Someone asked about sublimating on canvas, I know you shouldn't do it on canvas but I do it all the time and it works great. I don't use a special coating or anything, I get the basic ones from Hobby Lobby. I'm not sure if it matters but I use Sawgrass 500 with sublijet UHD ink. The canvas wouldn't work if I needed to wash it because the ink would come out. The Dollar Tree signs also work great as blanks. I paint them white and then sublimate and it gives a vintage feel. I love to sublimate their wooden pieces with patterns to make garland for stairs or mantle. Definitely experiment and have fun with it, I've had luck on things that weren't meant for sublimation. I just make sure I don't need to wash it or it won't last. Good luck!
As a beginner, I was thinking orlf purchasing bundles of htv to test out and experiment since it does work on most surfaces. Does that logic make sense?
I missed the Live today!! LOVED the technique with HTV over Permanent Vinyl 🤩🤩 Turned out soooo good!!! The HTV pattern is totally my vibe especially with the cut file… Perfection 👌🥰❤️❤️❤️
I'm hoping you lovely ladies can help me! I bought a vinyl pack from a JandJ Packaging brand this past weekend and all I've done since is waste about 5 sheets. I'm new to garment design printing and I'm just starting with DTF and vinyl paper to avoid backgrounds/borders from the regular heat transfer paper I started using two weeks ago. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong! I print my design on this vinyl paper, remove the backing (very difficult to peel which results in damaging the sheet with design -- bending), place on garment, cover with teflon (clear sheet, feels like tracing paper, don't know if it is teflon paper) and proceed to press with medium-sized domestic iron and all I get are transfers to the back of the teflon paper. Lol. I don't need to cut/weed my designs, but just peel the backing (matte). The glossy side is the design side for this particular paper. What am I doing wrong??????????????????????????????????????? I'll be checking out your channel to learn! Thanks! =). P.S. all of my printouts on this paper have resulted in wet ink all the way through the transfer attemps. =).
I'm am trying to use HTV on a glass block that I frosted and put a clear coat on. I'm having trouble getting it to stick. Any suggestions? I got the bottom some to stick. Using mini press on 3. Going to try more after work.
