I think that the meaning of the story is that sometimes even the people that help others need help themselves. The clown helped other laugh, but they took him for granted and assumes that he was always happy, when he also needed help to laugh just like them, and when he asked for it he couldn't find someone. The clown, despite being the best at his job, still needed a pick me up like everyone else does from time to time. We're all human.

Hey Joe Pat here, great video. The meaning behind the story….well I feel it’s like Robin Williams or people like him. Sometimes people like the man in the story put on the mask. The man is so depressed and hurting but he is the clown. He puts on the mask and makes everyone laugh, and yet no one is around to make him laugh. He’s puts on the face of happiness when he is not truly happy Inside.
All alone in a crowded room
He tries to force a smile
The smile it beamed or so it seemed
But never reached the eyes, disguise
Masquerading as the funny man do they despise
The false smile maketh of the man
Glass empty or half full
Try to make some sense or sorrows drown
All looks well on the outside

I have plenty knifes so u can give it to someone that needs it, Thank you. As for the story , the moral. "Its great to make others happy but never forget to make room for urself." It may or may not be what u wanted but is my take. Now the thing that is bothering me. I think its great u can twirl that cane BUT please dont allow it to give u a false sense of security. Please work on 2 things ,1st make ur block ur strike . 2nd without going off balance practice 2 power blows back to back. And I mean blows that will incapacitate. Everyone is different and so is every encounter. U dont know their strong points they dont know urs so never underestimate them and when u engage never hold back! Thank u for ur time and vid.safe trails and love for all!☯

the clown wanted to give to others what he couldn't give to himself. the clown was valuable to the world by providing laughter and joy but the world held little value to the clown.
The message of the Story is we never know what sorta things people are going through on the inside. We expect the Clown to brighten our spirits, but who is there to help the Clown to Laugh experience and joy.
