Among the best fly fishing videos I’ve seen. The right amount of commentary, scenery, casting, fish play. Great editing and production. Off the charts fishing skills. Top notch. Thanks very much for this video.
Have not commented in some time now. But I have to say, the editing is unreal, considering the time scale you work on. You are a committed grafter mate, and totally deserve every view and subscriber.
What an amazing trip bud, total joy too watch you fish and see you enjoying your passion, makes my day watching your video's,and always brings a smile viewing them, superb.Paul
Oh my word Alex. What an amazing trip, awesome scenery and your drone footage is spectacular. Loved the drone footage of the dry take. Great adventure mate. Love it
What a quality video, really amazing from transitions to usage of music at the right times. I’ve had a few logs that move, usually a salmon when trout fishing or a massive steelhead. The eat at 15:36 is hands down one of the best I’ve seen in a while. Thank you for the content!
Truly an exceptional day of fly fishing. Your production quality is excellent and the overall story telling was fantastic! I really felt like I was along for the adventure...
That log brownie makes up for when everything goes wrong and you lose the fish. Everything went right so you deserve that fish😢. 😂 Another beautiful video !! Thank you Alex
Love it. Usually when I mutter ‘oh shit’ because I’m over a log, I don’t end up with a 20+ inch brown 😂. Those cicadas buzzing are making me jones for warm weather. Thanks for another great vid.
Great video Alex, thanks. Your back country trips always inspire. (That new(?) landing net seems to be surviving better than I remember your previous ones).
Alex I hope you and yours are safe from the floods? Having been unable to return to our house since last March I know how awful it can be. Your videos have really cheered me up over the last year. I doubt you will be able to put out much for a while but that doesn't matter, look after yourself.
Hey man I’ve been a long time subscriber and as a young viewer and fisherman you have really influenced the way I do things. I’m from the states but if you would consider doing like a Friday filler or maybe a short little instagram video about how you discovered fishing and how you’ve made it your career that would be so cool!
Another excellent video in an absolutely brilliant part of NZ, the content just gets better, I hope the weather is treating you better than us down here Alex.
I love your videos, I'm really impressed with your catch and release of the fish you've caught. Do you ever keep any for your lunch. Keep the videos coming. Regards terry.
I had a rig keeper like you have at some point, but it's a bad way of keeping rigs. Use a pool noodle instead, works a lot better for keeping premade rigs at the ready.
Brilliant! Loving te transition you’ve made into filming fish before fishing for them, and making an effort to film eats etc. Awesome. Keep it up! And what boots are you wearing in this one?
Love ya videos Alex, but I’ve always wondered, had anyone ever bumped into you while your hours into a river in the bush and said “hey are you talking to yourself”. 😂
I set up my fly line, poly leader and tippet as per your set up, 16 feet which works really well when it comes to catching. The issue I have, occurs when I don't have someone to help with netting and landing. Often the wound in poly leaderor or tippet knot gets caught on one of the guides, hench I try to keep the poly leader outside top guide. In which case I lack the reach when it comes to netting the trout. Do you have any magic tips to overcome lack of netting reach? Cheers
Hey Alex, what wet wading shoes are you wading there? i cant find them in your gear vids. the zip up ones seem lighter than your orvis pros. what you recommend them?
It says something about your videos (and, sadly, about my life) to admit that they are a highlight of my week. Only one pet peeve this time: those sleek-looking (ballet?) wading boots are not the ones featured in your gear list. It's too late to start holding back, my son. We deserve to know more about them.
Please please please bro - your videos are awesome but on my 55" screen it is difficult to see where you are casting to when you say you have sighted a trout you are after. Can you put a marker as to where you see the fish because otherwise we are blind esp when nymphing. Would enhance the viewing perspective 10 fold.
This looks like a new river drainage/system. That first fish was fat. And I don't remember you getting a rainbow ever before. Are they gouging on Cicada's for so long that they got that fat? Is there more food in that river? Looks like more gradient and less gravel along the riverbed everywhere. We get 1 cicada hatch every 20 years it seems that is worth half a shit. The water is more stained than usual as well. More alkaline with a little more weeds=bugs. I never see any weeds in your waters. And never any hatches either. What's the primary food source over in paradise? Fish Frye? So clearly after watching this a little more you are at a new spot. I'm now wondering. Are you on the windward side of the island and usually fish leeward? Are you lower in elevation. So much more palms and grass and weeds in the water. And the fish are better fed. Do you know how spoiled you are my brother LOL. I know you work your ass off. And thanks for all the great videos. I would die to live over there to be able to fish like that. You must have a pretty cherry set up in life. I have noticed you don't have very many friends that can fish as you do. So you must make good money. And have control of your time. I know you're a fish bum like I was in my younger years. But you're not a broke ass, living on a couch kind of trout bum like lots of them. Peace out
Hi ! Any thoughts on flourcarbon vs nature ? Nature cant handle it ! It will be there for ever ! imagine 1000 flyfishers fishing for 10 years . Every time you "snip" of a bit of flourcarbon after a fly change or tippet/leader change some flourcarbon will fall to the ground and it will stay there for all future time ! A lot of flourcarbon there will be !!!!!

Excellent outing! As usual thanks for letting us tag along!!!👍✌️
Another great gran solo video Alex!!!
Thanks for the effort… well worth it!!
I love how he sight fishes a killer rainbow and proceeds to say. "not the fish I was after but I'll take it"! True master angler.
Fantastic to see the reaction of fish going for the flies.
Absolutly great video capture.
Love to watch your videos every time
Alex, thanks again
👏🏻
Lost count how many fish you hooked. Spectacular fishing!!
what an absolute dream trip dude. Never wanted to go to NZ more than while watching this. Great work. Sick eat shots on so many fish. A masterclass.
Oh my word Alex. What an amazing trip, awesome scenery and your drone footage is spectacular. Loved the drone footage of the dry take. Great adventure mate. Love it
Magnifici pesci sei un grande pescatore. Complimenti
Great couple of videos man! That net job on the brownie, and that land off the rock hang was so cool.
Absolutely brilliant video, Alex!👍

Nice footage of your adventure! Thumbs up!
A very cool cast under the trees there fella.
Most excellent 👍

Super cool to hear that bro. Thanks heaps!
Yay, first comment. Love the channel please keep it. Please keep showing us the set-up and flies. absolutely love it.
Thanks! Will do!
Wieder tolle Fische👍👍👍
Great video. Backcountry trips like this are the best, in most ways.
That looked to be a fabulous day. Thanks for sharing! Now spring can not come quickly enough here in Alberta Canada.
Another grand video, Alex! Still frozen solid up here, but still have time to get ready for opening day April 1. Your vids keep me going, thanks.
Top notch content! You should have way more subscribers with your knowledge and personality!
Thanks man, hopefully we get there..💪
Fully agree
Thanks again Alex, fantastic fish and fishing, cheers for doing the hard yards for us to enjoy.
Cheers Mike
Great that you enjoyed it mate👍👍
That log brownie makes up for when everything goes wrong and you lose the fish. Everything went right so you deserve that fish😢. 😂 Another beautiful video !! Thank you Alex
Always look forward to your overnight adventures especially when there's some dry fly action.
Well this morning Saturday Feb 4 was -8 deg F!! That -22 C for you. No dry fly fishing for me this weekend! Just staying warm.
Literally every fish was fantastic, what a great river and exceptional day of dry fly fishing 😃
One of those very special days mate
Great patience deserves suck great fish, nice work!
"And then the log started to move" 🤣 crack up mate

Amazing. Best fishing on UA-cam by a mile 👌
Thanks man💪
Great work. You are the Guy Ritchie of the fly fishing universe. Cool, sharp, smart, snappy! Awesomeness!
Haha, I love his way of editing movies..!
@@TrippinOnTrout love his movie and soundtrack to Snatch. Some of your funky tunes reminded me of it!
Enjoy mate!! Autumn soon!!!
Amazing video as always and amazing skills, it's just a paradise for a flyfisher man, looking forward to go and do some fishing in NZ

What would we do without drones
Spectacular footage
Alex- what a trip, thank you 🙏

@@TrippinOnTrout Thank you Alex, all is good, looking forward to getting on the water soon!
Some of the best footage of eats and takes I've seen, Alex - amazing stuff. Hope you're well mate.
Thanks Brutha!
Well worth the time and effort on this one💪
Alex another quality vid mate. It's an absolute joy to watch 👍🍻
Thanks 👍
Another enjoyable video. Those fish were just beautiful. You did a great job filming your fishing adventure. Thanks for posting.
Cheers bro!
You said it all. maate!
🎣💯
Love your enthusiasm and respect for fish - we should all use barbless.
Yes we should! Thanks man💪
Great footage on some takes man - some magnificent looking fish!!!
Glad you enjoyed

Hot coffee in the morning is better than a 20 inch brownie 😇
I beg to differ
Another stunning quality video, by the way. 👌

Dude, you're a jedi master in fly-fishing nice work 👍👍🤜🤛
Haha, I wouldn’t go that far but I sure do like it!
Fantastic job capturing so much really cool surface action on your own.
Thanks man💪
Mate! One of the best yet. So much time involved! Thanks mate. Made my morning and got me motivated to get off my butt and get out there!
Awesome man, yeah it was a long process to edit that one!
What a day.
Those dry fly eats were fantastic, Alex! Awesome video!
Nice one Todd, stoked you enjoyed it mate

I wish I could say the weather has been good mate but it continues to rain relentlessly!
Still putting them Flypoles to the test 🔥 Wassup Wassup Alex fishing bro
It would be cool to see an episode with streamers just to see how they react and how you adapt to a new style of fishing
By the way I am also a flyfisher and I like your channel !
❤
Mean brother!!
15:47 So easy bro :D Such a stunning river. I love it. Thanks for sharing, it looks like you had a "terrible" time there ;)
Hi Alex
Just checking everything is OK beside you
As have seen the devastation caused by the cyclone hope your safe and well
Hey bro.
Thanks heaps for the msg mate. Much appreciated 💪 we didn’t get as smashed as some other regions so lucky in that respect.
Beautiful content brother.
Thanks bro💪
I love your videos, I'm really impressed with your catch and release of the fish you've caught. Do you ever keep any for your lunch. Keep the videos coming. Regards terry.
Thanks heaps. No I don’t keep any fish and in places like that there just aren’t enough to sustain people taking them at all
Funny how Brown trout sometimes look and act like logs... I've had that experience once before!
Oh yeah. Interested in your summer wading gear. Boots look a little different! Zip up. What are they please.
The new Orvis hiker boots. Out in March.
Awesome bit of kit
I had a rig keeper like you have at some point, but it's a bad way of keeping rigs. Use a pool noodle instead, works a lot better for keeping premade rigs at the ready.

I sure do miss the sound of cicadas
The sound of summer
Awesome
Love your work
What is the water filter you used?
It’s a Grayl water filter bottle 👍
Love ya videos Alex, but I’ve always wondered, had anyone ever bumped into you while your hours into a river in the bush and said “hey are you talking to yourself”. 😂

YES get that Grayl thing exposed! I love that thing, should be in every hiker, or fishers kit
Yeah it’s brilliant aye….first opportunity to actually get some time using it
Will you be bringing back Friday Fillers?
BTW. How's Irving?
Hey Alex, what wet wading shoes are you wading there? i cant find them in your gear vids. the zip up ones seem lighter than your orvis pros. what you recommend them?
Here it is ,midnight in Alberta and I'm watching fishing videos.
Glad to see the new year is treating you well.
Loved the video ! Well done !!
🍻
So epic mate! What’s your filter?
I have a polarised filter on a couple of the lenses but that’s it
@@TrippinOnTrout haha love ya work mate! Was talking about your drink bottle water filter 🙊
@@723ryno Ohhhhhhhhh🤣
It’s a Grayl filter bottle. Pretty sweet💪
Where are all of the small trout?
That rod really looks too fast for short distance fishing... seems to have more power than the D model 🤔
No it’s right in line with the F and def not too fast for what I’m using it for.
Lovely bit of kit💪
Where did you get your water bottle from??

Felt like you had it way too easy this trip, but then again I also feel like you deserve it after the horrible summer you've reported 😉
Too easy??!!!🤣🤣
