    Thanks for the great comments, everyone. I hope besides just making my bracelet design people also deploy it and USE the cord from time to time. THAT'S what makes my design unique! Unlike woven designs which are tedious to remake, mine's so quick and easy you don't hesitate to unravel it for everyday tasks!

    Mike i use your design everyday, except i dont make a bracelet i make zipper pulls. real world use, almost weekly, anything from fastening my bike on the rack to tying doors closed when they cannot close properly. you are a legend.

      @MeZillch  8 років тому +1

      Wow thanks. I'm glad you are getting good use out of the bracelet, er, I mean, zipper pulls. I use them that way too especially on the zippers of my tool kits. i.e. pocket organizers.

    Man you are GENIUS! Thanks for all these ideas. What you are showing us actually are somthing we can use in real life, you are not filling us up with BS! Respect for this great design once again sir :) tip: i think i will dip that floffy cord to wax and that will make it burn longer i guess. Thx thx thx :)

    • @MeZillch
      @MeZillch  5 років тому +1

      Thanks. The wax idea is good to increase burn time but test to be sure the jute twine will still ignite from sparks once coated. You may need to leave at east part of the jute raw. Not sure.

    Thanks for these videos. I've switched to this design from the more common one. One mod I've done is to heat up a nail or paper clip and melt a hole directly below the stopper knot (the loop then conceals the blemish). I do this to weaken the cord so that if my bracelet were ever caught on something (fence, tree-limb, machinery, etc.) the bracelet would tear off. I think this is especially wise for those making bracelets for children (as I do for my son).

      Thanks! You've brought up an important topic. I think using some sort of breakaway safety makes sense, especially for kids, but in my own testing I couldn't find anything which I liked via modifying the raw paracord that seemed consistent and reliable. I first tried reducing it down to just the outer sheath, as well as then another attempt of making it hold on via just one of the inner 7 strands, but besides looking ugly I decided that the stuff is still so darn strong that even reducing it down to these thinner cords it still is strong enough to rip through flesh. Might I recommend that people buy aftermarket breakaway clasps instead of making their own. They are small, neat, tidy, easy to add on, and most importantly they have a reliable and consistent breakaway force which is important for safety. Amazon sells these from various vendors and this one I've selected randomly seems like a good value. 25 for $5 and free shipping:www.amazon.com/Easy-Barrel-Breakaway-Lanyard-Connectors/dp/B00PFZJMTU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1467052064&sr=8-1&keywords=Breakaway+paracord+Connector+OutdoorBunker

      If one's goals are speed and ease of use, both in regards to construction and then deployment when you need cord, I WIN! :) Thanks for your comment.

    Great video. I always enjoy watching them and I make sure that I do so when no one can bother me so I don't miss anything.
    I'd like to see some more ideas for adding in little mini kits. I liked the fishing kit, and ferro rod idea. I actually replaced the inner strands of one of my 550 boot laces, with 30 lbs. test braided fishing line. I pulled all the strands out but one, and then looped about 70 feet of fishing line, the same length as my boot lace sheath and tied the fishing line to that one inner strand I left in, and pulled the fishing line through the sheath of the 550. On each end I added a couple split shots to the fishing line before sealing up the sheath. Then I duct taped some hooks to the inner flaps where my laces go on my boots. My boots always have a fishing kit now.
    I can see doing some thing like this with your bracelet if you have a fishing kit in it.
    Seeing you add this to a knife, gave me the idea to add a nice length to a sheath knife or maybe even make some sort of tie down for around your leg??? That would give you a lot of 550 and it wouldn't cut into your leg as bad as a single length of 550 would.
    One last thing, when melting the end, spin it like you did here when making te whirling sound and the end will whip into very nice point. That's how we made our 550 boots laces in the military so we had points.
    I'm looking forward to the mega bracelet. Keep up the great work.

    • @MeZillch
      @MeZillch  8 років тому

      Thanks. I'll have to try out that whirling trick when melting the tips you mention. Sounds cool. As you know, I like keeping my bracelet as 100% paracord, nothing else, because the little items get in the way during rapid deployment and fly across the room when you yank the rip cord out too quickly. I prefer to keep these extra items on my keychain and mini kits so I can deploy the cord for everyday tasks without fear of losing the items, but remembering your comment in earlier videos I knew there are many people who prefer to integrate these things into the bracelet so that section of the video where I showed how to slide the ferro rod into the gutted sheath and the fishing kit in the sealed straw were for you! I think you will dig the MEGA bracelet, by the way, because it has more room for stuff and, get this, unlimited cord storage capacity limited only by how big you're willing to make it!

    • @wjf213
      @wjf213 8 років тому +2

      I can't wait to see the MEGA bracelet video. I do agree with you though about things flying out when you want to use the cord, but I'm thinking having one for everyday wear and one for going on hikes or out in the bush some where.
      I do love the ideas you came up with for fishing and fire and I have an idea for water as well. I was thinking of rolling up one of those oven bags and laying it next to the inner cords and then wrap it up in the bracelet. Maybe even use a very small piece of tin foil to compress the bag even more??
      I was also thinking about using a plastic hollow shaft from a Q-tip and cutting it down to maybe a half inch and filling it with potassium permanganate, and sticking it inside the sheath, as extreme water treatment. It will treat a lot of water and has a shelf life that is almost forever.
      I know I can get 5 or 6 loops of 30 lbs. test fishing line inside the sheath, and if I have an 8 foot length of 550, that's easily 80 plus feet of fishing line, with sinkers and I haven't changed anything as far as how the bracelet works.
      I'm just trying to find a good striker for the ferro rod now.
      I really enjoy making little kits like this, and I'm going to give a few of these ideas a try this weekend. Keep up the great work.

      @MeZillch  8 років тому +1

      Yes, having two bracelets as you just described makes perfect sense. The oven roaster bags are great because they are fairly tough and can even take boiling water temps. Someday I plan to test one by boiling water IN THE BAG. To keep the flames from melting it I was thinking of wrapping it in aluminum foil to distribute the heat This may sound crazy but some people have found they can even boil water in paper bags, I believe referred to by some as the hobo method.

    Shortest bracelet might be good for holding a small whistle so it's always close by. You could also wear another longer bracelet next to it to store a length of cord.

    Is it essentially just a really long noose?

    • @MeZillch
      @MeZillch  8 років тому +1

      Yes, in a nutshell, it is a long noose that grabs an Ashley's stopper knot making a ring, a bracelet. I only learned this recently from a viewer who pointed this out to me!

    • @risinsunset

      +MeZillch in this specific one? Isn't it too thin?

    • @MeZillch

      I prefer to carry my survival items on my keychain and keeping my bracelet 100% paracord, nothing else. If you dig carrying lots of cordage or lots of room for extra items you will dig my MEGA bracelet coming soon.

    • @MeZillch
      @MeZillch  8 років тому

      I've always wanted one of those hats but I don't own one. I would think it would work though. Using a thinner paracord like 325 instead of traditional 550 might looker sleeker. I don't know.
