    Not saying that people shouldn't go to college/university, but I think it is amazing how God can use people in amazing ways even without a college degree... So encouraging and allows me to stress a little less about having the "perfect" life

      Rachel Grace True...the greatest misconception these days is every one thinks you have to go to collage/Uni after high school. And that is not the case at all. The only people who absolutely need to go to collage/Uni are the people who've chosen to become a doctor/nurse, librarian, or a lawyer.

    • @RachelGrace_Fearlessly

      Yes, for sure! :) I know many people enjoy college/uni but it's not for everyone.

    It’s nice to know that my story is very similar to yours. I too, dropped out of university after one year and then pretended I went back 🙄 lying to your parents is the most heartbreaking thing you can do to them. Always be honest, it helps the heart in situations like this. And there’s nothing wrong with not knowing what you want to do! Thank you for sharing you story. Love you, Jess 💕

      Sooo , basically i gratuated a year ago from high school but i failed my national exams cuz of anxiety and to much social pressure. But last minute i found the major i rreally want to go with all my heart. Now i am giving a second try at the national so i can go to this major. But the truth is i love thw fact that you are a drop out because this is so out of my comfort zone. I dont know what should i do with a university in my future ... I respect your courage !!!!

    • @dgnyheiardottir1477
      @dgnyheiardottir1477 6 років тому +2

      yess, lying to my parents was one of the worst thing I ever did to them or myself (mostly myself really). It made me so much sadder than if I had just told them the bad truth (same story as jess basically)! I also wasted so much time away from them because I just couldn't be in the same place as them or be truly relaxed and happy around them knowing I was lying to them and how dissapointed they would be the more the time passed; I couldn't enjoy the present nor think about the future (or the past really). It was like a limbo >.< Such an unnecessary issue in life!!!!!!
      And I'm still lost on what I want to do or what I'm good at, but I read the other day (from a specialist on 'lost young adults' lol) to think about something you never stopped doing your entire life.. and I guess that's just doing manual things in my case. I love crafting, pottering, sewing etc... it never ever bores me, and I have so much patience.. so maybe I should think about something like this (maybe even idk, work in the film industry somehow since I love movies so so so so much and my favorite thing is watching the behind of scenes of 'visual effects' on movies like how they made the 'monsters', the dresses, the masks etc, etc - though I have no idea how to even start on).
      One thing is for sure, like that quote Allan Watts (that I just took from Gab's AMAZING 'how I became so successful' video): *'forget the money. Because if you say that getting the money is the most important thing, you will spend your life completely wasting your time. You will be doing things you don’t like doing in order to go on living, that is to go on doing things you don't like doing; wich is _STUPID_'*
      soooo long, sorry!

    Jess, you are a beautiful, amazing, strong, independent woman and you are just so inspiring to me. I aspire to grow up and have a heart like you, and I just wanted to let you know that you have helped me (a 12 year old girl) overcome a lot of things, and I just love you so so much. I know that you probably get a lot of comments like this but I want you to know that this comment is not written for the purpose of getting noticed by you, it is so that you can read it when you are feeling down, and it will help you realize that there are fans out there whos only goal is not to have you reply to them, but they just love you for who you are, and never want you to change for any haters. I am speaking for all of those people when I write this: We love you Jess, and don't ever forget that!!😘

    Jess you can still finish the graphic design degree, you are super young and can joggle it all. Especially because eventually with time you could feel as you neglected your ambition and personal growth. Both Gabe and you could create that much space for personal ambition and growth so that you don´t resent yourselves one day.

    • @JessConte
      @JessConte  6 років тому +68

      You definitely can’t say we can juggle it all if you don’t know our work loads & schedules 😅 we do so much behind the scenes, we literally have several full time jobs that we have to do all at once. We currently have 0 time to go back and complete a degree. We have accomplished so much without a degree, never do we feel like we neglected our ambition or personal growth. We actually continue to grow personally & our ambition only grows stronger because of the career we’re in. Thank you for the advice, but I have to disagree!

    • @tanjaj.grabovac2961
      @tanjaj.grabovac2961 6 років тому +19

      I apologize if my advice seemed pushy and disrespectful, written word has some limitations. I never assumed you guys are not busy enough or anything like that. My comment actually comes from the place of me being also someone´s wife and feeling my best when I manage to find a balance between mutual and personal ambitions, which is always a challenge. I could not agree more with you - degree is not the only way and it obvious you guys are successful admirable young people with or without degrees. However, I do come from the part of the world where having a degree was only possibility of reaching a certain standard. Plus, we live in the world of uncertainty and it´s always good to have couple of options. All in all, I think you are very rare, smart and beautiful young girl, which is why I reached out in the first place, I was moved by honesty and felt some protective vibes I would have towards younger sister. Wish you and Gabe all the best!!

    • @andreaclarke1397
      @andreaclarke1397 6 років тому +23

      Tanja J.G. I didn't find your comment to be rude or anything, I actually found it in a way that you were only trying to give a word of advice because UA-cam can one day shut down just as how Vine did. Maybe Jess took it in a bad way because in her reply she "twisted" something that you said. But all in all, you were only trying to give advice so that in the future they don't look back and say "Aw man, I should have followed my dream"...

    • @user-xm6cl4jz5o
      @user-xm6cl4jz5o 6 років тому +8

      You're right, UA-cam probably won't last forever, so I think it's nice for her to focus on it right now, and make the most out of it while it lasts (because she is very successful right now).
      I feel like, a degree, you can get at any age. Universities will always exist. UA-cam however, won't.
      So maybe if it shuts down, she can then focus on other unfinished business, like a degree, if she wants to work in graphic design.

    • @juliaz9843
      @juliaz9843 3 роки тому

      Also i personally see that jess has been experimenting with different typography and other stylistic elements in her UA-cam videos soo that’s another way to get into graphic design even though it’s less than education based/traditional/formal

    My college experience was like yours; boring no friends no college parties not moving out. I didn’t drop out but I finished. I’d suggest people to choose wisely with school. This day and age you can wait and truly experience life, work and passions before committing to a degree, it would be all worthwhile the time when you finally attend.

    Jess we literally have so much in common!! I have always loved kids and I’ve been babysitting since I was in middle school, so I always said I’d be a teacher but I’m my heart I wasn’t positive about it. A few years ago I really got into UA-cam but people keep telling me that being a youtuber is unrealistic. I’m at my third year of community college getting a liberal arts degree which is really general and I’m so stuck. I’m scared and I have no idea what I am going to do. I am in love and in a long distance relationship and he is the one thing that I am sure about when it comes to the future❤️ i just hope everything else falls into place for me soon, like it did for you. Love you so much💛

      Mary Rose I am so sorry you are going through this! But I want you to know that you're not alone!! ❤️ Everything will fall into place! 😊❤️ Being a UA-camr is not unrealistic at all! I also want to be a UA-camr! I love makeup! I'm in university studying psychology with a concentration in child and adolescent development, and I love it!!! But what I really want, is to become a UA-camr! 😄 ♥️ I believe in you and that you can do this! You can reach your goals and dreams and become a UA-camr! 🤗 Keep your head up! Please don't give up on your dreams! They will soon become a reality! ❤️

      Mary Rose I forgot to add this: please don't listen to the people who tell you that it's unrealistic to become a UA-camr!! Don't listen to the negative things that are said, focus on the positive and surround yourself with people that love you, support you and understand the path you want to take in life. ❤️ May God bless you always and guide you. And may He help you reach all your goals (including UA-cam) and all your dreams! 🙏🏽 ❤️

    Wow! This is so beautiful and heartwarming - I am studying education (I'm from South Africa) and I'm in my third year this year but for the first two years of my university experience I hated what I studied and just like you, I really love children but this degree isn't my passion. Unfortunately I cannot drop out of university ( for reasons I cannot disclose on the world wide web!) but it's kind of a relief to know that there are people who feel the same way that I did when I first came to university! It's such a scary, daunting feeling especially if you're not doing what you love but I'm grateful for the experience and I know God has a lot more in store for me and for you! Thanks so much Jess for being an inspiration - I don't think you realize it but you're so beautiful and your heart for God inspires so many people! Keep doing what you're doing!

I tried different jobs for 3 years but then I decided to go to university which was the best decision for me. Sometimes you need time as a young adult to make decisions.

    Excellent advice. I changed my major 3 times going through college and I still didn't know what I was supposed to do when I got out. Ask God to help you know what to do. Talk to your parents, don't just pick a college because it sounds good...looking back now I wish that I had chosen a college that had had an excellent curriculum and emphasized Godly morals. There is nothing wrong with not going to college, it may not be for you. Take your time, pray, research, and ask for help. Start early and listen to your heart...especially if you are a Christian. My life worked out and yours will too.

    I can relate so much. I dropped out of college because I didn't know if that was what I wanted to do. I come from family who is involved in business, so at a pretty young age I was expected to follow that same path... also at a very young age my parents saw that I had skill with graphic designing and they put me through classes at the age of 12. As I graduated high school, I enrolled to college for business administration and graphic designing. Which a year and half in, I ended up dropping out because it became to difficult for me to study and work. I didn't get any help from my parents.. so I had many payment to make... which became stressing and overwhelming. When I decided to drop out, I never told anyone but my husband. Kept it from my parents and lied to them as well about my grades and how I was making payments just fine. 😔 til this day they don't know. But I can say I'm happy with the choice I made 1. Because I was able to think what I wanted and 2. Because at 21 I'm a business owner and I can say the path I was taking was right from the beginning but at that time i wasn't sure.
    I'm glad, I'm not the only who has gone through this. All my friends and family members are all either soon to be finish with college or half way.

    Thank you, Jess. This really helped me realize a lot. Everything happens for a reason, and sometimes, what everyone else does is not what we are meant to do. It's really hard when you're musical/artistic (such as myself) and have a LOT of interests and simply don't know which path to take. Your story reminded me so much of myslef. Very comforting. "The steps of the righteous are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in His way." Psalm 37:27. In other words, not only is God sovereign, but He is involved with and delights in every detail of our lives. Everything happens for a reason. Thanks again, Jess! God bless you and Gabe

    I remember watching this at the lowest point in my life. I was two years into college and contemplating dropping out because I didn't see the point and was miserable. I had just gotten my heart broken and was dealing with a stalker on my college campus. My campus security used to follow me to my classes so that they could "watch me" and would also call me every day to "check up" on me. I ended up transferring to a different college at the end of the semester so that I could have a fresh start. It was exactly what I needed and I was able to push through what felt like a stage of life that would never get better. I know this doesn't really relate to this video but this was in my recommended and when I saw it, it really made me look back on how far I've come and how you really can push through anything you set your mind to.
    So if anyone out there is watching this video like I was and contemplating dropping out, I recommend pushing through. Of course if you drop out it isn't the end of the world and you can always go back but I promise it will go by faster than you think and you'll be thankful you pushed through!! ❤️
