5 years later and still very insightful video! Thank you!
Great video. This was a great invention by somebody. Between an out of plumb rough opening and the cheap hollow core door frames they sell, it's nice to have something easy and strong.
Good supplement to Ez Hang corporate video. Thanks for posting
EZ sent me a link to an exterior door install using the system. Apparently it still works on doors with pre-installed brick mold. For $14 you can't beat this system so I told to go ahead and ship. Thank you.
Straight-forward video on how these work! Awesome, thank you.
How does the trim fit over it with out a gap?
You guys are Awesome, may the blessing and love of God always be upon you're marriage!
The door I installed also said to replace each hinge's middle screw with longer screws (2.5" construction), going into the stud.
awesome video for self installation of hanger door. now this time is very useful. I have a plan to install hanger door by myself for private gallery. really thank you for sharing.
Nice! I have a pack of these and will be trying them in a few mins.
Awesome, how did they work for you guys? We seriously loved them.
@@FarmersWife they worked great. Much easier to use. We have one more to do. Wish we tried them earlier on.
For $14 with shipping can't beat this. I have to make my rough opening bigger first, 28" interior door coming out, 32" entry door going in. Losing too much heat in winter between house and garage.
These look great. Basically a leveling system to make it a lot easier if you're on your own. Easily worth $5 IMO. You can always shim for adjustments or to strengthen the door if you'd like, especially for solid core.
Do the ez brackets stay on door ?
Awesome! Thanks!
Love it ! Thanks so much guys
It works!!!!! Thank you for sharing! So much easier this way. 🙏👍 🚪 🔨
Glad it helped!
Thanks for the video! 👍
You bet!
SO INTO THIS AND PERFECT TIMING!!
"EZHang" Got it! Thanks 😀
Life savers!!! Thanks guys!
It’s a work in project. Thanks much. Smart people.
so what do you do when the bottom or top of ur jamb isnt flush with ur door when it's shut because each side of the wall isn't in line with each other.. this is the case most the time from what I've seen but I'd like to try these if there's a way around this
If I'm following right, these will still be helpful as they will hold the door in place. It might not be a professional opinion but seems to me you could use shims to put a slight twist in the two sides of the jambs. Remember the door trim can help cover gaps. I've seen times the walls arent plumb so you have to shave back some drywall or cut away some of the back of the trim boards.
So if you are installing an interior door with a tight rough opening, this should work?
Yes it will work. You have about 2" (1" each side of the door) leeway. Definitely more secure feeling fit with a tight rough opening.
@@FarmersWife ok I'm getting ready to install new doors in a double wide home. And a 28" door plus the jams I believe is 29 1/2" and I only have about 29 3/4 to 30" to play with. So I will try this before plan B.
Excellent video.
Should work great! Good luck!
Great video though don't you have to use shims to raise your door frame for flooring to go underneath the door?
You can cut bottom of jamb while door in place if needed with a multi tool to fit flooring under
Assuming flooring is not in already when setting door
we do 1/4 inch for carpet.. the flooring guys will cut the jamb if they need to for hard wood
Can I use shims after installing these?
You can.
It's holds the door right where you need it, making it way EZer.
@@FarmersWife thank you, I have 8 doors to hang and I will be using this.
@@samsung-eh4dv awesome, good luck. 👍
Great video and we'll explained.
Great video thanks
Is there any reason I can’t do this before drywalling? Or are these hangers designed to be used after drywall? Thanks!
Yes, you can use these before drywall. You would just mount these brackets in half an inch from the edge rather than flush.
after you install the drywall,,,
Nice. I just used these to replace a door. The biggest challenge was how out of plumb the door frame actually was. For a hollow core interior door, they seem strong enough.
Just used these for the first time yesterday for an exterior door. It took longer than 15 minutes. 😂
Same problem, door frame well out of plumb. Also a very tight fit with the prehung door. But all in all the project went well and the door is securely in place. 👍
great
PSA: Also ensure your frame studs aren't warped or bowed, if they are you can use a reciprocating saw to straighten things out. Had to install and remove my door a handful of times before I realized this.
Great Video. Did you saided draw line 1"?
If you're installing an exterior door I'm assuming you have to take the brick mold off, otherwise you won't be able to put the door in the opening with the clips installed. You'd need a very small right angle screwdriver to put the clips in with the door in the rough opening. I emailed CS at EZ about this.
The brick mold would take the place of the clips
Works if your rough opening is perfect and not made wider.
Which they always are
Thank you so much 😁
Could you have screwed a 1/2" thick block of wood to the top of the jamb to shim up your bracket?
Just a thought, nice video thanks for posting.
Yep. Definitely could have gone that route. Thanks for sharing your input.
Great video as always! What are those clips called? Where did you buy them?
called EZ hang door hangers. The links are in the description. We bought some straight from their website and also some through Amazon. Amazon was more expensive, but with Prime free shipping it ended up almost the same price. They both got to us within three days of ordering.
If you have a Menard's near you, you can get them there.
I was confused & I hang doors for a living but he kept saying reveal side? Well the reveal is around the casing (1/4” I use or an 1/8”). However I figured out he was calling the strike side the reveal ? And the hinge or butt side the weight side? Anyway I ordered them try them out! Gotta hang about 500 doors for apartments
That is correct. I use terms familiar to me maybe not the common terms in the business. The reveal side is the strike side, and the hinge is the weight side.
You guys rock!!!
Ha thanks Karen!
Great video however i do have a question.. The easy hang 6 screws is all you need to secure the door?
I depends on the door and the situation. We initially installed our interior doors with the six screws. That was sufficient for most of them, however there was 1 that the kids ran into a lot and slammed so it did move on us a little so I secured it with other screws. EZ Hang also has a kit to add more screws to the other side of the door for additional support if you want. The trim around the door would also help hold it in place, but in our home we dont have all the trim installed yet. Sorry for the long answer. Hope it helps.
@@FarmersWife Thank you .
Nice work. I'm going to be using these to hang a door this week. I think I'll feel safer with shimmig at the top hinge and replacing 1 screw with a 2.5- 3 inch screw for strength. Any thoughts ??
Thanks
Obviously there is no harm in putting your standard shim and screws. Originally I planned on doing that, just wanted these to help hold the door where I wanted. On some doors I have just used these hangers and foamed the gap and it holds pretty solid.
Easy for you say.
Seems like a good idea, but not that strong as traditional way. I guess I’ll check it out. thank you!
Never use this product without shims. The door will not stay square. I just did five doors. So far I am having to remove freshly painted trim on three of them. Since three doors will not close after two weeks I will probably just do all five doors. This will probably cost more than $1000.
I agree. These door hangers are for alignment and not for permanent door frame installation. Therefore, one must also shim the door frame to keep it from moving.
100%. These are made to help get and keep the hinge side plumb while you’re using shims and screws to attach it to the framing. They are not meant to replace regular mounting practices.
@@skepticalobserver7484 I just checked Home Depot's website still says "No shims required" and "zero nail holes in jam".
@@Michael_Biggs_ you may very well be right! I’ve never heard of or seen anyone not shim and attach into the studs. I wouldn’t do it that way.
For doors where jams go a bit long, what is the best way to trim the jamb after installation? I assume that this will be necessary to ensure our new carpet coming can be installed correctly???
Sorry I have been slow to respond. If you are installing new carpet I'm not sure I would mess with anything. Installers can/will work around jam to keep things tight. Unless you think the door itself needs raised. Do as much work before the flooring is in. It will keep things looking cleaner/finished better.
I have used these for over 15 doors. I like to add shims and 2” Brad nails in 3 spots on each side after using the EZ hangers. That also lets you tweak the jamb in case you have a twisted frame and the door doesn’t close well.
Used these yesterday for the first time and ended up doing something very similar to what you described. Door frame was horribly out of plumb, and a tight fit with the prehung door. But we made it work. All in all, these little brackets made the project much easier.👍
so what do you do when the bottom or top of ur jamb isnt flush with ur door when it's shut because each side of the wall isn't in line with each other.. this is the case most the time from what I've seen but I'd like to try these if there's a way around this

I’ll just stick with my time tested and proven technique.
Remove doorstops and shim and screw the jamb into the jack studs while shimming and adjusting jamb margin around the whole door so it looks perfect
Ez door hanger would be EVEN more easier if door manufacturers made their products much better
I am no expert but that door is just hanging on those screws? I think those were meant to help you level/adjust not replace shims.
We were worried about that as well. So I have tested it on a few doors. Most of our interior doors we have been able to hangs with these brackets. The door in our playroom had to be secured with another screws or with the other option of brackets like our exterior doors. EZ hang also sells a kit that allows you to place brackets on both sides of the door.
