The CLASSIC Danube Waves Cake 🍰🍒 - cake with cherries and chocolate - recipe in grams and cups

    Ingredients - baking pan 30x40cm/12x15inches (the measurement “cup” is always approx. information, as the original recipe is in grams)
    Dough:
    350g (bit less than 3 cups) flour
    150g sugar
    175ml (¾ cups) oil (e.g. sunflower oil)
    175ml (¾ cups) milk
    3 eggs
    1 tbsp cacao powder (baking Cacao)
    3 tsp baking powder
    1 tbsp milk
    1 glass of sour cherries without pits (large glass capacity 680g / drained weight 350g)
    Creme:
    1 packet (⅓ cup, 37g) vanilla powder
    400ml (2 cups) milk
    2 tbsp sugar
    250g (1 cup) butter
    Topping:
    200g (7oz / 0,44 pounds) dark chocolate
    4 tbsp Nutella or similar
    2 tbsp oil (e.g. sunflower oil)
    Instructions
    1. Cut the butter into small pieces and set aside to get soften.
    2. Pour out the cherries from the jar into a sieve to drain and set aside.
    3. Take 50ml (1/4 cup) of the 400ml (2 cups) milk. Mix the pudding powder and the two tablespoons of sugar together until smooth.
    4. Now bring the remaining milk (350ml / 1 ¾ cups) to boil, then remove from the heat, stir in the mixed pudding powder, bring to the boil again briefly and immediately pour into a bowl.
    5. Immediately cover the warm pudding with cling film and cover it so that no air bubbles form between the cling film and the pudding. Allow the pudding to cool at room temperature.
    6. Lightly grease a deep baking tray approx. 30x40cm / 12x15inches and line it with baking paper.
    7. Preheat the conventional oven to 180°C (160°C fan/convection / Europe gas mark 3 - otherwise gas mark 4).
    8. For the dough, beat the eggs with the sugar until creamy and then slowly mix in the oil.
    9. Mix the flour with the baking powder and stir into the egg cream alternately with the milk.
    10. Spread half of the dough on the baking tray.
    11. Mix the remaining half with the cocoa and 1 tablespoon of milk. Now carefully spread the cocoa dough over the other dough. Then spread the drained cherries on the dough.
    12. Put the dough in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. Then let the cake cool.
    13. Stir the soft butter until creamy. Remove the cling film from the room-temperature pudding and add it to the butter spoon by spoon and stir in.
    14. Spread the pudding cream evenly on the cake base. If the base has not cooled down enough, put the cream in the fridge.
    15. for the topping, melt the dark chocolate in a water bath, then add the Nutella and the oil and mix. Now spread the liquid chocolate topping evenly over the cake.
    16. For cooling the cake the best is to store it in the fridge.
