  • A Pioneer VSX 919AH home theatre receiver that was sold to me 'working'. It had a broken remote, broken input selector and non-functional rotary encoder (volume knob). This video shows step-by-step instructions on how to open and fix the Pioneer AXD7553 remote, as well as a useful method to repair broken plastic knobs, and full instructions on how to repair a rotary encoder. These were tested with AAD (by Phil Jones) home theatre speakers. If you're bored, have ADHD or need to skip ahead, jump to:
    00:00 - general introduction,
03:18 - how to open and repair the Pioneer AXD7553 factory remote,
    10:13 - remote control reassembly,
11:55 - useful broken plastic knob repair method using a wooden dowel,
12:57 - Removal and repair of the rotary encoder (volume knob),
18:11 - Amplifier detailed review, including on-screen display, remote functionality, sound fields and automated speaker setup using Pioneer's MCACC.

Hi, recently I bought the vsx919ah struggling to set up the equlizer, I have the duplicate/replace remote and can not access the mcacc through the tv. Any advice that you can provide

It's possible it's not the correct remote. Many in the Pioneer family use similar remotes on identical IR frequencies, but not all can access all functions (check vsx919ah manual for the correct remote model number). MCACC is at best, a guess, and measurements of delay times are usually not correct anyway. I would access MCACC via the front panel controls (or a combination of front panel and remote), and go from there. I'm happy to let auto setups do there thing, but I always use my own ears to tune anyway.

Does the fan on your unit run continuously? Mine runs ALL the time. I'm not sure if it is a fault or not.

@igotafix should only run when temperature is high on heat sinks. You have a fault.
