Didn't realize Johnny Carson gave him such a big break. More I learn about Carson, the more I appreciate him.
Jimmie Walker gave him a bigger break
It was always great to hear Johnny’s laugh during the comedy routines.
He turned out to be an entertainment business giant.
Yes, in August 2022 he acquired the Black News Channel.
He turned out to be very litigious. His "entertainment" business is trash, hence why nobody wants to air his garbage. But then Byron files a lawsuit calling the broadcaster racist and instead of going to court for decades they settle with this scumbag.
Genius. Entrepreneur. Comedian. So many television shows he created.
"Genius" gimme a break, this dude made his fortune off claiming racism whenever someone doesn't wanna broadcast his shitty "shows". Blows my mind this dipshit is a billionaire from lawsuits
All shitty
The king of low budget tv shows that air at 4:30 in the morning.
Apparently there's lots of $$ in that sort of thing.
Factz
After Fish TV?
Abdullah Steinberg buys AfroSheen wholesale killed me! 😂😂😂
Reminds me of a young Byron Allen.
Is this a Norm MacDonald reference?
Byron Allen's first time on network TV...now, he may own his own network. Stay tuned.
Norm Macdonald cites Byron Allen as his comic hero.
Byron couldn't have been more leashed here
Now Byron, I understand you're growing older.
Byron says that every comic from his generation has 2 birthdays...the day they were born, and the day they first appeared with Johnny.
That's an excellent way to say it. I can't count the interviews I've seen in which that very sentiment is expressed but not put the clever way you phrased it.
Make that three birthdays: the day he became a BILLIONAIRE!!
Today 1/31/24 Byron made an offer to buy Paramount for $14 billion. What an amazing success story. Don’t ever let someone tell you that you can’t do something.
Shows that it pays to do your homework.
I miss you Johnny 🖤
Mr. Carson had a wonderful way of building a performer up and being supportive of them before their grand entrance. Byron Allen is terrific. What a devastingly impressive first appearance on National BrocadastTelevision. Thanks for sharing.
Byron has become quite the corporate r a c i s t, accumulating "wealth" through frivoulous "equity-based" lawsuits. Read about the one with Comacast and recently, McDonalds.@Modok.Saint424
I am so much enjoying this special treat of Johnny's shows every night in October. Thank you so much!!! A rare treet in this month of October!!!
Hit and miss, some of it is still holds up. But man, 18 on national tv? Wow.
Byron has come a MIGHTY long way...he is at the TOP of the game now!! #God'sgrace 👏☝️
The weed and peyote jokes were hilarious 😂 lol
It was very important for any comic that wanted to make it big to go on the Tonight Show. Once Johnny gave you the ok after their appearance, you were on your way to stardom.
Proof timing is everything... ☺️👍🏻
Who didn’t love “real people” back in the early 80s? Sarah Purcell was my girl ❤❤❤
Unleashed!!
I’m constantly amazed by how “old” these guys looked back in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
Bryon at 18 would have easily passed for 30 - 35 if not older. I’m pushing 40 and I look younger than Bryon did here in this old clip.
At 3:43 you hear Johnny laughing loud at Byron's beverly hills high joke about the lawyers.
Love it ☺️!!
This was hands down the most LEASHED set I’ve ever seen. And at such a young age!
Leashed?
@@euphoricmonk hahaha
@@euphoricmonk He had a show called Comics Unleashed.
@@RockyRMR Oh yeah that's right, forgot hahah
As a norm fan too I was shocked to learn this goof was trying to buy an NFL team. So I Google ol Byron n learned he's made a career off of suing every major broadcaster for being racist. If they wouldn't air a "comics unleashed" he'd sue n call em racist. Instead of going to court for decades these people settle with him n cut him checks. Literally how he's made billions, through frivolous lawsuits
He is very good and funny. Talented.
Norm MacDonald: "Couldnt me more leashed."
can't get away with those jokes nowadays. but that sure was funny today as much as it was back then imho.
They seem fine to me. What did you think wouldn't fly today'
@@mexicanspec the indian joke is likely the biggest one. cause the woke culture is making all kinds of sports teams change mascots and names all over the place. but like i said i thought the whole thing was very funny.
@@scottanddebranelson8419 I don't think anybody would say anything. it wasn't offensive in any way. it would be funny to see somebody do it and see what happens.
@@mexicanspec of course they would say something. as i said, the woke left are offended by names of teams that are related to indians. like the redskins and so on. and have succeeded in having all sorts of mascots and so forth removed. it's been goin on for a number of years now. if someone did that today the woke left would cancel them. you can't have homosexual jokes if you are straight, you can't black jokes if you are white (that's been "racist" for decades now) you can't make jokes about anything or anyone they deem sacrosanct. there have been comedians "cancelled" because of it. i mean their shows have been literally cancelled because of the jokes they told.
Real people was an awesome show, that’s what I know him best for. I actually won a real people T-shirt for sending in a typo that my local newspaper made, “Monday night football” came out “Monday night foodball.”
Byron did well. Kid is poised.
OMG Tonight's Bryon Allen Show, way funny.
Brilliant! His humor reminds me of my younger brother, who was (in the 1970's) asked on a High School history test to name the first African American to be invited to dine at the White House with the President and his family. Unable to recall the details (Booker T. Washington, invited in 1901 by Teddy Roosevelt) but being a fan of the famous Sammy Davis Jr., my brother wrote ... Sammy Davis Sr. In reviewing the questions with the class the next day, the teacher noted with a smile that a few people found this a difficult question, but that "any one who wrote Sammy Davis Sr. DESERVES to lose five points!" The laughter was worth it.
I remember Byron well, who doesn't if you grew up in the 70s?
"Real People!"
@@Rob_Kates Yes!
Who would of thought this guy would make it big. Long shot
This is epic for B. A🔥🔥🔥 18 years old 😮
love johnie carson non better now i seen this show i loved byron ❤❤❤❤❤❤
5:06 I love the bumper music. Doc and the NBC Orchestra were both classy and brassy. LOL.
I'll always remember Byron Allen from "Real People".
Byron has some real talent. Nice to see Burt and the beautiful Connie Stevens on the couch.
He is now worth 800 million
Best damn game show created by BYRON.... "FUNNY YOU SHOULD ASK" and it's so Politically Incorrect 😝🤔👍🏻👊
If he only knew the dynasty he would captain back then!
Byron on the WTF Marc Maron podcast talks in detail about this appearance. Right before Byron came out and during a commercial, Johnny went behind the curtains and told a young Byron that he was going to be great. This is something Johnny never did for anybody. Johnny was Byron's hero.
I was so surprised to find out how powerful Byron Allen was in the Comedy Industry
Byron learned early on nobody wants to be labeled racist. Hence why he's sued for racism his entire career. This dude is a scumbag, couldn't hack it with his "comedy" so he went around calling every broadcaster racist and suing left and right.
The guy is a billionaire now and a media mogul
Wow…
$800 million later, Byron’s doing alright.
Where is he now he was funny!!✌️🇺🇲
One of the most successful media moguls today.
He owns The Weather Channel now, GRIO, and Black News Channel. He is a billionaire now. AMAZING!
@@queenofsheba7145 thanks that's awesome!!✌️🇺🇲
@@whayes8084 thanks for sharing!!✌️🇺🇲
@@duanelawrence78 You're welcome 😊
So he was 17 looking like he was in his 40s, crazy???
ikr
I also went to a rich high school in LA. We had tennis classes. I bet Fairfax High didn't teach tennis.

Funny
and now he's a media mogul billionaire ✊🏽
Sorry, but Byron was 18+26 days.
Alan Bursky was 18+25 days. Alan Bursky, yes, by one day, holds the record.
Alan's birthdate is March 15, 1955. His first appearance was on April 11, 1973
Byron's birthdate is April 22,1961. His first appearance was May 17, 1979.
Byron always looked old. He still looks just like that.
This performance was just _odd._ Timing was totally off; it's like he was up there in his own world doing a well-rehearsed shtick, not connecting with or responding to the audience _at all._
Na not really! It you that has the problem. STFU.
Wow he has hair...
Would have been great to be a "comedian" in the 70s and 80s. Before all the material was taken, you could say anything. And as long as you were on stage with a smile you'd get a laugh.
1:52 , 4:02 : Gotta wonder if those lines could be used today.
Couldn’t be more leashed
I knew the first comment would have to do with Norm. May he live on forever.
🤣
It would be a shame if Andy Dick did Byron Allen’s act. Let’s hope that never happens.
From there to multi billionaire
Thought Freddie Prinze was 18 as well
He was 19. My mistake
Hey he was funny !! Witty with a spoof on reality!!!
The sodium nitrate joke hits too close to home...:/
Who'd thunk this guy would one day become a BILLIONAIRE and not from stand up comedy either, and black people think they are the inferior race
So apparently he was always corny af.
Yeah he's corny
Wasn't funny back then and still not funny after buying and shutting down our local weather station just because he could !!!
Thank you. We need this information out there now
He is worth 4 billion.
All from claiming racism too. He definitely found quite the hustle
His net worth is about $800 million not $4 Billion but when you have that much money it really doesn't matter.
Not bad at all
So funny I forgot to laugh.
🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅
A couple of years later, he was a lot funnier. But not bad for an 18 -year-old!
He looks 40
What's with that utterly deranged ad?
It wasn't very funny but no other comic was the youngest stand up comedian on Carson.. nobody! I get so tired of these comedians that mention getting there start in Carson.. this is the start here! Nobody was ever this young!
He sucks as a comedian thats for sure. Guess hes got a great mind for business.
That was dry. Yikes.
So he grew making fun of Black people, but now they canceling all the Black people if they make fun of any of the race. Now I understand why no one likes him. He was always for himself and played it very well.
was he ever seen again? never heard of him?
He owns The Weather Channel, along with dozens of other cable channels and network affiliate TV stations. I'm not joking. Byron Allen is doing pretty well for himself today.
...seriously?
You must be kidding!!!
@@BobbyLCollins googled his name. His media company purchased it in 2018
He purchased in August 2022 the Black News Channel.
He's not funny at all.. nice guy but, just no. Not my thing...
Better be careful he'll sue you and call ya racist for some $$
*Fun Fact: Byron Allen purchased The Weather Channel in 2018 for $300 million.*
Right, he did not become a comedy superstar, but his media empire has made him very wealthy.
Wow about that! having the right people around you can make a whole world of difference.
In August 2022, he acquired the Black News Channel.
Damn near a billionaire
Bought a 100 million dollar house YESTERDAY!
No wonder he never blew up. Not much to work with. Diversity hires never work out. ✅💯
Never blew up, became a billionaire in the industry though
He's almost a billionaire today. I would say it worked out for him far more then it did for bigots like you.
