO (Land Transportation Office) near you. Otherwise, you'll be Driving Without License and be Fined and Impound your Vehicle. Good luck and be safe.
I'd go for a 2nd hand Forza myself. Great mpg. But you could ignore the big four and take a punt on something new, but cheaper, like a Zontes zt125 or a Sym Jet or a Lexmoto 🤷🏻♂️

I've bought a 1980 Suzuki GS850G new and it was a nightmare of repairs and lasted only 4 years. I also bought a 2004 Honda Shadow Spirit VTX1100 and its never needed repairs and is still running fine. Honda is better quality by far. Check out the Honda Click 125i... about the same price.
It is better if you buy 400cc or more so that you can pass to express way if you want to go in the province...
If you buy scooter go directly to a top leading company showrooms or dealer like Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Honda they have many branches nearby with freebies like helmets and jackets don't buy second hand, and it's better to buy by cash or full payment they might give you more discounts rather than financing its almost double the price

Get a brand new so you dont have to worry about getting scammed or anything like that. If you have a credit card, pay straight and have it converted to installment with your bank. If you have a 2nd card, transfer the balances to the other bank instead. So much cheaper than the installment plan offered by the dealer.

If you either buy a new one or a 2nd hand...and sell it after a year, you're still gonna get less than what you paid for. If you don't know much about 2nd hand you're just gonna have headaches. If you have the money, just buy a new one and try to sell it 3 months before you leave. ANd go for a lower brand and model too (cheaper) if you are just gonna sell it later, what you need right now is something you can use without havig any headaches.
I recommend to buy brand new. There is a lot of motorcycle dealer out there. Don't rush.
Go brand new....Less headaches....Practically speaking, go for a yamaha nmax or aerox.... more than half of scooter riders in the country use them so, both parts and service are easy available on every corner....plus, a lot of third-party design add-ons available everywhere.....
You can't drive brand new scooter right away in philippines. You have to wait for plate to arrive. Hassle keep showing temporary paperwork to the cop. You will be a target since you stand out in philippines. But if you can wait for the plate to arrive, brand new is a better deal since no mechanical hassle.

Sir i would highly recommend to you the new yamaha nmax and honda adv. If you feel the price is too high, there is honda click and mio soul. But the nmax is excellent for long travel. And also, buy 2nd if you really want to use it immediately as O.R.C.R. may take 2-3 month before they release it from LTO, you can't drive without ORCR. There a plenty of excellent condition for 2nd hand sellers within metro manila.

Get a brand new one and pay for it for 1 year. You will not have to pay upfront and the interest would not be that much, that's how I get my motorcycle. As for the maintenance, you can go into "casa" (the dealer where you buy it from) to have it maintained then little by little when you have the basic knowledge on it you can search via FB or go around the place to have a much nearer motor shop for your motorcycle maintenance.
Burgman has 10inch back wheel just the right size for going down potholes... Honda click 125 has bigger wheels and same economy have a look
If you're planning to travel around the Philippines and not just within the city, just buy a Honda ADV 160. We have many rough roads and holes here, especially on the national highways.
For maxi scooter adv 160 is the latest and has good specs. It is much more comfortable for you because of the shock and torque, which are good for your weight. He can handle the incline road. The tires is for "all terrain"

Honda or yamaha is worth the extra especially if your planning to do longer road trips you'd rather something more reliable and better built. You get what you pay for, though they may be deerer the 2nd hand value will also be relevant.

i have a Suzuki Burgman Street. it really is the best value for money maxiscooter. comfortable, fuel efficient and tons of storage space.
i'd suggest for you to get a brand new one though. the 2 years warranty is worth it. used scooters usually have problems like already crashed or starting issues.
I suggest buying a new one to avoid the hassle and headache of repairs. Warranty can somehow give you peace of mind.

Look out for different financer as getting one thru the dealer would be very expensive as u just stated. Try going thru a bank, look thru other dealers like motortrade? Bro, the cheapest motorcycle dealer is a Honda Des. This company more cheaper than other dealer. It has less interest and charges. You may try ask also if they have a good as cash agreement, i think good for 1 to 2 months without interest.
Honda is totally reliable got a 2006 Honda wave it didn't give me a headache as much just change oil and few changes .. there are second hands that as good still as brand new I suggest still look for many options..
If you plan to stay or visit the Philippines even in the next 3 yrs .it's worth buying brand new no headache. I suggest you try to scout for dependable dealer. Honda or Suzuki they're both good manufacturers and can give you good warranty coverage.

I bought and sold many motorcycles locally here at List 7 by now and you always need to buy with original and up To date CR and OR on hand plus 3 copy’s of government Id of original owner and three of his signatures on each, it’s that law here.
Yes you can buy used Yamaha or HONDA but make sure odometer is lowest is possible. For example in 2019 when I first arrived I bought brand new Earox in Manila and had to sell it 4 month later for The loss of 14k pesos it’s not a big deal. My second purchase was NMax with 20k on odo. And I paid 70k and sold it a year later for 90k making 20k on top of what I paid for it.
Buying anything in Philippines is easy as long as you ask questions and recommendations from other expats we have many groups on FB

FYI scooters must be min of 400cc to use the expressway's in Luzon. You should talk to a couple expats who own a scooter about license and regerstration first

You should have taken a van going to market market. They don't know BGC there, they know market market it is only 25pesos from Pasig market.

To answer your question, I would recommend investing in a Honda or a Ducati if you intend to stay for the long haul. Otherwise, a brand-new Suzuki seems like the best option, and would save you a ton of trouble down the track. Used vehicles are always a hit or miss kind of deal. Getting it checked by a mechanic prior to the purchase could mitigate your risk somewhat, but still isn't an ironclad guarantee.
Always buy brand new, even it depreciate on price, you can still sell it for a decent 2nd hand price in the future.
Go with the brand new one and its more convenient to pay full if you have the money then get an installment probably you will save more.
I would look at a kymco or TVS if you think you're only going to keep it for a couple of years. They come from Korea or India and will be better priced than the top three .
Yeah buy new as they have not increased that much in 6 years I bought a Yamaha 125 cost me 70K 2016 , and that Suzuki Burgman has it similiar specs/performance to the Yamaha aerox 155 ? but new is best and look around as many dealers in Manila, and haggle too ! cheers .

If you buy a kawasaki Bajaj 100 or a 125 Honda TMX you will have no problem with resale as they are popular motorcycles for tricycles.

You're just getting a scoot. Go cash. Financed payment schemes for light bikes by dealers is so not worth it. Go financing only for the bigger bikes, and even then I would go for bank financing instead of dealership financing.
The best option is to save money, transporting made easy these days having grab taxi and motor taxis. When you buy motorcycle, definitely a lot of requirements needed before and even after purchasing. Need a lot of fees and taxes from the government like licensing and charges from condominium parking lots. It will add to your headache since your electric bill is way too high.
If you're going to buy a 2nd hand look for at least 4k below ODO. Also you can go to some warehouse near to your area just like what I did. I bought a suzuki burgman 125cc for 55k ODO is 1100k only it's like good as new.

Secondhand motorbike in the Philippines is damn too expensive while us here in Vietnam enjoy the perks. Motorbikes here are so cheap. 2nd hand can be bought for just 8 thousand pesos

get new one and try other outlet dealers..also ask for lesser month of payment for example 6 months....also try other unit of motorcycles...i hope you find good one...

As you are a taller than most Filipinos you should go for the biggest engine you can get and if you have a partner too. Also go for cash, don't get involved in financing as a tourist. You also are paying a high monthly condo rent so if you find a place that is cheaper you can finance a scooter in with the savings.
If you want just cheap brand new. Since its just roaming around manila, just buy motorstar brand. Its only under 50k its brand new. Since it has warranty its ok even its not a well known brand. Just look at their selections.

I got a burgman what i did was 40k down payment and the other half was installment for 1 year. Monthly payment was still less than 5k a month and more or less 10k interest to be divided by 12 months. You can get yourself a brand new scooter without shedding out a big amount of cash and save yourself from over the top interest. 😌
Second hand scooters, especially repos, they do not sell for the residual value. They sell it for the remaining financed cost. Does anybody know if comprehensive insurance is required if the scooter is financed? Financed will increase the price 60% more.
You could get a bank loan in stead, they have lower interest and then pay up front for the brand new scooter

Mergim, better buy a Brand New One, any brand of your choice. And go to a bigger Dealer and ask for their Freebies like, Warranty, free Helmet and Jacket, Free Insurance and Registrations. BTW, Philippine Law states that Foreigners can drive any vehicle in the Philippines using their Foreign Drivers's License only for 90 Days since arrival, afterwhich one has to acquire a Philippine Driver's License at the LTO (Land Transportation Office) near you. Otherwise, you'll be Driving Without License and be Fined and Impound your Vehicle.

I'd go for a 2nd hand Forza myself. Great mpg. But you could ignore the big four and take a punt on something new, but cheaper, like a Zontes zt125 or a Sym Jet or a Lexmoto 🤷🏻♂️
