The book series by Dean Koontz is very well worth reading, it’s a surprisingly wholesome series. Also, Fear Nothing and Seize the Night are the first parts of a short series that actually kind of crossed over. If you love dogs I strongly recommend them
I'm a grown man and I cried at the end of the damn movie ask my wife to watch it with me the following day I watch it again she end up we both end up crying😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yup it’s a shame Koontz is cursed, his books are so good….. but every time they try to make a t.v show or movie it becomes a case study of “what can go wrong, will go wrong.”
A Million Ways was completely underrated. I watched it again on Prime last year but it is worth another watch now. I have not seen Layer Cake in a long time and it is also great.
I had the pleasure of seeing "Nightbreed" in the theater when it was released. What a great movie and great memory! I can't wait to watch it again on UA-cam. Thanks for the video!
I hope you don't mind me posting this. Warner Brothers released a whole bunch of free movies today on UA-cam. “The Wind and the Lion” (1975) starring Sean Connery “Michael Collins” (1996) “Mr. Nice Guy” (1997) starring Jackie Chan “City Heat” (1984) with Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds “The 11th Hour” (2007) “The Adventures of Pluto Nash” (2002) starring Eddie Murphy “Chaos Theory” (2007) starring Ryan Reynolds “Waiting for Guffman” (1996) “American Ninja V” (1993) starring David Bradley “Mutiny on the Bounty” (1962) starring Marlon Brando “Dungeons & Dragons” (2000) “The Bonfire of the Vanities” (1990) starring Tom Hanks “Return of the Living Dead Part II” (1998) “The Accidental Tourist” (1988) “Critters 4” (1992) “Murder in the First” (1995) starring Kevin Bacon and Gary Oldman “The Year of Living Dangerously” (1982) starring Mel Gibson “December Boys” (2007) “Lionheart” (1987) starring Eric Stoltz “Oh, God!” (1977) starring John Denver and George Burns “Crossing Delancey” (1988) “Price of Glory” (2000) with Jimmy Smits “Flight of the Living Dead: Outbreak on a Plane” (2007) “Deal of the Century” (1983) starring Chevy Chase “Deathtrap” (1982) starring Michael Caine and Christopher Reeve “The Mission” (1986) starring Robert De Niro “SubUrbia” (1996) directed by Richard Linklater with Steve Zahn and Giovanni Ribisi “Hot to Trot” (1988) with Bobcat Goldthwait “True Stories” (1986) with David Byrne and John Goodman “The Science of Sleep” (2006) “The Big Tease” (1999) starring Craig Ferguson
'Train to Busan' was my introduction to Korean filmmaking. The BEST zombie movie I've ever seen. 'I Saw The Devil' was even more dark and twisted, and is another Korean horror flick I highly recommend. (I know you've reviewed it before and can't add it to every list. 😉) But for those horror fans who haven't seen either of these films - seek them out.
3:40 For a split second I thought you were recommending the original "Paprika" by Tinto Brass. It's one of the most visually beautiful movies ever made, because of its lead actress. But... it's definitely not UA-cam material!
Thank you! I've been trying to find both Layer Cake and In The Mouth of Madness. Also, I think you undersold Nightbreed. It's an amazing movie with incredible visuals.
Thanks Darren, "Odd Thomas" was really better than I thought it was going to be. Train to Busan was freaking fantastic and "In the Mouth of Madness" was crazy. Of course I seen most all these movies when they came out years ago. Always appreciate all your suggestions
Some would say if your first anime movie is Paprika, it's starting at the top. Satoshi Kon was a brilliant director who left us too soon. Prime Video has Tokyo Godfathers and Millenium Actress which are both top-notch.
"Hundreds of Beavers" is great. I threw it on on a whim one night and was thoroughly entertained. Will be checking out "Layer Cake" and "Paprika", for sure.
I agree that Train to Busan was one of best zombie movies ever. I did not know about the sequel. I will have to try it. Did you see the remake of Carrie with Chloe Grace Mortez? It was actually pretty good.
Pity about Train to Busan but it is worth hunting down where ever you can find it and it does come and go from UA-cam. I recommended it to my nephew who was going to South Korea to work and already him and his friends were well aware of it. It's a classic over the top action flick the way that the best of the Die Hard films are. And with Zombies!
There's another great film that shares its name with one on your list. Hollow Point (1996) is a banger among the amazing straight to cable flicks from HBO's World Premiere line of movies from Friday nights in the 1990s. Thomas Ian Griffith and Tia Carrera play a pair of cops (she's actually FBI) trying to bring down John Lithgow's big bad. Donald Sutherland is pitch perfect as an OTT hitman who teams with the good guys to bring down the kingpin. A great ride of a movie. Train To Buson ruined me on English dubs. Though the subtitles are hard to read but worth it.
@@DarrenVanDamHow this movie has eluded me for the past 30 years is mind boggling. It's a true gem, the amount of different kinds of monsters in Midian is absolutely insane and I was not expecting the story to be as epic as it was. Would have loved to have seen it 20+ years ago. Great suggestion!
Thank you for the recommendation of "Hollow Point". Just finished working it on UA-cam, and I'll really enjoyed it. It's just the kind of movie I like, a small-budget movie that packs a real punch. The latest movie by Gonzalo López-Gallego, the director of "Hollow Point", is called "American Star." It came out January of last year, and stars Ian McShane. Have you seen it? Do you know if it's available on Amazon Prime, or any other of the streaming services?

Yeah, the ad breaks and the subtitle nonsense make it hard for me to enjoy full movies on UA-cam, but if you don’t want to pay (another) subscription occasionally there are some good ones there.
Your # 1 choice is one of my favorite films from the great John Carpenter. He's a legendary director, the setup to the film is amazing, and the rest of the ride is fun. I like your descriptions but I will take exception with only one of them - "In the Mouth of Madness" is a fictional character discovering that 'he' is a fictional character - hence - the madness 😱
In the mouth of madness is one of my all time favorites. Didn't know it was based on a Stephen King book? It very much leant on H. P. Lovecraft though but would be curious if someone could tell me which king book? Cheers!

Since Train to Busan got removed, might I recommend the movie Harrison Bergeron?
Weird, disturbing, and currently free.
All these movies are fee on UA-cam but he lists the alternative sites so people that have those services they don’t have to watch adds
"Odd Thomas" was absolutely amazing. I actually sobbed and had to catch my breath at the ending.

Odd Thomas was one of those movies I stumbled onto while flipping channels. Absolutely brilliant.

@@thecityman1910 They're on the official Warner Brothers channel. They already had some free movies, but those were added yesterday.
Hey, thanks for this list!
Good list! I haven't seen "Paprika" yet.
What an excellent selection, with the links for us to watch. Awesome!
'Train to Busan' was my introduction to Korean filmmaking. The BEST zombie movie I've ever seen. Korean zombies are next level... they elevate the whole premise of undead attackers.
Thank you Darren for taking the time to explain how to find these movies on UA-cam. I thought it was just me!
Dude, thank you so much for this! I hope your channel continues to thrive and grow.
Great video as ever. Love you to do a show on your favourite movies of 2024 👍🏽
FYI the original Nosferatu circa 1923 is now available on UA-cam, Love your informative videos keep them coming.
I didn't know that John Travolta was in the original Carrie. You learn something new every day!
3:40 For a split second I thought you were recommending the original "Paprika" by Tinto Brass. It's one of the most visually beautiful movies ever made, because of its lead actress. But... it's definitely not UA-cam material!
I watched Train to Busan when you recommended it a few years ago. SO GOOD!
Train To Busan is on TUBI TV and it is English Dubbed too.
how did you post that link? (where the title is a link)
In the Mouth of Madness and Odd Thomas are true gems here! Highly Recommended!
Thank you! I've been trying to find both Layer Cake and In The Mouth of Madness. Also, I think you undersold Nightbreed. It's an amazing movie with incredible visuals.

They have added Brazil, First Man. And Tubi has added Pollock.
I remember watching Layer Cake back in the day, good movie should revisit it as its been so long
It’s definitely re-watchable
I agree that Train to Busan was one of best zombie movies ever. I did not know about the sequel. I will have to try it. Did you see the remake of Carrie with Chloe Grace Mortez? It was actually pretty good.
Love Dracula Dead and loving it.
I love Odd Thomas so much, can't believe what happened to it at the time. Completely shafted
Layer Cake is my second all-time favorite movie. It's a absolute fucking gem
The Intouchables is on there - the greatest film of the last 15 years or so imo
Bless you for the Mr. Show "Pallies" reference hahah
Layer Cake is one of the best Gangster Flicks I know... and it has nothing to do with Sienna Miller :D

Odd Thomas is a banger! R.I.P Anton Yelchin... Gonna watch In The Mouth of Madness - haven't seen it since it was in theatres. Thanks, Darren!
“Dracula Dead And Loving It”, is such a fun watch.
Looks like 8 Million Ways To Die is on UA-cam too. Great dialog cowritten by Oliver Stone. Maybe I'll read Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz.

the Bob Dylan film "Masked and Anonymous" is also on LeTubes.
such a quotable movie, but most dislike it.
100% agree with Train to Busan. Highly recommend watching it!!

Paprika got some crazy visuals. It really opened my mind to other genres of anime when I only knew of anime through what was on AdultSwim.
Man, I love Nightbreed. Stil have a mad crush on Shuna Sassi. 🔥 Time to revisit the director's cut.
In the Mouth of Madness is still one of my favorite classics. I remember going to the theatre to see it on release. Great pick.
