  • Diagnosed with colonic inertia, Erica endured chronic constipation for nearly seven years. After Erica and her gastroenterologist exhausted many common treatment options with little success, Erica was referred to a Temple colorectal surgeon where she had a total abdominal colectomy to help relieve symptoms and improve her quality of life. “Recovery was so quick. I was out of the hospital in four days, at the gym two weeks later - and feeling great. It changed my life for the better.”

Calling this doctor office tomorrow. Going thru this too long. Colonic inertia is so painful I can't take it. None of these doctors I have seen seem to understand how to deal with it. Thank you for sharing

HELP my wife has been constipated for years now, we have no life are kids don't have a life. UK doctors won't help. i'm at the end. my wife is at the end.she has taken all the medications in the doctors arsenal none have worked.she has tried all the witch doctors too, nothing.she is a happy lovely mum, wife and person. who can't be her best i'm afraid she will give up.i'm righting this on the eve of my birthday knowing tomorrow she will be in great pain and throwing up and worst of all feeling massive gilt because she feels shes letting everyone down.i know this is just silly asking for help but today this is all i can do except love her and stick by her and spend another night researching. thanks for the space to talk mike.she has even begged for a colostomy bag, which is a big deal for her as she was a swimsuit model. she doesn't care she just wants to play with her kids.

Can you guys travel to another country to get treated? Living with constipation greatly reduces a person's quality of life and it doesn't have to be that way. There are multiple surgical options that can treat it.

I’m SO glad I found your video. I’ve been battling GI problems. Recently I got the diagnosis that I also have Colonic Inertia. They are trying one last medication, and if that doesn’t work it’ll be surgery. Thanks to your story I went out of my way to find Dr. Ross. I’m very comfortable with him doing it now after hearing yours. I’m from Tennessee so I drive 10 hours for him.

I have been left suffering with slow transit Bowel for 12 years and the consequences of having to strain so much have been devastating:- Duodenal Diverticulum, the nerves to my leg permanently damaged and I am in a wheelchair, pelvis ligaments have come loose and I am in agony; damaged nerves resulted in reduced blood supply to my feet, causing damage and more pain.

Thank you for this video. I have had this issue since I was an infant. But many doctors did not diagnose me correctly. I have to see one more doctor for a consult for a sacral stim but my colon has not functioned well for a long time.

Meanwhile... I can barely get a doctor to order a test let alone provide more than "have you tried talking laxatives..." If I hadn't I wouldn't even be here talking to you... I've literally tried everything!

What was the name of your procedure?
and you have no stoma or colostomy?
    That’s wonderful.
