EPIC RIVER and FLY FISHING For BIG Rainbow Trout!! 4K [NEW ZEALAND]
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 вер 2024
- This summer has to be the WORST I can remember up here in the North Island of New Zealand! Constant rain and weather events has meant that most rivers within a couple of hours of me have remained un fishable, even now!
I took advantage of a rare window in the rain, found some fishable water and pushed up into a section I haven't been into before to see what I could find.
Amazing pools, runs and riffles and some big rainbow trout made the effort worth while! A longe than usual episode this week so make sure you watch this on the big screen in 4K to get the best out of it!

Great edit! Someone told me those eels actually smell fisher people, come upstream from a long ways, then get really excited about fish on the hook. Hence try not to over tire the fish. I'd guess the Maori would harvest them before Europeans came with their trout? What a great day's fishing! I've seen footage of them eating dead critters in the river. Critters I think that were killed by that poison they used to drop from helicopters in the back country.
Yep they come from a long way away to check you out sometimes
Great video thanks Alex with some beautiful fish ...
Dude !... that fish at 25 mins... you couldn't paint colour like that..
Spectacular 🤙👌
Love the white tips to the fins of the first fish..super cool
Another good one Alex, our faring better than me with finding fishable water this summer. The fish will be in great order for this coming winters fishing.
Awesome video and captures Alex. Super stoked to see nosy parker Tuna horning their way in on the action as well! Sad to think of how my mates and I abused these guys as young kids with spears & Tilley lamps, but I'll never forget the taste of smoked eel and fried puffball sandwiches. Won't even order Unagi in a restaurant now, way too much respect for these magnificent fish.
That eel was real interesting! Don’t have those in fresh water here in Montana! Nice place and nice video! 👍
Mate ... as always, amazing fishing, amazing scenary and editing too. cheers buddy ...
Awesome video, eel footage at the end was excellent 👌
Another great video man. I cannot wait to make a trip out there. At 17:03, looked like a fly in the fishes tail? Anyhow, keep up the great work!
Like always, amazing video.
Another great video! Big stonefly nymphs are my favorite fly to fish.
101 rules ! Good little section building your rig and some good commentary along the way. And the signature whio's, no video is complete without our little blue buddies
Another excellent adventure captured. Love following along on your quests. As a person who dabbles in video editing myself, I know just how much effort you put into these! Thank you.
Appreciate that Brett.
So much time editing this weeks one😅
Nice film again!! 👍🏻👌🏻
Keep them coming! 😁
Thanks! Will do!
You're right Eels are under appreciated.... although our cat loved that footage 😻. Loved the drone footage at the start and the slow-mo line control.
Haha, that’s would have been funny to watch🐈
@@TrippinOnTrout 😻
Great vid! 👍👏😁
Another great video Alex. I was wondering why your top dropper was heavier than the bottom dropper. Now I know why. We keep learning from watching your videos. It's always fun and learning from the videos you post. spectacular as always. Keep it up buddy, it's always appreciated. Cheers Alex and thanks again. 😄👍
Love it. Thanks for another banger

Awesome video again alex!
Nice one Alex, cheers bro
Fantastic!
Glad I ran across this video.
Always a pleasure !
Can hardly wait to get out fishing come spring here in Canada (Alberta)
🍻
Glad you liked it bro
Bit late getting here, but great vid mate, such a cool river too!
Alex
Great work! One of your best. Great fish, fantastic scenery, and to cap it off a dry fly take on film. Well done!
Cheers Brutha 💪
Another great video Alex, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
EELS!!! Fly fish for EELS!!! Thanks for the VID!
Excellent video, this piece of water looks excellent.
Good sync between all the video takes. It's an hard job to do I know it.
Thanks for this half hour of mind escape.
Nice video I really enjoy them keep them coming and it was nice to see you catching rainbows .
Loved every bit of this video. Thanks for posting it Alex.
Awesome mate!!!
Stoked 💪
Awesome vid Alex, jam packed with so much useful info/techniques and awesome fish🔥🔥
Appreciate it!
Awesome back country river and back drop country side. And thankyou for all your wee tips throughout your video. One question, when you crush the hook barb do you truck and trailer off the curve of the hook or employ eye of the hook to tie off. Travel safe. Cheers for the adventures
Just off the bend of the hook as usual bro
Mate, you really are a master of your trade, love the content and thanks for the explanation of the trigger finger, I'll try it when I get out.
Cheers man, hope it works for you
It’s another good un bro 🤙🤙🥓🥓
What an awesome day fishing so many beautiful fish! your casting and drifting was super spot-on! Sooo jealous. Been a very wintery winter here in Colorado😁 not much opportunity for fishing, thanks for letting us live vicariously through you during these cold months!✌️
It was a superb day on the river mate. Glad you enjoyed it 💪
Great vid mate, new water nothing better? 😊
Yeah it’s hard to beat aye bro
Your best one yet!!!!
Another great video Alex, thanks so much for all of these. One day I'd like to join you, looks fantastic. 🍻🍻
Nice one Alex, some chunky fish, eel was persistent. What bird was that? Roll casting around 16 m was interesting to see
Top content for a solo mission you really cover it so well 2nd best thing to do on a Saturday morning💯👍😀
Awesome mate!! Always good to see you here!
Fantastic as always Alex! Great transitions. Loved the drone sequence of playing the fish. Also really like the final bit of eel footage. Aside from the shot about us Yanks not knowing what a jack might be, a great video all around.
That actually wasn’t a shot at you🤣
I get heaps of people asking me what a ‘jack’ is!!
Glad you enjoyed it man, took me days to edit!
@@TrippinOnTrout no worries! Just me being a smart ass! Not everyone gets a chance to fish there. Or with you!
That’s an eel-ephant
Another gem alex and dave brilliant❤
Thanks for posting Alex, these videos genuinely make my week. Super cool!
Super quality video, super quality rainbows. #stoneflytime!
Thanks so much bro!!
Great water Alex, lovely fishing.
This may be one of the first videos I’ve seen where your hip pack was actually zipped closed while you were fishing
🤣🤣
What I would give for a river like this 😢🔥
Nice to see community growing, slowly but steady. 10k since I checked last time. Well worth/deserved :)
Exceptional filming, doubled up with excellent music.
Thanks heaps bro…we are getting there 💪
Niiiice, a 37 min video to kick off friday evening
Yeahhhhh buddeeeeee👍👍👍
Mate, what a fantastic video. That eel at the end was pretty cool.
Such cool animals aren’t they
Another awesome video Alex. Highlight of my week.
Awesome bro, stoked u enjoy them!
Another great but informative video as always bro, the best content
on youtube!!
Cool video, Alex.
Curious why you don't like euro nymphing.
If I lived in New Zealand, I would hate euro nymphing too.
because its not flyfishing bruh 😂
🤣🤣 kinda yeah😅
It’s very effective no doubt but I just don’t enjoy it really. I like to cast and manipulate a fly line 🤷♂️
Euro gimping😮
Nice 😊 🤠🤙🤙💪💯
Fair play your on 🔥
Tops mates
Another great video as always. Love the content. Keep doing the great work.
Cheers Frank👍
Great one! Last pool was immense. Loved those eels. Spooky. Do you ever catch them and are they edible?
Another great video, brother! PS: what’s the name of the tune in the beginning of the video when it first starts?
Hey mate great video. What drone setup are you using?
Danke!
Bitte!
Hello, this is an Orvis rod 9, #5
At the Final Reckoning, you will be a strong contender to win the category Most, Awesome Trout Adventures. This disqualifies you from the Most Popular category, but it is worth the tradeoff every time.
I’ll take the trade off🤣
❤❤❤
hey alex, how do you rate the fencel’s net? ✌️🤙
So you fish a 10foot rod?
On your overview of your rig you didn't mention how far below your indicator your flies were. Can you share that info as well as the relative depth of the water you're fishing? Just curious because I dont often indicator fish, I euro nymph, but I know some very slow pools where I could benefit from an indicator setup
