The Blue Comet is a great set, and it's available at the I Love Toy Trains Store! SRP: $369.99 SALE! $299.99 call 219-879-2822 or visit www.ilttstore.com/
and by the way. i like my favorite train is the blue comet. blue is my favorite color as Thomas, Edward and Gordon. i like the original 8801 blue comet with 6 passenger cars set. 8801 blue comet, 9536 Barnard, 9537 Halley, 19000 Giacobini, 9538 Faye, 9539 Westphal and 9540 Tempel.
I think that is a really cool set, but I would have a bigger locomotive to match the tender and I would have had the locomotive resemble the real one a bit more, like having that cylinder on the smock box, an extra set of drive weals, and the name of the train on the front of the locomotive just like in the picture. other then that, the train is cool and is something nice to bring back from the prewar times.
The tank on the front of the boiler is a feed water heater, it was used to prewarm the cold water from the tender before entering the boiler to maximize thermal efficency. The real blue comet was an amazing machine, its top speed was about 100mph but usually ran a steady 70mph.
if there was a way to swap sound boards id put the blue comet's whistle sound on my 0-8-0. that sure sounds like a big boy whistle stuck on a blue comet lol
I would rather buy a original standard gauge blue comet instead of the new one, the original probably cost about 9000 something but it will be worth it
Not a fan of the tender being bigger than the engine or the locomotive being completely wrong, nice looking set otherwise. Something attractive about a bright blue train.
I personally hate this set. I think the tender is too big, the tender and the engine are WAY too far apart, the locomotive is WAY too small, the cowcatcher is too high up, the cowcatcher is just a plastic mold with no holes, there is a severe lack of details, and I think Lionel should've gone with the original 4-6-2 Pacific design. My Santa Fe 0-8-0 Switcher set has more detail than this model. I can clearly tell that this model lacks so much. I wouldn't mind the Atlantic switch if they made the proportions better and they put the locomotive closer to the ground. It’s just an awful set…
It gets worse when you realize they have a similar sized 4-4-2 with the iconic feedwater heater that they could have used, would have kept the set affordable and look 10x better
@@TrainGuru if they had a correctly portioned tender and a proper feedeater heater (still a 4-4-2) this set would be great, it would look cool and still be affordable.
The loco is awful but the cars and sounds are very nice. They should have used a more pro-typical Pacific. I really can’t believe it’s basically a cheap Lionel Scout as the locomotive. I don’t think this set does the Original pre war set any justice.. it’s just junk.
I always wanted to have the Lionel Blue Comet and to see something like this is incredible.
Gosh the Blue commit it's so pretty ,reminds me of other beautiful Trains like the Santa Fe.

9 months ago Same here too. What happened to the original real life Blue Comet Train?
@@jamieolberding7731 sadly they scrapped them I think one coach may still remain
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Comet
@@budgiemama7698 That's unfortunate and a shame.
Nice to see you again TMBooks I like the water tower with the interior showing.
Dang. If there was one train set to get me into Lionel. It would have to be the blue comet. It looks amazing
Like & well told • Cheers from The Detroit & Mackinac Railway 🚂
this is an awesome looking train I want it for Christmas
Love that Blue Comet!
and by the way. i like my favorite train is the blue comet.
blue is my favorite color as Thomas, Edward and Gordon.
i like the original 8801 blue comet with 6 passenger cars set.
8801 blue comet,
9536 Barnard,
9537 Halley,
19000 Giacobini,
9538 Faye,
9539 Westphal
and 9540 Tempel.
yeah mee too, would find that set over this one and not buy that lc plus one
Certainly would be better with a Hudson, like an old #2065, with the classic feedwater heater up front.
yes
I agree Lionel totally missed the mark with this set.
Well I mean the orginal set had a 4-4-4 so I wonder if the 4-4-2 is a homage to the orginal set’s engine, but with one last wheel
Yes I have a 665
The 1970's version used a 2046 style Hudson with the feed water heater. It was a fantastic looking engine.
The whistle sounded like the vision line and legacy big boy
It does
Agreed
Amazing! When I see the blue comet I think of thomas
I love these railroad crossings
The blue comet is definitely THE toy train of the year.
Such wonderful reminiscence of those days
Absolutely fantastic and beautiful forever and always Lionel trains now and forever
Blue Comet is no doubt one of my favorite trains.
I have in in MTH Rugged Rails, MTH Premier 2 Rail, and HO Broadway Limited.
my only gripe with the set is that the tender is taller than the engine
Agreed.
I want to know why they just didn't use the Lionchief Pacific?
I was going to say the same thing. I bought this set.
EXACTLY! that is my major issue with it as well! Wonder why they didn't think that part through.
Good looking set. Thank you for sharing. Thumbs up. I love TM videos.

@@jasonrackawack9369 cool. I wonder if any of it survives?
Any chance you do a video about Thomas the Tank Engine?
Either it needs a bigger engine or a smaller tender.
I want this
What is that water tower at the very end?
That's a modern era reproduction of Lionel's 38 water tower made in '46 and '47.
@@tmbooks you haven't been uploading for 3 months is everything okay sugar cube
That your showing the blue comet lionel train i saw an all new toy story train set and if you do that jeff i,d be waiting and ready
I Get A Lionel Lionchief Blue Comet Set.
Thank you for lionel history.🚂🚞🚞🚞🚞🚞🚞🚞
Can you also do a video about Carlisle and Finch trains from I Love Toy Trains Part 12?
How about also doing a video of the Underground Railroad from I Love Toy Trains 9?
That train is awsome but I do think that the blue comet wold have a deep whistle but this one sounds like the vision line big boy lol.
I just wish i had this train set
How about also doing the alien attack from I Love Toy Trains Roar of the Rails?
yeah! James Brian Coffey! Says!
if there was a way to swap sound boards id put the blue comet's whistle sound on my 0-8-0.
that sure sounds like a big boy whistle stuck on a blue comet lol
I love the Lionel Blue Comet because it's blue because it's my favourite colour. Thomas the Tank Engine is blue too.
review lionel Bluetooth Thomas.
Can U get James Coffee to sing a song about Gerard Steam Locomotives?
That would be epic, considering a lot of them were made in Lima Ohio
I cant help but think this but the passenger cars are basicly the polar express cars exept the obvious like the different color etc etc
I would rather buy a original standard gauge blue comet instead of the new one, the original probably cost about 9000 something but it will be worth it
I always felt the tender Was too big On this model
thats amazing dude
Is it made of plastic or some type of metal/strong plastic?
Like how much is the cost of this set?
5.0 set?
It has 4 big wheels
The engine is a tad bit too small for the tender.
I have that train😃

It’s essentially a postwar scout painted blue with bullshit lioncheif controls. Really a pathetic set
I agree. It’s poorly made.
@@TrainGuru if they had a correctly portioned tender and a proper feedeater heater (still a 4-4-2) this set would be great, it would look cool and still be affordable.
Completely agree.
Why doesn't lionel just bring back the lionel legacy now that really looked like the blue comet
4 4 2 looks chincy
Tender sits too high compared to the locomotive
Locomotive
the new one looks nothing like the og at all
Doesn't lionel make trains that's post to look like the real thing. I mean come on it doesn't even look like the blue comet.
