do not think buying a Italian house without a lawyer in your language, many cheap Italian homes have outstanding debt, bad construction and wet fungus in the floor, ceiling and walls, property tax is going higher and keep in mind Italy was in high deficit since 2008, still Italy is an EU country with very high deficit which the government will pull up from funds of investors on taxes, and foreign investment
@blackpinkunniexl Thank you for comment. It is definitely a good idea to check the property before purchasing with the architect and get a local lawyer for the purchase process.
How easy is it to get residency in italy ? What Financial requirements do you need to apply ? Is it similar to greece, golden visa, financially independent etc
@joobie1000 There is Elective Residency Visa (ERV) available for retirees. To qualify you need to have a passive income of 31,000 euros (single) or 38,000 euros (for a couple), which can be a pension or an investment.
@ExpatTheExplorer wow that's even more than greece, so that's out of the question for me I'm afraid ! I could buy a property up to say £200,000 but no way have we got €38,000 a year between us in pensions
@@joobie1000 Yes, that is around €500 more then in Greece. You can get a visa in Greece if you invest €250,000 in a property. Italy unfortunately doesn't have this option. The reason some of these places are cheap is because most of the younger population has moved to larger cities to focus on a career. Italy has an aging population and they aren’t reproducing like they used to. Thats why many of these smaller cities are dying, and cheaper to live. The hope is for investments to hit and revive these communities.

@@marysolch6029 great choice! I have made some videos about Tuscany in last few weeks , feel free to check them out.
Is this an AI narrator? Because I think a real person would at least bother to see how these Italian names are pronounced. 🧐
Believe me I try hard to pronounce it correctly but sometimes it’s just impossible. 😎
I think so because of the odd pauses mid sentences as well
@@ExpatTheExplorerFind an ltalian person, like in a pizzeria, and ask them to pronounce the names for you.
You’re watching it via AI and they’re watching you to

Seems like a giant money pit. They are cheap for a reason.
What a scary choice of A.I. voice. Makes the entire video quite soulless...
Thanks for your comment.
I love Italy, but unfortunately it's a dump full of rubbish.
@@Lilou34650 nooooo no no no it’s not, it’s beautiful 😻. Which place have you been to that left such a bad impression on you?
@@ExpatTheExplorer In Calabria there is rubbish everywhere and if you don't see it, you're blind!
@@Lilou34650 I am not blind I just never been to Calabria so take it easy.
@@ExpatTheExplorer All is well, I take it easy, but Sardinia is also dirty!
It is known worldwide that Italy has a massive garbage problem!
