For the guy who didn't like this versioin of Ave Maria, that's fine everyone has a right for their opinion, but Franz Schubert's version of Ave Maria is not the only version out there. Ave Maria has been sung many different ways throughout Christianity. But Dimash is Muslim, and Igor is Jewish. So Igor being aware of the different religious backgrounds of both himself and Dimash and lots of people of this world, he wrote an Ave Maria for Dimash without words because this is a prayer for humanity and not everyone speaks the same language. Igor does like to show off Dimash's voice, more than Dimash does. Listening to a song Dimash composed, to a song Igor composed is very evident. Vocal range is not the only bag of tricks he has, but emotions and meaning behind the song. Dimash is a man of Peace, not of ego or wealth, which is very hard for westerners to completely understand.
I think it was more an expectation thing that colored his opinion. It's hard going into blind reactions like this while also having all the info. We are learning now the reason that he did this and it's a pretty amazing reason for doing it the way he did.

Schubert`s version may be the most famous in the western world, but just listen to the album Tarja Turunen released in 2015 with twelve different Ave Marias, the last one composed by her. We are learning such a lot about music, singing and other cultures by watching Dimash. He is more than a just the best voice in the world, he is an “accidental” educator and peacemaker. He has recently been appointed by the UN as a peace ambassador for the welfare of migrants, especially in Asia. He supports many more philanthropic endeavours. His music is but one medium.
Notice at the beginning when Dimash is getting ready to sing you hear the heartbeat slowing down before stopping then Dimash sings its like the passing of life to be greeted by the angels. To me this is the closest you will get to heaven without going there. Even though this isn't the Catholic Prayer version it still gets the message across beautifully

“On one of the nights, about three months before New Wave, Dimash called and asked if I could write 'Ave Maria' for him and he explained that he wanted to sing something in that style... There are hundreds of Ave Maria’s by different composers from Schubert to Verdi to Gounod. This is specially composed by Igor Krutoy for Dimash. Dimash is Muslim and Igor Krutoy is Jewish. This is a Vocalise and is like a Universal Hail Mary. This is more difficult than having words to sing. This also displayed the purity of his voice. It is so beautiful.
Reacting to Dimash is a journey, and I think there should be a different sequence of songs. He should not be reduced to his vocal range but rather to the emotions he conveys with his voice. We, his dears, admire him not only for his voice but also for his character. He is humble, kind, and charismatic; he has strong moral and family values and respects his fans. I think you should react to some older songs like "SOS," "Sinful Passion," and "Love is Like a Dream." The song "Across Endless Dimensions" shows a more rock side. And let's not forget his masterpiece "The Story of One Sky," where the music video is like a true movie with very strong symbolism that conveys a message of peace and unity, which is very important nowadays. His fans come from over 100 countries, different background, different cultures and religious beliefs, even from countries whose governments hate one another. This song has reached 23 million views in a fairly short period, like one of you said, it worked! It has a kind of commonality for all. When it comes to dimash, it’s best not to set expectations early, expect surprises. He surprises me every time and I absolutely love it.

You know how many versions of Ave Maria exist in the world ? Over 200. I thnik you were expecting to hear the Shubert version.
Every composer comes up with his own version and the here is nothing wrong with that. In this case Dimash asked Igor Krutoy to compose a version without any words for a very specific reason.
You see, the point of this vocalise wasn't being pretty, but to show that people from different backgrounds or religion can be united by the same music.✌️❤️

There are many versions of Ave Maria. The one you are thinking of is Schubert’s version (which was not originally written as an Ave Maria). It is the most well known and sung by many. Bach wrote his Ave Maria 100 years before Schubert. This was written specifically for Dimash and is closest to the Caccini version. You definitely saw Ave Maria - just not the one you expected.

Ugh. I just KNEW it was Jerzey who was against this song because of the faces he was making against it. Dude, there are MANY versions of Ave Maria. Igor Krutoy, who is a very famous composer/pianist/billionaire, wrote this version specifically for Dimash because he wanted to show the angelic side of his voice AND include ALL religions. He was NOT showing off. He was displaying his sensitivity to cross boundaries with ALL religions, not just his own and Igor's. To say he was just "showing off" is demeaning to this version of this song. How this didn't profoundly touch you is beyond me. I sobbed the first time I heard this because it was so heavenly, so angelic. I guess some people cannot appreciate different. The better explanation is the one that hitomiochiai8787 gave explaining WHY this was written the way it was. Spot on.
The pianist is Igor Krutoy, a well known Russian composer who has been heavily involved in young peoples talent shows hence his appearances in shows where Diana performed at an early age. He composed the music for Tomorrow is a Lie for Lara Fabian to sing originally (she wrote the lyrics).
He also used his charitable foundation to buy Diana an apartment in Moscow after she won the 2018 You Are Super talent quest so she could attend a top level institute to further her musical studies.

The traditional Ave Maria /ˈa.ve maˈri.a/ means "All Hail Mary" and it is a prayer to Maria the mother of Jesus for the Catholic Church. It is not ONE song: many composers used that prayer as lyrics for their compositions
Most people thought this would be the traditional prayer but this is not the Franz Schubert´s Ave Maria, on Bach/Gounod´s, or Michael Lorenc´s or Ave Maria di Caccini. I know them well because I used to play them when I studied to play the piano.
His singing this being a muslim in a country where there are almost no Christians would be completely misunderstood. Dimash did a new one composed by Igor Krutoy and I guess that it started to take form from that featuring in "Love is like a dream. It has not lyrics, it is magic using only one vowel and impressing on it the feeling of that prayer.

You assumed he is going to sing the Ave Maria you knew .... It is not his fault you misunderstood. This is a new compostion by Igor . He didn't promised something else.
Now that I've read that this is a vocal version of Ave Maria, it puts a different perspective on the song. It's a version that is universal and respects any beliefs or non beliefs. I would haved loved to hear the lyrics, but as Butcher said, it worked. You don't need lyrics to this version. It's beautiful, it's moving and also haunting.

Which words? There are multiple Ave Maria songs, this is a new one. And of course he is not going to sing about the christian words: he is muslim and Krutoy is jew. I think is perfect the way it is, so you can enjoy it no matter what you belive in.
