Given how intense the training Might Guy put them through honestly without his heart Guy was pretty much next to Danzo and the Blood Mist Village training the closest thing to Spartan training. Guy had to know Neji and Lee were possibly gonna fight in the Chunin exams in character Neji and Lee would both know they cannot hold back though I am 90-95% sure if Lee makes it to 5 Gates Neji is royally screwed I mean weightless Lee is one thing but 5 Gates Lee speed blitz Neji and beats him bloody. The only way Neji can win in like 1-2/10 scenarios is if he manages to chakra block Lee's points to the point Lee cannot use the gates though for all I know activating the Gates themselves could just be a repeat of what Naruto did to Neji so theres that

Neji didn't even do a full rotation yet still manage to block the majority of the attack. He was even still able to stand right after before he got Chin Checked by Naruto.
Naruto took the same impact, made a clone dug underground and one shot Neji, in no way shape or form did Neji win that clash. Its worst too cause if you go off Tenten’s assessment it means Naruto took even more damage since his own attack got redirected via rotation.

Hmm also considering Neji also has precog along chidori being a really fast palm thrust at the end of the day. I mean, even Base Naruto from the final valley can overcome Sasuke's 2t precog and clash with chidori in base without special eyes yet that Naruto doesn't scale anywhere close to 2nd gate lee using the lotus based on objective fact.
In relation to the Drunken Fist, one could say Lee is actually getting stronger via a shift in his mental energies which composes his chakra.
Gaara's automatic sand does actually seem like it cannot move when he is paralyzed. Momoshiki gripped him in his hair then knocked him out without his sand responding when they went to rescue Naruto.
The databooks typically do not list hand seals for jutsu, though the Raikiri and Chidori both eventually need none, so it is indeed a moot point regardless. (The highlighted symbols are the jutsu catagories, not the seals.)
Naruto was able to intercept Gaara and shield his toads from the sand attacks somewhat even before his mental amplification, though some would just say Gaara was toying with him.

It’s concentrated on the hand, Neji, fighting style is literally tied to where he slaps your hands away so they don’t even connect, pretty sure Sasuke would wind up just getting his hands slapped away

Neji wins this time. Sasuke being almost as fast as Lee doesn’t make a difference here cause neji trains with Lee all the time and beats him every time. Up close Sasuke loses. Specially since Sasuke stamina is lower than lees. He’ll tire out faster.
And further range Sasuke doesn’t have hard hitting jutsu either. Fireball is a joke and never kills anyone. Only Madara used it effectively.
Chidori is deadly but why would neji let Sasuke charge up? Neji uses shuriken shown against Naruto. And even if Sasuke manages to launch forward towards neji, neji can just dodge it. Dude dodged kidomarus arrow that is much faster. Then proceeds to poke Sasuke.
The only way Sasuke winning this is if he pulls out some sticks and throws em at neji really really hard.

As far as Chidori. Keep in mind precision is needed. An interference of chakra that is rotating will not allow Sasuke to get the sure hit KO. We’ve actually seen this with Kidomaru. Unlike Sasuke HE had far more experience with a piercing ability that regardless of what anyone thinks had more destructive power off of feats than THIS Sasukes Chidori AND it was also amped by level 2 curse mark. It too was then increased by a slingshot/bow but It failed to hit its Mark by Neji only emitting a small amount of chakra.
Neji didn’t get in a full rotation against Naruto. Why is this never stated? Neji’s own insistence to start it followed by the immediate clash suggests it was released late. Narratively makes sense. Before he was able to clash with Naruto, and he’s prepared to do so again, but he realizes that with each step Narutos taking the chakra itself is becoming a force. That’s why he released it late he was prepared for another Taijutsu skirmish. Neji would have more time against Sasuke.
@cunningfox7838 indeed, I've created a detailed video on this topic for the channel, regarding on everything about rotation vs chidori. The reality is that Neji's speed far surpasses Sasuke's, rendering rotation unnecessary for a direct Chidori, particularly one as sluggish as the one used during the exams. In the preliminaries, Neji would overpower Sasuke, not to mention in the finals. Neji's speed is even greater than Lee's at the second gate. The first gate alone represents an entirely different level of speed, offering a true perception blitz level boost, unlike the Chidori. The latter, if judged solely on speed, is easily countered or avoided, as Lee suggests. Essentially, I'm suggesting that Lee without weights at the first gate would blitz Lee without weights, but Sasuke with a standard Chidori from the exams wouldn't blitz his base, non-Sharingan self with Chidori because it's slow enough to be easily countered or avoided. The Sharingan alters this, not by its blinding speed, but by preventing you from reacting in time. Regardless, it's refreshing to see someone who understands the manga well. I don't want to reveal too much since I'm creating content, but your comment compelled me to reply.

We have no metric to compare Kidomaru’s Bow to Chidori, while they’re both linear movement that Kidomaru scales no where. You’d have to prove one is inherently faster than the other and destructive power is just not relevant to the discussion.
Why was Neji’s rotation weakened? We already see the ground is formed as it is with a complete rotation, you’d have display or prove Neji’s rotation is stronger and or faster than his initial spin. It also isn’t the main basis for Chidori > Rotation, which even if Neji can deflect or slightly throw off angle which is fair, to say he wouldn’t take damage is absurd, this all assuming Sasuke doesn’t just use it linearly and just forms it in the air or something.
@@ThunderGodTG What do you mean there’s no metric? Arrows have less mass than a person, which would enable it to travel faster with far less force, so there’s your proof, and Neji was still able to react and avoid fatal injury.
Look at the distance Kidoumarus’s arrow covers in chapter 196. Sasuke with chidori isn’t even covering half of that distance within the same amount of time.

Nejis defence does better than gaaras defence and heres why:
Gaaras defence is hard but is stationary while nejis rotation will change the direction of the chidori making it difficult to land for sasuke(chidori misses 7/10)

Not provable at all nor is it ever implied, the only point where that’s even remotely the case is when something else slams against the rotation making it accelerate faster than Neji himself can make it. Neji clearly had a cap out limit to how fast he can move and you can’t just arbitrary determine when he reaches it, the fact the ground is already indented as it is when he uses rotation displays he met the prerequisite.
This also blatantly doesn’t address the main argument that chidori scales over the defense Neji is directly shown to be ~ to.

You see this is something i always wanted to see. Chunin exam Sasuke vs Neji.
Most people just said Sasuke easily but I i felt like they never put too much thought in to it. I always figured from statements and reaction Lee likely needing the 4th gate at least to overwhelm Neji. I know people say he struggled and lost to Naruto but lets be honest, rewatching that fight Neji could have ended it sooner. He had a point to prove to Naruto. Something he wouldn't have to prove to Sasuke as they're both geniuses but Naruto called out Sasuke on it after his fight with Lee. Nobody trained as hard as Lee, Sasuke did not really put that effort in.
Anyway not to trail off. I always saw it as Neji was fast enough in reaction, attack and defense to overwhelm weightless Lee by such a huge margin Lee couldn't even state he was close to him. So Sasuke with Lee speed with the downside of stamina draining would still get pushed back. Although the Sharringan can help the problem is he can't fully avoid the gentle fist strikes. And if Sasuke arms or legs get tagged too much he might not be able to even use Chidori. Not to mention it is game over if Sasuke gets hit with 64 palms.
Granted curse mark might help if it came to that. But I haven't looked into that scenario.
On the flip side chidori may not be a sudden win. We saw that people can take it and still live and function. Add in palm rotation possibly deflecting the target to a less vital area because I'm positive Chidori can pierce it albeit at reduced speed and power. So potentially Neji can still fight possibly with one arm and kicks.
So i really think the fight can still be 50/50.
I would honestly like to see Sasuke lose to humble him more. Although Sasuke winning just barely would have been doped for his confidence.

They're completly separate amps one is FAR more severe and much more explicitly noted to come about via Naruto's Comrades Dying vs Kurama's Chakra

You can 100% scale mental amps off the feats they perform. If one amp provides a much more substantial feat it’s much more prevalent. Naruto also wasn’t mental amped really during the fight with Neji.

@@ThunderGodTG Come on now. Naruto was mental amped vs neji. Naruto was mentally nerfed then Hinata boosted his morale before the fight. Neji noticed this through his Byakugan, which was also consistent with Gaara's observation before the 100 years of death. Naruto was significantly mentally strengthened against Neji, particularly just before their clash with the rotation. Indeed, without that mental boost from the Hokage statements, he would have been defeated by Neji before their final clash. However, it was evident that he was even more mentally fortified when he summoned the 2,000 clones and Gamabunta, as those are what I consider protective amps. Either way he was mental amped vs neji. I was trying to hold back but i had to jump in just a bit here.

I interpret the Gamabunta summoning as part mental amp and Naruto squeezing out the dregs of Chakra he has left. After this point the only jutsu he uses is a transformation and then can't even get up after a headbutt and 2 haymakers. Sounds about right if Gamabunta's summoning was fueled by his own chakra. One of the themes in this arc specifically was Naruto learning to use Kyuubi chakra and just the eyes turning red for a small panel is too little of a visual indicator considering what we saw in the Neji fight and then a few minutes after this. We've never seen Kyuubi Chakra be THAT subtle, even Rasenshuriken was still blue eyes even though they had the slit.

@@Archer170 Because Naruto has NEVER used Kyuubi chakra without it being VERY clear that he is using it. Anime characters push past limits all the time. The only time statements of "lack of energy" hold weight is if the character in question is literally sprawled out on the ground and can't get up.

Neji when he clashed with naruto was mentally conflicted and already fatigue while naruto just got more power and probably healed a little as well. Also didn't neji try to speed blitz the spider guy off rip after cutting the webs.
On paper Neji has better stats. Sasuke is scaling to Lee in speed who Neji handles easily. Neji saw Lee fight Gara and didn’t sweat until Lee opened the final gate. And then he trained. Rotation is deflecting chidori.

the difference between palm rotation and Gaaras sand is that its neji himself spinning, so not only is it the chakra being emitted and rotated, but its also nejis hands so unless he goes through nejis hand neji can catch his arm or redirect the trajectory. Peircing the rotation doesnt directly pierce nejis body, because its an arms length plus maybe a few inches of chakra before it then reaches nejis body. Something spearlike, like chidori could get the itachi treatment.
In that type of way one can argue it’s inferior in its defensive properties and superior in misdirection, however the main issue is that there’s no verifiable upper limit for the rotation aside from the statements made, with a lot of arguments for Rotation being just assertions of the Kidomaru fight (which is a stronger Neji) or head cannon. Dudes Neji grabs Chidori tho is fucking insane, literally only Kakashi & Itachi performed that type of feat with the ladder literally blitzing Neji & Sasuke himself.
@ThunderGodTG yeah, that was just my thought on it, it's definitely arguable and either version benefits neji in a way, because it's plausible with his byakugan he can still see what's going on and pre-empt his next move, but he will need good control over his rotation to achieve that.
Again my thoughts on the chidori vs rotation can be swayed either way but logistically for it to beat rotation it would have to go through it, and if it does will he hit his body? His hand or mis time it and neji facing sideways and he grazes his front or back mid spin. I agree with your 6 or 7 out of 10 more so 6/ 10 rating. But who wins more can go either way. How do you make that arbitrary distinction about the upper limits? You can't which is a big issue with arguing Rotation, it's arguing the fundamentals of the Jutsu vs how strong the technique actually is which doesn't work in these types of discussions for obvious reasons.

More like Chidori vs. Rotation cause if Sasuke gets touched its GG gentle fist is no joke and so is Neji’s speed as stated by Lee and Guy. Neji even claims in his fight with Naruto, as if to praise his speed feats, “You can’t get away from me”
Even with weightless Lee speed, Sasuke literally has to rely on Chidori speed to end Neji in one blow because he doesn’t have the luxury or speed required to handle close combat with a Hyuga atleast without that third tomoe.
A chakra multiplier is a stat multiplier as chakra is literal physical energy mixed with mental
The Narutoverse has always used controlled chakra to buff stats so the more you have the more your stats increase
It’s not if that was the case the concept of chakra control would never be relevant. Chakra does buff stats but it’s via chakra control the buff becomes usable. The Bijuu/Jinchuriki concept embody this. If this was the case Sasuke would never be ~ to Naruto, or Madara to Hashirama.
+ Jirobo says he’s 10x Stronger which is later clarified in the Sakon/Ukon fight to be x10 the amount of chakra. While chakra can raise your stats a prevalent theme in P1 is Naruto’s absurd chakra & bad chakra control which is later refined to just make him stronger despite him not actually doing all that much physical training / mainly chakra control.

This is 100% my point we have no idea the level of control from the Sound 4 nor do any of their stats shoot up 10x.
They don’t go from contending with to outright blitzing people who were competing with them in base.
I’m not saying it’s not an increase but, it’s not a straight multiplier since the control of the individual is variable to what they can use for their stats and jutsu output.

Upon review of chapter 104, Neji didn’t lose the clash. They canceled each other out.
Naruto does burrow in the ground after, but Neji does repel the attack prior to that. Naruto simply had enough chakra to do something else. And I wouldn't put Sasuke's chidori above Naruto's cloak in terms of chakra potency and quantity. Neji would have less chakra he'd have to repel against Sasuke's chidori.
I think Neji blocking chidori revolves around whether or not he can react to it rather than how powerful these attacks are.
The AP arguments for Chidori aren’t predicated on Neji canceling out the clash. I say he “lost” since even when he hit Naruto with the same amount of damage he came out of the scuffle FAR worse. I should have clarified but, I was referencing their clash as a whole not just where they hit each other.
Thundergod! Wouldnt you say the "Unrivaled superspeed" quote is more likely to be from Gated lee? I say this because in the databook it specifically shows post-Gaara fight lee for the statement. Aka after he showed his 5th gate, and blew everyones mind with his speed. Seems to directly correlate. Or theyd of used a picture of lee in his normal attire like they did everyone else.
Yeah I believe I mention that in the video as well but, that picture point is really good, I think it can just as easily be argued as base since it shows base Lee so its just hard to judge all around. Lee can be in Base and be unrivaled while also being unrivaled in Gates as well.

I doubt the chidori would ever pass through rotation without a huge difference in speed. Rotation is not suposed to tank the attacks like gaaras sand, but deflect then. Changing the trajectory of a piercing attack like chidori would be a lot easier than deflect a huge mass of chakra like narutos attack. Its the difference of deflecting a deadly arrow(that would kill you) with one hand and using the same force to try to deflect a heavy punching bag( that would just stagger you)

The point I'm emphasizing is that Neji blocking Kyuubi-amped Naruto's chakra is a significantly greater feat than blocking a Chidori, which only pierced a water tank. Lee in 3rd gate was hardly trackable by a Kakashi with his Sharingan active. His Chidori gives him a bit of tunnel vision without the Sharingan, but he can basically use Chidori just fine with the Sharingan. Sasuke is slower then Kakashi, doesn't have as much experience with it, and can only use a few. So if Neji scales to 3rd gate Lee or higher in reaction speed, Sasuke isn't hitting him. Worse yet if Sasuke misses he's basically in his "Sea Bear Circle" which is a death sentence for Sasuke.

I think before the finals if Sasuke does not get cm1 out then Neji would body him. If he does then I actually think Sasuke with cm1 could beat Neji before the finals. In the finals I think Sasuke wins high diff. He beat base Gaara and he was able to hurt small one tail Gaara. The best feats Neji has is beating up base Naruto and being even in speed but overpowered by small nine tails Naruto who didn't get that much of a boost from the nine tails. People will bring up how Neji beat the spider sound 4 dude but that Neji is definitely stronger than he was in the finals and he barely won. He also one in a very specific way.

You’re argument for Sasuke heavily revolves around just chidori.
When has the chidori ever been successful at anything other than a finishing move?
You act like Sasuke would just 1 shot with chidori, but even base Gaara gets hit by chidori and it wasn’t even a fatal wound.
Chidori can also be countered by a simple substitution jutsu, like Deidara did.
CM2 Kidoumaru’s arrows were many times faster than Sasuke with chidori, and Neji was still able to avoid fatal injuries, so it’s not as simple as “chidori, gg”.
Sasuke has the CM but can’t use it, or he would be disqualified, as stated by Kakashi. But regardless, Neji doesn’t show much emotion and doesn’t even bother to activate byakugan when he witnesses CM Sasuke in the forest of death, yet Neji is blown away by Rock lee and activates byakugan when the 4th gate is opened.
Sasuke is mainly a mid/close range fighter and Neji is far more potent up close.
So to be fair, Sasuke would hit Neji with chidori and maybe take him by surprise his strings, but at some point Sasuke will get hit with gentle fist, losing the ability to use Ninjutsu. At that point Sasuke has no answer for byakugans near 360 vision, or rotation.
This first part makes no sense at all - Rasenshuriken never killed anybody so it’s not a good technique is the logic presented. It’s very much presented with Kakashi/Sasuke that Chidori / Raikiri is their ace with Kakashi not even thinking he can be hokage after losing the ability to use it in his novel.
Gaara literally has an extra layer of defense on top of his skin that enabled him to eat hits from Gated Lee which Sasuke broke through on top of Gaara’s Sand.
Stronger Neji fought Kidomaru who was low on chakra from a previous encounter with Raido & Genma you’d have to establish that arrow’s Speed & contrast it to Sasuke’s level, which doesn’t work since that Neji doesn’t scale to the one in the exams. Exams Neji doesn’t scale to that at all since we know he just objectively got stronger, to the point he can beat someone just stronger than Kyuubi Naruto.

You’re portraying chidori as if it’s the “end all, be all” in this fight, yet it’s never been depicted that way in the story at all.
Gaara’s sand armor is irrelevant, Sasuke hit him in the shoulder with chidori, so he would’ve been fine regardless.
Look at chapter 196, there’s no need to compare Sasuke’s speed to Kidoumarus arrow because common sense tells us that Sasuke has no feats that show he can cover that distance within even a fraction of the same time.
There’s also no need for me to scale anything here. I’m referencing the fight with Kidoumaru to represent Neji’s general capabilities. Every ability Neji uses in that fight is an ability that any generic hyuuga can do. It’s not like Neji is using any new techniques that are different from what’s used in the chuunin exams.
Sasuke can only use chidori twice without being paralyzed. So my point is, while you can say Neji will get hit by chidori, it wouldn’t finish him because he could still avoid fatal injuries using a combination of his Gentle fist abilities, similar to the kidoumaru fight.

While I agree Base Sasuke’s Speed is = Lee his reactions are not nor is his Top Chidori Speed. The reactions are relevant as unless Sasuke’s close to Neji, Neji can’t just outright blitz him from a distance. Base Lee also just has faster travel speed than Neji which is what he uses when circling Gaara. Sasuke could run around the battlefield and Neji would never catch him unless he got Semi Close.

Chidori is only a stronger tech strictly in terms of AP, but that doesn’t mean it’s a better tech overall. Chuunin exam Sasuke after training still loses to 5th gate Lee, and he would’ve lost to base Gaara too.

It’s not outright stated but, that’s a fair assumption, I’m of a similar opinion since Shukaku uses Wind Release with Gaara having access to earth & lightning.
I think a lot of people are not noting even if Gaara’s defense is stronger, Neji’s Kaiten is actually MOVING at a high speed unlike the the sand, so even if it could pierce kaiten, the speed of Kaiten would obviously move the Chidori off course if not directly repelling the chidori and sasuke.
That’s not the issue with Kaiten the problem is directly ascertaining where its upper limits lie. You can only argue ninjutsu functionality within a certain range, the problem with Kaiten is people like to arbitrary place caps on what it can actually deflect instead of using what’s provided. I think changing the angle of Chidori is pretty fair but, outright deflecting is entirely baseless, rotation does not have the feats or statements.
Repelling Naruto’s clones + Shuriken are not good enough feats, the last clash is completely irrelevant to the Chidori AP scaling over the Kaiten threshold. Kaiten also just has a max out in terms of speed based on how fast Neji himself can go.

So.... How do you compare neji to base gaara? Because sasuke was actually destroying him in base
Neji hit base Gaara with hands he’s just gonna have trouble actually closing that distance very similarly to Kimmimaro who makes a similar note. The series treats long range fighters as having an advantage of close range so Neji would struggle.
The key thing to keep in mind in Naruto Vs partially transformed Gaara is that Gaara literally didn't move at all in that fight, he stood on the same tree branch the entire time while letting Naruto pummel him. What's more, Naruto's clone barrage didn't even do much damage, all it did was peel off some sand. Now compare that to chidori which broke through the sand thrice and each time Gaara was left bleeding and wounded.
So it's misleading to use Naruto's speed and AP feats (and by extension Neji's) to put him above Sasuke. Not saying you do this but it's very common.

Couldn't a Byakugan user learn/use raikiri as well? The byakugan's perception is literally better than the sharingan's.
I think Neji's rotation would be able to repel Sasuke's chidori just because his rotation is spinning chakra and is much better in this specific scenario unlike sand, just look at how much more powerful the base rasengan is compare to base chidori, however everyone knows that if Neji uses 64 palms then Sasuke's curse mark would take over and inject natural energy in his body putting him above Neji, either way Sasuke wins even tho Neji should be stronger if Sasuke had no plot armor.
