Bingo. Good one. I have been saying some of this all along. Still, many matches have not been arranged (laletin, kurdecha, morozov, revaz etc). Would be nice to once see somebody with his leverage as an opponent. Might not happen.
Question: If I, as someone who has shorter arms, armwrestle someone who has longer arms, shouldn't I have the leverage advantage since his longer arm is acting as a bigger lever for me to apply force through while he would have to apply even greater force to match it, since the lever on my arm is shorter for him? (Just straight side pressure, no hand advantage).
Id have to disagree with you on this one. There are some advantages to having a longer arm (like you probably have a large hand) but it is definitely not an advantage to have a long arm. I think this is one of the biggest misconseptions in arm wrestling. It is common knowledge from the top pros like brzenk, bagent, larratt, etc that the most ideal build would be short arm huge hand
There are a lot of successful top rollers with shorter arms, such as Ermes, John and Irakli. But I wanted to highlight Devon's long arm because he's too versatile.
It’s inaccurate to say either way. It totally depends on the person and how effectively they utilize any lever advantage they have against their opponent. We see Devon effectively use his lever advantage.
If your forearm is short you need a lot of containment and cupping to get on top, your other option is sideways hit with a flop wrist. If you have a big hand you'd have easier time cupping over someone's pronation. While that is true it doesnt mean that shorter is better.
@@overthebarhorter is always better bar superheavy due to bigger frame being able to pack on more mass. Short arm at capped weight= stronger, short arm starts with higher hand, (I have a 10 inch forearm I never have to contain anyone my fingers point to the sky) no containment needed, shorter arm starts more vertical, someone like devon does so well because he uses his forearm length to cheat in getting webbing height and he has unreal thumb/pronator, also STRAP favours low hand because access to drag through strap, trying to low hand with a short arm & small hand is a death sentence unless your opponent is trying to hook you. Devon always wants the strap because outside of strap his long arm would force him to hold on, look at his practice with brzenk few weeks ago where he tries to hold on outside of strap, devon redlining like fuck, very long arm= you have to hold on, unless you use it to cheat webbing height or force a strap (devon always forces strap and says all matches should be strap)
Ofc it's buddy, in fact, it's longer than 95% of people. Mine is 51.3 and I'm actually a good toproller. Ermes' arm is shorter than yours and he's the 2nd best explosive toproller ever.
riser strength doesnt matter at all, you just need to start higher than opponent and even levan riser wont matter thats why i want stricter reffing because current rulesets favour longer forearms, refs just let people with tall arm setup horizontally against people with 5cm less forearm lol like what, basically give up superheavies if your forearm is less than 50cm
Devon's elbow to finger tip length is 54 cm and his hand length is around 23-24 cm, 54-23=31cm , 54-24=30 cm How his forearm is long? My ulna bone length(forearm length) is 30 cm and hand length is 20.6 cm. And I am 181 cm tall!
Yea, but he shoulder start position in all match are cheat, just look how arm and sholder are too close, also his body dont stay straight, thats give him advantage to stop match in start.. he is super strong but he also use all tricks..
This is what I call quality content. Keep going buddy, almost there.
That's the plan!
Almost there? He is there! Thats some high quality H2O
@@SeanDude76 OMG thank you so much for this amazing support.
This is very accurate illustration, thanks for this video.
Glad it was helpful!
4:03 he used to train his side pressure excessively when he was around 30. Look up his older videos. And this video is amazing!
I'm a Tai chi pushing hands guy and i can say that the structure of Devons stance is impeccable

It would be amazing if he competes with these guys.

Long arm is advantage, that is FACT. People with short arms will always fight uphill battle, just check out what happened to Zurab.
