Thanks Matt for all the info your sharing. I am currently tuning my 05 Yukon with a rebuilt 5.3 flat top pistons, truck norris, tsp ported heads, all the other stuff that goes with it. Truck is making great power and getting the fueling just about perfect but man the in gear idle is killing me. Hahaha... You make this stuff look super easy with all your years of experience. Thanks again man, your fairly local to me, I am close to Springfield TN. Keep'em coming I am always learning...
I have several videos that go over Short Term Idle Trims. That’s what you need to focus on first to clear up your in gear issue.

Good morning Matt great video. I asked a question on previous video, but you may not be checking those notifications since it was a video posted a few weeks ago.
At SEMO, one of the HP engineers told me that the cylinder volume for the GEN five motors isn’t accurate, because it only counts for bore and stroke and not the cc of the cylinder head or the piston. GEN five motors being direct injected. This value is incorrect according to them. What do you think? Also, I can’t get my throttle blade to open more than 39.4% any idea on why? L86 with a E92 controller.
I will trust that GM engineers knew what they are doing when they set cylinder volume on all DI engines.
As for throttle blade angle… I have no idea. It literally could be thousands of things cause that. It isn’t normal though.

How do you tune the vve table for various cam angle positions?
Just depends on how much swing the VVT has. With a 4° limiter, it’s just as simple as running the cam at 0° and then once that table is tuned, you can copy that table to the 7.5° table and then have lock the cam at 4° and tune that difference into the 7.5° table.
Or, if you know your VVT angles and you don’t plan on changing them, technically you can just tune the 0° table only, with VVT set to whatever you are going to run, and tune the table like normal.
The first way is technically right but the 2nd way works just fine. 4° doesn’t change the VVE table much.
Any swings more than that, then you have to bracket the cams and tune each table individually for it to be right.
Where are you located I believe my car needs a retune badly the driveability is 💩
