  • Devon Larratt's training methodology has evolved significantly, particularly as he faces new challenges in the world of arm wrestling.
One of the most notable changes in his approach is his decision to shift away from the heavyweight division, where he has long been a dominant force, and instead focus on competing in the U115KG (253 lbs) or U105KG (231 lbs) weight classes.
This transition reflects his belief that there's little room for further improvement in the heavyweight category, and that competing in a lighter division will allow him to stay competitive and continue to pursue world titles.
In terms of training techniques, Larratt has also been more collaborative, recently teaming up with other strength athletes like Brian Shaw. This collaboration has brought fresh perspectives to his training regimen, incorporating elements such as resistance band exercises and a focus on wrist and forearm strength, which are crucial for arm wrestling.
Larratt's willingness to adapt and integrate new methods demonstrates his continuous effort to refine his skills and maintain his position at the top of the sport

Armwrestling training is the most controversial topic I know.
2 guys can do the opposite training and both can be world champion
You really need to find what is best for you

Ultimately I believe the Georgian style training method is the best for most people including Devon if he chose to implement it, And the Georgian’s have 4 East v West champions as evidence.

Yeah I can see where you’re coming from considering the Georgian style of training highly emphasizes bicep curls to strengthen back pressure which has contributed a ton to their wins.
However if you look at Devon’s recent style of training and matches you can no doubt see its effectiveness in increasing pronation, rising, and hand strength.
So in my opinion I believe the best style of training for anyone wanting to be as strong as possible is to combine both training methods to be well rounded in every aspect of arm strength.

But biceps is basically only a synergist muscle. There seems no use to train it extensively except you're a freak, which open toprolls with his biceps

@@Bedwyr9 Yeah but I’m mainly referring to the Georgians smartly including base strength compound movements such as pull-ups, bench presses ETC.

@@tilmanrotationalinvariant2257 there is a lot of use of bicep outside of open top roll it is very well the most important muscle if your side pressure is the weakest link in the chain and you hook someone but your arm is stronger then you can still drag them to your side and pin because your arm is stronger
In top roll back pressure is most important

For georgians, you me and everyone here who is not training with georgians in Georgia, we dont know what they actually do in training as whole. We only see what they post in socialmedia and its mostly just biceps and wristcurls but believe me 100% they do other stuff aswell. Rehabilitation rutines, light weight training, their table sessions...Very few people actually posts what they really do or film whole trainingsession. Bulgarians are pretty open about it and its mostly just tabletime and Procopciucs own channel he has very detailed videos about his training.
Most people want to post videos of their best/biggest lifts but its only part of story, same as tablesessions who wants to post videos of some randoms pinning them in training and believe me its happening its just seldomly posted online.

Focus on what most of the very best guys in your sport have done and are doing to reach and remain at the top. For every Tony Ferguson, there are 10 GSP's, who did everything the conventional way.
Ive also not bought the whole "im too dilapidated to do anything other than what I'm doing" gimmick. No, i think he's too committed to whatever idea he has at the time. He puts out a video of him leaving the MRI place saying, "i have a completely clean bill of health," and then he tells everyone "oh my joints are too arthritic for biceps curls."
Dude. This is a strength sport. It's not wrist or hand wrestling; it's armwrestling. Get in there and do what everyone who's ever beaten you has done. I cannot and will not believe that he has the health required to pull in a hook with Gennadi like a year ago but doesn't have what it takes to do some moderate intensity strict curling or anything.
Also, what does he define as overeating? Skittles and corn chips? I just watched John Brzenk 3-0 one of the largest 25 year old men on the planet at the age of 60. I saw Michael Todd, who is older than Devon, flash pin someone who everyone said might eventually threaten Levan. Find a damn way, Larratt.
The SHW days are at least unforseeable at the moment, but if they ever return, i hope he follows through on what he said to Kurdecha about bench and biceps and whatnot. And does a slow, moderate, clean caloric surplus without stuffing himself full of Big Brother's slop.
