Interesting property and the views are nice. I think it's great that Antonello is with you, showing his dedication to the region and not just SDT. I look forward to more of your videos from Maiera. Grazie, Chris!
Thank you John! Antonello is wonderful and so knowledgable! We love him. We will head back the week and film more. Pete filmed a bunch of drone footage that we are editing now. Maiera deserves attention.
I love watching your channel, I feel like on vacation looking at those wonderful views. I am still going to try to make it to Italy, but right now, I can't since I am a full time caregiver for my 95 year old dad.
I'm doing the same for my mom who has Alz. She's half Italian but has no interest in seeing the country, go figure. Bless you for being there for him. You'll get to Italy soon! And me too.
@@DashingPartyCrasher I wish my dad can travel but his health does not allow him to travel since we have a nurse visit every week, it's been almost two years, 1st week of April will be two years, maybe my sister will watch him for me to go to Italy on vacation this year in 2023, but I have to wait and see if I can afford it :) I just remodeled the shower /tub area, removed it all to have a flat tile shower so he can walk it without stepping over anything so I can get him to sit in his chair to shower. I know too much information :) lol
Chris, what a beautiful home! I love the properties in the old towns and the storage centers. However, I learned something about myself a couple of weeks ago regarding what I would want in a property whether in Italy or in Spain. I stayed in the old town, city center in Granada, and in Toledo, and truly the steep. small roads and many steps are not something that I would want to do every day as I get older. It was definitely a great daily workout however, it could account for why these centro históricos are abandoned due to the population, being older, and not being able to do all of the stairs. On another note, it could be something to look at for investment property to rent out, yearly for seven younger folks, but the towns would have to be revived with things to bring in the younger crowd.
Hi Virginia! You bring up a completely legit concern. As we get older, the stairs become more of an issue. That said you can still find homes in the Centro Storico that are not up or down tons of stairs. It is important to take you time in choosing your property and I am so glad you tried some out before making a purchase.
Simply beautiful and made so much more real because of your special gift of sharing what you see with others.Thank you for your enthusiasm and informative videos Chris .Cannot wait for May to finally return after 4 long years.Blessings to you and yours 🙏❤️🇦🇺
Hello! There are services close by. In the historic center there is a bar post office, pharmacy and a short walk below the village there is a butcher shop and store. You are also very close to the coast and down there you can find anything you are looking for.
This is a beautiful town! I have had some things on my mind and wondered if I might bend your ear for a moment. They say that if you have questions chances are that others have the same questions. A lot of planning, preparations, and thinking go into making the choice to move abroad. I am concerned about the future. What I mean is that I wonder what the future will be like in the U.S., in Italy, and in the E.U. in general. Maybe this would be a good topic to discuss a little more in-depth. You have access to so many wonderful and knowledgeable people in Italy. It would be interesting to get their thoughts on what life in Italy will be like in 10 years, 20 years, and beyond. I know that no one has a crystal ball but opinions can be quite helpful. Just a thought.
Because we can't predict future geopolitical events, we have diversified our property purchases geographically. We're encouraged that supply chain issues and general inflation seem to be better contained here in Southern Italy than in California.
Hi Suzanne, We will keep this as a subject as we go along. We do see that the costs here remain low and notice very little impact. Calabria has been so off the grid that it is easier to buy local so I think are insulated to a good degree. Hope to see you at some point!
Chris how do you find these properties? Is there a particular realtor you use to find them? Thanx Gina headed to Calabria on Dec 8 for 38 days. Looking to narrow down an area.
Hi Gina, WE have a system set up where we refer to our agency associates in an area but first we send you a checklist getting all the data about what you are looking for, your budget etc so we can send you to the one or ones who are best suited to help you. Can you write me at info@supersavvytravelers.com? We can get you started.
Antonello will be involved in some of these properties. You’ll really have to visit the different towns here in the area to see where you feel most comfortable in. IT is tough to state as each person's level of activity is different. Maiera is not super full of stairs.
Hi Lulu, We will have to check the local regulations In our village you can make them 20% bigger and I assume you could however I would have to double check as Maiera may have different rules in the historic center.
I think for around 15 k you could set it up but it really needs an architect or geometra to give you a definitive figure. I am not qualified to give anything other than opinion on the subject
Hi! The community below is Santa Maria del Cedro although Maiera has a section that goes along the coast. From North to South you have Scalea, Santa Maria Del Cedro, Maiera then Cirella and Diamante then Belvedere Marittimo.
OMGOSH... This property, village and views makes me seriously start thinking of buying something... !!!!
This is an amazingly pretty village! We will be doing more videos there to show daily life.

Will same architect do these towns? We’re looking l walking type village l vibrancy does this work there as well or should we focus on Scalia?

Love this one! How far is this little village from the sea?
Hi Anamaria! It is about a 10 minute to the sea from Maiera.
Did we find out approx renovation costs?
