Omg Jean is a beautiful woman, I couldn’t stand Flatley he was so arrogant and full of himself, the performances without him were much better because they were about the whole cast. Flatley was an arrogant pig.

Jeans' partner in this version of Riverdance is Colin Dunne who is a dancer extraordinaire. He is of Irish extraction but raised in the midlands of England. His mastery of several different dance styles is unparalleled. His Irish dancing has ballet qualities. As Jean herself once said "nobody dances like Colin Dunne". If you watch some of his other videos, I think you will agree - he is one of a kind - incredible.

I danced at a few Feis that Colin was competing at aswel when I was a young lad in UK. Absolutely everyone knew him. He was already a multi World champion by that stage. He was a few years older than me. Shame I gave it up young as was embaressed about it tbh. I know 2 lads who did go on to perform with Riverdance/ Lord of the Dance. They travelled the world, fair play to them.

The first time I ever saw your dancing at any capacity on TV was in the Disney film, the luck of the Irish, and as soon as I seen it, I loved it and that video was absolutely fantastic and I enjoyed every minute of it because that takes a lot of choreography, I would assume and extremely talented people, and every single person on that stage the best part was when they were all doing it in a line together that was epic

Could you react to the original 1994 Eurovision performance? It's one of the most stunning things ever. It was only designed as an interval act to fill time but the audience reaction was so insane it eclipsed the actual thing it was an interval act for, and a year later it was turned into a full stage show which is now recognised as one of the most successful stage shows ever, having traversed the globe several times, making millions.

Yup…”slan-cha” is the correct pronunciation. I saw River Dance three times when they came to Seattle, it was amazing! The first time was May 1998, the next two times were in the early 2000’s. They’ll be back to celebrate their 30th anniversary in 2025! As amazing as it is watch on video, the live performance is unbelievable! Their precision gubes the Rockette’s a run for their money. 😉

I recently watched a video of the current production of Riverdance where they practice this part. Ya'll, they are just dying at the end, but they make it look easy.

You got the pronunciation of Sláinte perfect, however it doesn't mean cheers. Sláinte is the Irish word for health. Irish people drink to each others health and therefore say Sláinte as a toast so I can see how people might mistake if for cheers.

Sláinte is pronounced “slawn-cha” and means health, health to you, take care, and cheers depending on how you use the word.

I watched the preparation for this show, and a major problem with Radio City was the solid steel flooring for safety which had to be covered to allow the dancers to not injure their ankles and legs due to reduced 'springing' from the stage.

Michael Flatley, the American-Irish creator of Riverdance once set the world record for the most taps in 1 second: 35. Like a humming bird's wings.

`Best damn dance show I`ve ever seen. I`m told that the Show, Riverdance, was created by Michael Flatley ( an Irish Born American ? ). I think that this bloke, Colin Dunne was / is a superior Irish Dancer to the creator....
I think the whole show is availabe to see somewhere or other in this here YT.
If you chaps haven`t watched and heard the whole show then you have no idea what you`re missing.
I`ve been everywhere there is to go in EIRE - ten times over and similarly with England and Wales. Alas, I have spent too little time in Scotland.

I get that, but I think there has to be a middle ground for the children/grandchildren of immigrants. Not just from Ireland either- our families usually didn't leave their homes because they wanted to, they felt like they had to. Making sure their kids and grandkids knew and respected their roots was the only way they still felt those connections to the place that gave them life. Trying to find ways to identify with the culture is a way to respect our elders and the sacrifices they made to try giving the next generations a better life. We aren't actually "Irish" or "Italian" in terms of nationality, we're talking ethnically. I can 100% understand why people who live in those countries get upset by it but I've never really been able to find a middle ground where both sides are happy.
