- Have you wondered why Big Bazaar failed? Owned by Kishore Biyani and his Future Retail, #BigBazaar used to be one of the most successful retail chains in India. #KishoreBiyani himself is hailed as the father of modern Indian Retail. However, the value of a single share of Big Bazaar is practically zero today. What went wrong with Big Bazaar?
#Amazon, #Reliance, and Future Retail are currently embroiled in a legal battle for the ownership of these Big Bazaar stores on one hand. But on the other hand, Mukesh #Ambani has secretly taken control of the majority of these stores in a move that left the entire industry stunned. How did he manage to do this?
In this video, we unravel the intriguing story of how a business as great as Big Bazaar was brought to its knees, how Reliance used the back door, and how Radhakrishna Damani has managed to emerge as the retail king of India!
Please share this video with one person who you know will find value in this.

When you owe so much Money , it's the Lender 's problem and not the Borrowers........
Jio mart is the biggest flop, the reason being Reliance is not a trustworthy brand, Amazon is.
Biyani is a Legend in many ways.
He pioneered Modern India way back in 2000, with Pantaloons, when I visited their store in Calcutta.
I was working in a mall in Lucknow in 2006, and I personally saw the neverending ques at Big Bazaar and the army of of employees they employed in their stores.
Everything has been Copy Paste since then by all other Brands that followed.
I agree that his failure should not eclipse the fact that he was able to create the first modern retail chain of India!
Main problem of Big Bazar was, he used to keep only one Companies products, specially the spices and nuts. You must keep the customer to choose from different suppliers and also keeping more profit margin. Many things were not available always, even the spices. Even Reliance does the same. They always blame the supplier. Products also of low quality. Mostly in Sindhi and Marwadi supermarkets sell the products of low quality. Look at Lulu Hypermarkets. They sell the products of highest quality with low profit margin, and they plenty of choices in the same product. That's why no one can beat them. Slowly slowly Lulu will take over all over Indian market and should be. They know the supermarket buisness.
@@manasagarwal1241 😆 just copied from elsewhere...!
He himself copied from Saravana Stores in Chennai!!!
@@monishasekar4716 Very true, but north guys wouldn't know or even take effort to know which is applicable in everything. There many such businesses from which he copied so definitely not India's first
It was a well planned default scam. Amazon asked to audit future retail loan books but future retail denied and signed the deal with reliance. So Amazon went to court to take back their investment, some insiders say Biyani took money under the table from reliance and forced future retail to fail rather than selling it to reliance competitior Amazon.
If future retail is under liquidation how can Biyani decide who should he sell to? The banks will take the best possible deal
@@mariachi9093 most ironic thing is banks voted against reliance and forced it for liquidation, reliance took it's all contracts and important asset under table for throw away price. Dig more this was a well planned and orchestrated scam. The most important thing banks didn't want was a 27000cr deal going through, they voted against the deal and got their individual share of benefits. The public lost money, investors lost money, Amazon learned lessons, Biyani made 🤑. Just do some research, I've lost my investment in future retail and many did. These thugs looted without any mercy. In these elections I voted and campaigned against the BJP. BJP is more dangerous than Congress.
@@mariachi9093 that's the point he never sold he just dumped the company so that reliance can rise 😂😂😂
I always wondered why big Bazar was gone!! they were there for so many years n doing so well.. their quality n offers were too good!!!!! I miss Bigl Bazar ....😢
Wrong perception, there was larger game behind the scenes & how explain in this case
So basically reliance sabotaged another business to buy it.
Reliance can leverage the power of the State against its competition. So things like laws, etc, ..... you get my point.
Don't worry no matter how rich u become, u still have to go to the USA embassy for a visa
@mrmrr9329 I'm pretty sure that they have investment PRs for many countries. But yeah, many, many, shall we say, "Things" have been done for them to reach where they are now.
No, it's Big Baazar and Biyani's fault ...due their bad business strategy Big Baazar got destroyed . First they signed a shady deal with Amazon then tried to sell Big Bazzar to Ambani without Amazon's consent...
It doesn't count if the other business is Amazon. Since they are complete bastards
Stop buying from Reliance.
Ambani is legally smart but with very cunning mind
They have clever people and the most "powerful " factor in their pockets.
They do what's best for business, even I'dbdo the same
Only thing is how far will you go? Unethical business practices are one thing, but much worse is possible.
Dhandha aisa hi hota hai
That is what india wants. Isnt it. A crook above 1.4 billion crooks.
thats why i avoid shopping at any amabani business as much a possible.
Shopper's Stop has an older history than Pantaloons.

Long story short Ambani can do whatever they want in India. Court and law means nothing for them in this pathetic country.
Ambani haven't, we ourself did. Now i strictly use bsnl sim, so that it wont get dissolved
How KB as he is nicknamed," Rajah of Indian Retail" failed and annihilated for a trivial blunder of his own theory.
He Kishor Biyani had a written agreement with Amazon while selling 49% stake in future coupons that he will have to offer sale proposal to Amazon first in the future if it is required. KB can sell to other entity if he, Amazon, refuses to buy.
How he agreed to such a clause ?
If he knew the clause very well, he could have approached the Amazon to sell off at an exorbitant value which Amazon may have refused. After that he could have dealt with Reliance.
Two take away :
1.Agreement with Amazon was miscalculated and tboughtless of its consequences.
2.Approaching the Reliance to sell the company despite the agreement with Amazon was the final death nail.
Miscalculation, overconfidence and debt negligence can turn future to past.
Great case study.

Big Bazaar was never that good.. It boomed because it was an early entrant.
That is called first mover advantage or getting in at the ground floor. Those who can time it right, generally reap the rewards.
Anyway Big Bazaar sells garbage stuff
@@ArunBabuThomas First mover always have advantages in market

No one talk about is Big Bazar (BB) they had a scheme you pay 10,000 Rs and get 12500 Rs products. But when it got closed This happened Relience first said we will continue with it. But then kept delaying saying the decision is pending how we will continue it. Then one day they said we cannot continue as it is not the same thing. And alot of people lost their money.
How people loose money
Is there any way we can get our money back ?

Hello Shankar,
great video. I stumbled on this video by mistake, which does not make me regret my 15 minutes. just small recommendations and suggestions:
1. Back your analysis with data sources and properly mapped and scaled charts and numbers. A vague chart graphic will get you nowhere in getting a proper repeatable audience
2. Bring your microphone a little down, so that the audience can actually look at your complete face while you are speaking. Doesn't really add any informative value, but it plays a major role in forming connections with your audience
3. (You might want to ignore this depending on your format) Add clips of Biyani talking about his business model from other sources like his interviews with Kamath and Raj podcasts as well
Well scripted and a great video. You earned me as your subscriber
Thanks for taking the time to share this feedback, Zaid. I appreciate it and I will work on these. I published this video quite a while ago - please check my latest videos and share feedback as well!

Crystal clear narration. Very well done.
Reliance Bazaar most of them are not able to sell product and customer not coming to them . Reason is just one Big bazaar use to publish discount offer in all newspaper every week . And this attract more customer to Big Bazaar . Same thing Reliance Bazaar should do .

When you talk about the different business models pursued, it would be relevant to note that high initial expenditures are possible when a lot of money is generated by any means. Some politicians own , say, chains of clinics. The source of the money is unclear, but expansion and growth are rapid.
Kishore Biyani has master strategies to develop the retail sector. Reliance an Indian big brother has to support other brothers of India .But big brother is implementing a strategy overtaking .It is always dangerous for any market in the future.

It is very simple. For their business big bazar has to take loan and repay. But, Ambani shall take loan whatever the amount they want and need not pay back. It shall be written off. Therefore, they is no financial crunch.
Because of this game,I lost 25% of my portfolio. India is not good for safe business

Big bazaar defaulted and closed on its own. Reliance simply tried to buy it.
At 9:43 I think the sentence should be corrected. Mr. Biyani borrowed heavily I think not lending heavily...
Very good explained 🌹. I don't known English fluently but i got what u said
In my opinion, the fall of Big Bazar is because of its untrained staff who did not cared of the customers and full of dust of its showroom.
Based on my experience both at Big Bazaar and reliance smart, I can say honestly prices at reliance are more than the kirana shops, more than Amazon, and doesn't come anywhere close to Big bazar, and the erstwhile 'More' in terms of prices and services to the customer. Big Bazaar was a class apart no doubt.

Reliance is waiting for foreigners like Walmart to come and take over part of Relaince smart stores at some point 😮
If jio has not cleverly overtaken bigbazaar, amazon would have taken it. The culprit was Amazon. Future was running out of cash and Amazon who is a share holder obstructed every effort of FEL to raise money strangling FEL to death. Amazon India despite this unethical act used its soft power to avoid blame and instead jio got the blame

Movie The founder matches with the Dmart idea
That's a great movie!
Long story short, मोटा gave गंजा a really good चंपी 😂
How about that
Where there is a beginning the end is inevitable and Mukesh Ambani is no exception
That's a very predatory and monopolistic move by Reliance.
Keep sleeping Indian government !
Ambani did the right thing .
That day is no far when India will be called ambani and adani. It's a disgust for allowing such monopoly in all the sectors. They are swallowing india
In which sector Reliance have monopoly apart from refineries upto an extent? I know you will immediately say Jio. But there is Airtel already with similar subscribers base.
@@KuchNahiBasAiseHistop.defending these corporate czars. They care for no one. Their motto is expanding their empire for their own greed. If you want to know the beginings.of Reliance read a book called Polyester Prince. Nothing good about the way they made their way up.
Do you not find it a bit odd that Reliance can simply walk away with every shady thing they do..
Even Jio wasn't asked to stop giving freebies by TRAI until airtel questioned it..
This nation is hopeless..
The moot question is where is the need for these Big jokers like Ambani Adani or Damani to enter into retail consumer markets when the Indian public were well served by the Local Kirana stores who served the customers with very good personal touch. They were very magnanimous in giving credit to the needy people.Let these big players concentrate on Very huge projects due to their immense financial clout. The day is not far off when Ambani will enter into the Hair cutting business in India since so far they had cut the inner pockets of the ordinary public of India. This is the reason Nita Ambani drinks the World's costliest water bottle costing One and half lacs per litre
Try to do something with background music I couldn't able to hear you properly

Economic dynamics info is good. In the long run any biz will fail if you don't own the biz with your own money.
Ambani (Reliance and Jio) is bad wherein D-Mart has excelled in same.
Amazon was like - India isn't for beginners
Ambani himself should be punished for acting like a crook, which in reality all business people are. The court should intervene and stop Reliance who has used the back door, not only to prevent from Amazon obtaining their rightful claim of first refusal, but also throttling the actual business owner with his abnoxious practises.
9:42 it’s borrowing not lending
Walmart inventory turnaround time is 42 days.
Meanwhile Dmart bypassed everything and skyrocketed to topspot.
In the fight amabani and amazon we retail investor lost our hard earn money.Even i have lost 22k in this.
First do street level research then make content. Before Ambanis could hit, Future group was already crippling in terms of cash balance and cash flow. Margin vs rent was so huge. plus last nail in the coffin was nailed by none other than D Mart entry. Ambanis Metro aquisition just put hand full of mud on the buried coffin. It's was mounting debt cash being turned on rent vs razor thin margin against competition Smart which ultimately killed
This is basically what I said in my video.
But why is your caption.... Ambani killed big bazaar? Wrong caption different info.
