- The origin videos I did for Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles were done before Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie released, so I'm doing a whole video for the movie versions of this trio. I think in some interviews, one of the writers for sonic 1 and 2 implied that there could’ve been some outside force that ended up wiping out both the echidnas and longclaw. I like to imagine that longclaw used the master emerald one last time to summon chaos and wipeout the rest of the echidnas, destroying so much of the island in the process. This could set up why shadow would need the emeralds in sonic 3. Chaos would be the most efficient way to wipe out humanity and it’ll also give him a reason to fight team sonic.

B: Some unknown force either the Babylonians or the Black Arms have kidnapped them all and use them as leverage to get the Master Emerald and The chaos emeralds for universal domination.
@@joshuahecht6866 definitely not the second one considering neither groups are implied to be involved in this whatsoever, or depending how you want to interpret the babaloniyan text in the ice cave aren't an entirely separate group.

Tails is a huge creep this time around, but I think it has a purpose. I think he's a creep to setup and deepen his friendship with sonic later. I think next time we see them sonic will get sick of tails kissing his ass, which leads to a rift, and then genuine friendship. They didn't have time to really flesh out tails and I think this is them giving themselves an easy way out for sonic 3.
Also, it seems flimsy, tails going to warn sonic. But in the context of the movie THE strongest guy is trying to kill sonic and sonic has no idea. It's life or death, super high stakes from tails' point of view. Even if he wasn't a creep obsessed with sonic it would still be the right thing to do.
I think Tails definitely needs more development. So I’m hoping that’s wrapped into the next movie somehow just like Sonic grew a little more in Sonic 2. But if the rumors about a solo Tails movie is true, I wonder if he can carry a whole film on his own.
@@TheMentok I'm not sure if he can, but it might be like Marvel where even though it's a self titled film it's basically just another Avengers sequel. Or it could straight up be a solo Tails movie. Maybe they'll adopt the plot from his solo game.

I’m surprised the OFFICIAL Movie Novelization got away with calling Sonic and Knuckles’s world Mobius since that was one of the things that SEGA put in place to avoid a ken penders lawsuit. I mean the scumbag did sue the movie anyway but still

I wonder if they will make Sonic Heroes the Avengers of this movie universe. Gotta take a ton of set up tho.
This would be cool. I agree though, It’s going to be hard for them to write in all those characters, especially the Chaotix, Big, and Cream. But I’m really interested to see where this is going
@@TheMentok it would be really cool if they decided to give the chaotix a full-on detective movie. Tho writing a movie for cream and Big will be tough. They might make them shows, or just part of another movie.

I would like to see you cover the variations of the geographies, world rules, etc. of each Sonic world, whether it be Earth, Mobius, or otherwise.
I personally would argue that how Tails befriends Sonic in the movies is more natural and genuine compared to the video games since in the movies, Sonic and Tails both experienced social isolation because of being different. Sonic, being born with super-speed and sent to planet Earth, living in isolation with no one to talk to or befriend for 10 years, and Tails, being bullied, considered "weird" and treated differently for having two tails. Sonic even responds with "I know how that feels" in response to Tails' backstory in the movie. They end up finding something in common with each other, which makes their friendship genuine to the point of being a brotherly bond despite it originally starting off as just Tails' idol worship of Sonic from a distance, which definitely leaned towards obsession and stalking behavior (reminds me of Amy too). Sonic even makes a promise to Tails to protect him from harm before venturing off into Eastern Siberia, so that scene establishes Sonic as playing the role of the older brother figure for Tails and being personally obligated to looking after and protecting him.
I find that much better compared to how the games depict the origin of the friendship where Tails was bullied, came across Sonic and developed admiration towards him from a distance over his self-confidence and chose to follow him around (essentially stalking). Sonic simply accepts him and allows him to hang around, eventually becoming his friend. That just seems like Sonic remaining as a cold and aloof individual and simply befriending Tails because he was persistent enough to earn Sonic's attention and respect and keep up with him. Sonic is further depicted in the video games as being very egotistical and carefree and the Japanese instruction booklet of Sonic 2 even describes, or at least implies, how Sonic originally didn't care much about Tails at the time, so I really don't find that sort of friendship to be as natural or heartwarming compared to the movies where the friendship naturally progressed from simple idol worship to friendship to brotherly bond. How the origin of Sonic and Tails' friendship is depicted in the video games really comes off to me as one-sided with Tails finding the confidence in himself to befriend Sonic while Sonic remained mostly apathetic and focused on his own interests.

@@TheMentok The 3rd Sonic vs Knuckles fight scene is the shortest I hate it.
Those planets crossed out on the map- Looks like Sonic went to other planets before earth. I don't think Longclaw sent him to earth first, but to a planet similar to earth, then bounced from planet to planet after getting discovered or because they were unsuitable for long-term stay. I've read somewhere from one of the discussions/interviews with one of the writers that Sega informed them that they couldn't go in depth about Sonic's origins, (They need to change their minds in that, the way the movies are written as an origin story, the past events of Sonic and Longclaw raises a lot of questions that shouldn't be ignored.) They also weren't allowed to give the planets specific names.
A short film 10-20 mins. about Sonic and Longclaw before they were attacked, and what Sonic's life was like visually during those 10 years could suffice, if they dont want to dive into it in a full-length film.
The sequel should've talked a little bit about Sonic and the Wachowskis during the nine months. It could've fit between the mushroom planet, and the police chase scene with a narration, concluding with a line talking about his lastest hero action, then cut to the chase. Cool that the pre-quill comic dived in a little bit about Sonic's hero antics, but there should've been some more clarification as to why Sonic wanted to play hero, like why did he want to do that after getting the one thing he wanted for years: to reveal himself and never be alone again (maybe it stems from the affects of the attack as a young child.)
As for Tails, he could hold his own for a solo movie, especially since they did not talk about his backstory at all. Lastly, the humans, have proven to be great characters once again. They aren't going anywhere. They'll fit i better in the 3rd movie since Shadow's story centers around humans. Tom and Maddie should be written where they are contributing to the plot in an interesting way. Connecring one of them and their family to the events 50 years ago could work.
As for Longclaw probably kidnapping Sonic to raise him to guard the emerald in the future😯🤔 that would be a super shocking twist like, omg and Knuckles referred to him as an apprentice of Longclaw🤔😯. I doubt she's dead though.
I think you’re right about Earth being one of many places Sonic traveled to. Strangely enough Sonic doesn’t talk much about his experiences in those worlds. As you said, there’s a lot of gaps/blanks that could be filled out in future movies or even side comics but as it stands I still do have a lot of questions. With Shadow being in the next film, I imagine a lot of the focus will be on him and the characters we have now will kind of fall to the wayside (backstory wise) but I guess we’ll have to wait and see
@@TheMentok Just because Shadow was set up at the end of the 2nd movie doesn't necessarily mean that he will be in the 3rd movie. Thanos was set up at the end of the 1st MCU "The Avengers" movie, and he wasn't the antagonist of an MCU film until 6 years after that. And, Adam Warlock was set up at the end of "Guardians of The Galaxy - Volume 2" nearly a decade ago.

The Owl Tribe are probably from Mobius-America and The Echidna Tribe are probably from Mobius-Africa. Mobius is probably same on earth except the species of talking animals and creatures, I mean Mobius probably has same countries and continents as Earth.
I doubt it given it's a different planet rather than a parallel earth.

I think the biggest pointless change was having Tails be from a different world than Sonic and Knuckles. I found that as an odd change. Either they are planning something larger for a plot on other worlds or they lazily wrote it to focus more on what’s happening on Earth.

At the beginning of Sonic 2 you can see a certain hammer being carried by a scavenger. Now that can be a nice way to introduce Amy or here village/tribe

@@chromiumex2384 we don’t really know if any other owls were protecting sonic, some of the books say longclaw was the last one.
If Tails detected Sonic that he was on Earth, why did Tails travel to different planets first?
The comic just muddied Tails' journey on searching for Sonic.

@@ademaulina452 didn't he explain in the movie that he detected Sonic's energy? The graphic in the movie showed that baseball field and Tails explained how he watched everything that happened in the first movie.
Also in the comics, Tails already knew about the existence of Earth and called it a "backwater" planet, so he should've went straight to Earth, unless he detected Sonic's energy after the events on the comic.
So, in that sense Knuckles and Tails was searching for Sonic way before the events of the first Sonic movie then, but if that's how Tails found Sonic, why did Knuckles go to the mushroom planet where Dr. Robotnik made the antenna thing?
Remember that Dr. Robotnik's antenna was made at least 200 days after the events of the first movie according to Dr. Robotnik's logbook, so wouldn't it be weird for Tails to arrive on Earth at the same time as Knuckles then?
Was Tails' detector so advanced that only he found out about Sonic's energy explosion? Was he really been trying to escape Knuckles this whole 200+ days then? I dunno, that's very weird for me to be honest.
@@NiffirgkcaJ knuckles went to the mushroom because he detected the energy wave emanating from eggmans machines( that was the machines purpose).

I thought that Tail's backstory was good though, it stayed true with most backstories he have in some games. Plus we get to see Tails evolve from his insecurities and get out of his little box, however it isn't too much as we need him to grow even more in the third movie assuming that he will have a similar character arc in which he realizes that he shouldn't rely on sonic so much and he is fully capable to make his own decisions. He isn't shown too much and he isn't shown too little either, he is in the movie enough to showcase his personality, motives, flaws, and hopes while not being in it too much that it removes the impact of certain scenes such as the temple fight with Knuckles and the beach scene.

To me, I think the Sonic cinematic universe would be short-lived… IF Jim Carrey's not going to be in it, since this character is Robotnik is irreplaceable and it has been confirmed he is officially going to be retiring. Unless… something "big" calls for him to come back on Sonic 3.
The producers did say they'd continue the series without Jim and they won't replace him

You just need to get someone who at least resembles the previous actor and can sound just like them a' la a voice actor. Speaking of voice acting, that's easier than replacing an actor who's both vocally and physically portraying a character, but both can be done. It's really stupid to stop using a character just because the actor who has been portraying them has retired, died, etc!
@@Optimegatrongodzilla trying to find a one to one replacement a terrible idea in regards to real life actors since it's always going to be obvious it's not the original person. Recasting is best done knowing you can't get the exact same performance.

I would love a choatix movie. And obviously shadow will have his own movie after sonic 3 since he is easily one of if not the most popular character in the sonic franchise
It's been my theory since the Tails post-credit scene that Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles were each infused (accidentally or fatefully) with Chaos energy and that that was the source of their powers. The logical conclusion of this idea is that we'd eventually encounter 4 other Sonic characters (Shadow, Rouge, 2 others, possibly including Robotnik) with similar powers and they would team up for the series climax.
Tails doesn't have that energy.

@@legionaireb not really no. The energy sonic knuckles and shadow have is specifically shown as an electrical current (sonic even jokes about it in the first movie). Nothing like that is shown for tails. The colored streak you see with tails is just a generic visual for a character going incredibly fast. Sonic has the same effect in several cartoons.

and yes please less focus on humans...i know they are supposed to be "standin for the viewer" but come one we came to see Sonic..
The references were great in the latest movie because I think a lot of that was missing in the first one. So here’s hoping they go all in for Sonic 3. And I think if the humans are majorly involved next movie, it should be looped into G.U.N scenes.
