That's two Sonic models that are great flyers. this one and the mako or hd wing. They seem to know their stuff. I have both as well although unflown as yet. Thanks for the revue Andrew.
There is a pattern emerging. They design planes that fly very well. I have been flying the HD wing a lot lately and it is so smooth and fast. Probably the nicest wing to fly and looks great in the sky.
I'm enjoying my Ar wing with stabilized receiver , Andrew have you been flying it lately , I'm wondering how to stiffen the pushrods and thinking to remove the wing screws as they break on unplanned landings and using magnets instead to hold the wings and release and when necessary instead of ripping out.
Good stuff Andrew :) I like mine as well.. It does look to me you have a Bit less yaw-rock in yours.. Possibly because I didn't have a FPV cam mounted on mine..
Great Video Andrew. This little bugger looks like it can cover a lot of space real fast. The color scheme should show a good contrast against any horizon. Everything seems to fit quite nicely. Highly maneuverable. Cheers Florida USA
Hi Andrew, one of my push rods is screwed onto one of the wings longer Than the other causing difference in throws. How do I adjust this? Do I remove the rod from the Ailron or pull out the servo box?
Question: At 3:50 you install the propeller on to the motor, I just got this exact same model and the first thing I noticed was the propeller it came with has a larger diameter than the 5mm shaft that is on the motor. Am I missing something like some sort of small adapter? I have tons of 5 inch three blade propellers but I'm not sure if I can use one of those on it...
It comes with the motor. I guess they figure it will sell better to customers that already have their own gear. Usually only beginners planes are sold with everything.
Andrew - This looks like a perfect platform for a iNav setup. How about doing a build video adding iNav, make sure it has auto launch as well.... BTW what were the FPV goggles you used in this video. I need something like that, but they must have ability to adjust for my 71 year old eyes. Cheers another great video....
This is my favourite of the recent race wings so I'm reluctant to carve into it to fit components in the wing. Might keep it as a short range FPV wing. Goggles are Headplay SE, biggest screen around, I did a review on them.
That's what I have been watching for, another Andrew creation from a box. I will keep watching and I know one of those companies is going to fuel Andrews imagination for a creation. Sumanta, I know we all are awaiting another great Flying machine exclusive. lol Andrew is awesome.
I would try changing the small short reaching control horns so the pivot hole used is directly above the hinge line. Some flight controller stabilization seem to be causing this because SonnicModell is using small old style control horns designed for flat wood control surfaces mounted on the forward edge keeping the adjustable clevis holes in a straight line directly above the hinge line for symmetrical control surface travel up and down equal to the forward and back control rod movement before adding control throw differential if used to control adverse yaw. By locating the control horns behind the elevon hinge line it is causing reverse adverse yaw correction by the down elevon having greater travel and more deflection than the elevon going up which is opposite to the assumption that mounting the control horn behind the hinge line has the same effect as tilting the servo arm towards the rear to correct for adverse yaw. This is a big nono on an plane with ailerons that's made more complex doing it on a flying wing as it increases camber and nose down pitch on that side of the wing in a turn as a side effect. And there is also the consideration it is a foam top hinge design which has the (lessor) apparent effect of less control surface being presented to the airflow moving down due to the thickness of the wing. The end result being a combination of both effects. Because it's a swept wing there is inherent yaw control built in. As one wing side gets pulled back the forward facing wing side has more apparent working surface area facing the airflow increasing lift and therefore drag to pull it back even with the other wing. I believe what is happening to create the known waggle is a timing issue of induced yaw resulting in a roll moment with yaw correction due to wing swept repeating itself. A flight controller based on symmetry exaggerates the effect caused by an asymmetry connected to time that a human will adjust to and stop to some degree. I found your post researching this after first noticing the induced "waggle" in FPV videos with no wind and then measuring the effective elevon travel in a FrSky Vantac AR+ wing setting it up which is the same wing made of white EPP foam with the same rearward control horn location. The hardest part in fixing it is finding a new control horn that is long enough to get the clevis hole directly above the hinge line.
Hi Andrew, I am about to maiden mine but I am having trouble tracking down recommended throws for the elevons. Do you know what you were running? Thanks.
Hi Dean. I did reduce the rates a fair bit. Push rod about half way down on the servo arm (4th hole in), outer hole on the elevon control horn. Throws on 50 rate are 10mm up and down, and 100 rate are 20mm up and down
Andrew Newton I just wanted to say thanks for the advice. My first fixed wing flight in a few years and first wing. It maidened very well and trimmed out well in passthrough. Yesterday I did a 3km trip FPV running inav and RTH worked well. The throws were spot on, the only issue I have is it is hunting in RTH mode with the motor increasing and decreasing in rpm constantly bit I'm sure there will be a fix for it in inav as it tracks level in flight in passthrough.
Great review Andrew ! thx I've build the mini Arrow with styro and hot cutter helping your video and it fly very well (it's my first attempt) This wing seems to be really safe and healthy. You could maybe post or tell me the airfoil.
G'day Andrew! I was just after some advice. What is your view on the best HD action camera for a fixed wing model. I have board cams on all of my models for fpv but am thinking of buying something new for recording flights. My old mobius is getting a bit knocked around. Cheers mate Blair
Very low level, no good for voice recording, but the picture is better than the Q6. The Foxeer Legend 1 is good too, the Legend 2 is bad, the Legend 3 is awesome but expensive
Hi Andrew yet again another great video. And hows the price in Ais for the Skyhunter, fantastic thanks for that will order this week. Been looking but way to much to import and have parts from all the crashed learning planes! Now quick question do you have a setup video for the switches in the er9x software for bgl 6g ap on the flysky 9x / turnigy? Madrc doesnt and I know Im behind but trying to catch up and desperately. And now got the er9x software working. Needed to move to my more difficult planes. Cheers in advance.
Andrew Newton cheers mate. I think I have go leveling going as when move AP the servos move. But as have not used for some time on RTH can u control the servos and throttle? Because if not then just got to work that out. But it would be good to know. Just 1 step away from going to big planes after your advice to start with B3 so thanks. This looks like a great plane may be next wing, but still find sky hunter price amazing.
h1 Andrew ! U can help me ? Say me pleaase what wing better for first time ? Im know to fly buy FlyWing for me its some new feeling....For first wing what better take ? Sonic Modell AR Wing ? ZOHD Orbit or Z84 ? THX !!!
Not "AR WING" , "HD WING".... I ask about HD WING a new Wing from Sonicmodel on Bangggood ( www.banggood.com/Sonicmodell-HD-Wing-1213mm-Wingspan-EPO-FPV-Flying-Wing-RC-Airplane-KIT-p-1194161.html?rmmds=search)
Yes it is possible but not usually done that way due to the lag. Have to buy something like this www.banggood.com/Eachine-ROTG02-UVC-OTG-5_8G-150CH-Dual-Antenna-Audio-FPV-Receiver-for-Android-Tablet-Smartphone-p-1242422.html Best to have a dedicated screen or goggles

I have only flown it once since the maiden but it's my favourite of all the race wings. Smoothest wing of all. You mod ideas sound good Marcus
Good stuff Andrew :) I like mine as well.. It does look to me you have a Bit less yaw-rock in yours.. Possibly because I didn't have a FPV cam mounted on mine..
Smoothest of all the race wings I have tried Roeland, and a sweet design too
Yep.. it Is a nice wing.. gonna do some more flying with it tomorrow :)
Seams like a very cool FPV Platform !
Would like to fly this as a smal UAV
Im thinking in getting this to get a FPV small wing after quads and big FPV planes.. seems very adecuate
Yes, this is the one I recommend. Best behaved of all the little wings.
Great Video Andrew.
This little bugger looks like it can cover a lot of space real fast. The color scheme should show a good contrast against any horizon. Everything seems to fit quite nicely. Highly maneuverable.

I actually lost orientation flying LOS so maybe the all-black is not the best, but that doesn't matter on FPV of course
Did the package come with a remote control? Or should you buy the controller separated
No remote included
Andrew Newton How should you fly it then and wat app you use
Hi Andrew, one of my push rods is screwed onto one of the wings longer Than the other causing difference in throws. How do I adjust this? Do I remove the rod from the Ailron or pull out the servo box?
Mine are adjustable length. Threaded clevis clip end can be screwed to make it longer or shorter.
Nice looking wing. Great review
Hi Andrew.
Could you do an above the clouds FPV flight? That would be something. Maybe not with this plane, but you have plenty to choose from. :)
Would love to but it would attract attention from our regulators
You can check my channel for high altitude and over the clouds with this plane ;)

Probably should have adapter rings provided too. I think mine just fit straight on
Absolutely love your videos! Consider a Pros and Cons on written description.
Thanks man. I need more than 10minutes on the sticks to form a proper opinion but can't fault this one yet.
Thanks for showing a nice model. In the video I watched ZOHD orbit 900mm, will it also video?
As you wish
Any idea why this is not sold as a complete kit, including batteries, motor, camera and transmitter?
It comes with the motor. I guess they figure it will sell better to customers that already have their own gear. Usually only beginners planes are sold with everything.
Okay, thanks

Would you recommend for beginners
No, I would recommend a Bixler 2 or similar for beginners
Small but well balanced and stable wing . After the success of boxler , models are really not coming in styrofoam boxes... Right Andrew?? Ha. Ha...
So true, might have to find another source
That's what I have been watching for, another Andrew creation from a box. I will keep watching and I know one of those companies is going to fuel Andrews imagination for a creation. Sumanta, I know we all are awaiting another great Flying machine exclusive. lol Andrew is awesome.
Living good I'm waiting for the Boxler v2-cardboard edition 😜
tony sansom .... I bet Andrew can get it to fly too.. Lol
Yes u people r very right. Me too waiting for a card board version...
I have this AR but can’t get rid of waggles. It yaws back and fourth. How do I fix that. Inav 2.0 2206 2300kv motors.
Mine is nice and smooth without iNav

I have just set up a Sonic 900 how much reflex do you suggest for Elev 5mm ?
Zero reflex required. There is enough already built in to the airfoil and elevons.
Might have to check this one out after I crunch the S800 beyond repair.
Very similar, but maybe not as tough as the S800
You must of give that some serious abuse....I flew mine like I stole it and she's still rocking 🤣
Very cool thank u!
What did you get? Setting up a pid controller? Can you share it please?
No FCB on this wing. But I would recommend Matel F405 wing or F411 wing
Are they hard to fly for beginners? Been flying a little glider so far
If you can fly at all you should be right with this wing. It's a great option for your first wing.
Nice wing Andrew
From the four you have reviewed which one would you choose?
I think I like this one and the S800 for the sleek all enclosed look. Don't know which is the fastest yet.
Hi Andrew, I am about to maiden mine but I am having trouble tracking down recommended throws for the elevons. Do you know what you were running?

Nice one. I cant help with the hunting revs, let me know if you find out why.
Thanks for the vid Andrew Newton :).
is it good for a beginner - i have a flysky radio do i need to buy anything besides he BNF kit?
Dont think there is a BNF kit, maybe PNP. Will need a receiver and battery. ZOHD Orbit would be better for a beginner but the AR wing is very good.
Great review Andrew ! thx
I've build the mini Arrow with styro and hot cutter helping your video and it fly very well (it's my first attempt)
This wing seems to be really safe and healthy. You could maybe post or tell me the airfoil.
Sonic model airfoil? Don't know sorry, it has some reflex built in.
Wonder just the aifoil type of this wing. Seems that the tailing edge go up.
Will try to reproduce it.
Did you use any expo while on 50% rates?
No expo, just standard 50% elevon mix
Andrew whats the CG like alittle nose heavy ?
just setting up mine and need it as efficient as possible
Brett
CG marks are correct. Moving CG forward would reduce efficiency I suspect.
Great thanks.....yes agreed
G'day Andrew! I was just after some advice. What is your view on the best HD action camera for a fixed wing model. I have board cams on all of my models for fpv but am thinking of buying something new for recording flights. My old mobius is getting a bit knocked around. Cheers mate
Blair
I still prefer the Mobius, but Runcam 2 would be my next choice, but with crap audio
Andrew Newton yeah i watched your video on the runcam and the hawkeye q6. So the audio recording on the runcam, is it crap?
Very low level, no good for voice recording, but the picture is better than the Q6. The Foxeer Legend 1 is good too, the Legend 2 is bad, the Legend 3 is awesome but expensive
Andrew Newton thanks for the advice mate. It's valued as always!
I'm using the go pro session 4 in mine.. Cube style cam picked up on sale from good guys $140 bucks or so.. Works a treat

I could do it on the Taranis / OpenTx but I don't have any 9X radios any more.

They are all very good but ZOHD Orbit is easiest for a first wing because of the gyros. Z-84 is the fastest, AR Wing is probably the smoothest
THX ! Ordered one ZOHD ! And what u think about Sonicmodell HD Wing for second wing for long range ?
Yes AR wing would be nice for longer range FPV
Not "AR WING" , "HD WING".... I ask about HD WING a new Wing from Sonicmodel on Bangggood ( www.banggood.com/Sonicmodell-HD-Wing-1213mm-Wingspan-EPO-FPV-Flying-Wing-RC-Airplane-KIT-p-1194161.html?rmmds=search)
Does the controller come with it?
No, you need to look for RTF models (Ready to fly) for the controller to be included.
Andrew Newton thx. I’ve just ordered the plane, a controller, battery and charger from amazon. Is there a way to stream the fpv to a phone?
Yes it is possible but not usually done that way due to the lag. Have to buy something like this www.banggood.com/Eachine-ROTG02-UVC-OTG-5_8G-150CH-Dual-Antenna-Audio-FPV-Receiver-for-Android-Tablet-Smartphone-p-1242422.html Best to have a dedicated screen or goggles
un bon avion de chasse avec vol acrobatique
Yes it would be a good combat plane
sounds like an inav candidate.....
You're right, more so than some of the other race wings
I am the first viewer
First to comment.....
