- This week on Rockonteurs we meet the total tour de force that is Noddy Holder. Slade were one of the UK’s most successful bands of the 1970s with a string of unforgettable hits. In this episode he chats to Guy and Gary about those ‘crazee’ days that included driving a young Robert Plant around, his love of Little Richard, inventing part of the stage runway that all the major acts of today use and trying to avoid playing THE Christmas song to an audience of 65,000 at the Reading Festival in the middle of summer! Noddy is a legend and you can hear the band at their live best in ‘All The World Is A Stage’ - it’s as good a live box set as you’ll hear. It’s out now!
Rockonteurs is produced by Gimme Sugar Productions

Really enjoyed listening to this, thank you everybody
I could listen to Noddy talk all day long. The word "legend" is seriously abused, but he's the real deal. A proper British institution.
Been waiting for this one. Slade - quite simply the best live band ever.
By far the best live band i ever saw, their live concerts at the civic hall in Wolverhampton were the best.
Noddy Holder . A total legend. Luv the guy.
Noddy is such an eloquent, entertaining story-teller, some great stories....a living legend indeed.
Love, love, love this!!!!!!! Noddy Holder - fantastic voice.
Wow Noddy Holder....Excellent!! thanks guys :)
Omg! I leaped up as soon as I saw this!!!
I like that Noddy invented the ego ramp😂
Great interview cheers guys😉
You know when Guy and Gary have nailed the show when… you go straight to Spotify to re-listen to Slade ;)
What a great interview, just amazing. One of the first Gigs I ever went to was to see Slade ironically with Def Leppards Rick Allen who's been a mate of mine and first band member since we were kids, somehow we ended up in Slades dressing room and they were all fantastic with us, great memories.
Noddy is a national treasure. I was about 9 years old when 'coz I luv you' was first on TOTP and still rate it as one of the greats.
Perhaps being old changed me but, there seems so little joy in pop music and bands these days.
I've just realized after all these years, that Noddy Holder is one of my heroes, and I don't have many.
John Lydon credits him as his major influence.
First records I bought and I was in the fan club.
This is what I asked for. Thanks a lot. All crazee now!
Why Noddy is not a Sir is a crime, the greatest rock singer ever.
Some of the Reading gig came out on b sides or an EP, it was bloody amazing.
Fantastic guys, he's got so many stories 😂
I remember seeing Slade live at the Sheffield Show in the mid 70’s. It was my first taste of live music, never forgot it, I also remember Dave Hill giving me a wave. That made a 7 year olds day! I could listen to Noddy all day, what an absolute legend
Noddy has such stories to tell…….love it!
Very interesting interview, thanks Nod.
Brilliant episode, nearly an hour and a half but still wish it could have carried on longer. Really hope you get Noddy on again!
Great Interview
Great chat guys. Next time Francis Rossi please👍
Simply fabulous
I only know Do You Believe In Miracles but that's epic
What a brilliant interview loved it he seemed to be so natural and seem to give a lot over the years I've listened to Noddy this is the best
Saw him a few years ago, promoting his book. Had some great Ozzy stories, sadly only had a time for a few.
An hour and a half flew by.
It's funny that noddy brought up the subject of boring old farts which reminds me of catholic church goers on a Sunday breaking wind 😳 while in church when the priest was giving his sermon
The irony was that Slade were playing more or less the same set in the clubs that they played at Reading!
One of your best interviews would be nice to see it on the SCREEN
A movie should be made about Slade - Finishing with the Redding festival- don't even need a script, just get Noddy's story ;)
I want The Quatermess Experiment to be made. Sure Tim Burton would be up for it
Think it was going to be The Quite a mess experiment
Can you talk a bit louder noddy I can't hear you 😂
seen them every time they came to Glasgow Apollo
Great podcast
