I love how you research about the locations you're going to beforehand in your videos, really shows another level of passion for food.
Imagine being Mike Chen and suddenly craving a food item from a restaurant that is on the other side of the planet!
Sounds frustrating and I'd be sad too.
It's as extra as it gets in Dubai, isn't it? All that food looked insanely good, especially that mixed grill. Maybe someday when I have a ton of money I'll check out Dubai and see what it's like...?
The UAE isn't actually that much. I went in 2019 to a very comfortable 5 star hotel in Ajman called the Ajman Saray which is a lot cheaper (120gbp per night at the moment) and had a free one hour bus to Dubai mall. Of course if you want to stay in Dubai itself it'll be a lot more expensive.
Go somewhere else and save money
It's actually not that expensive if you go in the off season

Dubai’s quite an expensive place to be at especially if you’re not a local. For the locals, it’s usually a normal price. But it’s smarter to go outside the main city Centre for food as it is waaaaay more affordable.

@@XingAoShen Yup. It’s not just a chicken nugget restaurant though, it’s a fried chicken restaurant like KFC or Popeyes and they serve sandwiches and other stuff too, but their fried chicken and nuggets are their most popular dishes.

I have been to the Dubai mall many times! You are right you will not get tired of it. A good mix of cheap to expensive variety of everything. I love the Mall of Emirates too for it’s European Architecture.

The prices at that Huqqa restaurant were a bit eyewatering!
The portion of nutella was about $6.50, the caviar truffle baked potato about $54, I dread to imagine the price of the mixed grill! 😅🤣

It's kind of a Chinese attitude too. In China, going out for a meal with friends usually means ordering several dishes to mix and match, and knowing which ones go together is part of the traditional food culture.

Can't afford the cheap brands at the local grocery. Definitely can't afford to eat out (occasionally get a Super Sonic Breakfast Burrito). Imagine how wonderful it must be to experience the cuisine from throughout the world.

Al-baik's broasted chicken the best! I don't know much of the difference in taste because its originally from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia but iI bet its pretty good.
Mike, if you ever come to Australia you should go to Victoria, as there is a lot of food options in the city and a shopping mall known as Chadstone with an amazing food. Hope Dubai is amazing!
If in Melbourne there's a ton of good south Asian food in the city also. There's an amazing Chinatown down Swanton street. You can find amazing Hotpot, pho, Ramen or Korean fried chicken all 10-15 minutes away from each other. You should definitely plan a trip to Australia for the food scene.
Chadstone is a tourist trap with a pretty pitiful food scene, just my experience living in Victoria. Definitely better off to eat out in Melbourne.

Chadstone is def overrated when it comes to food. Not saying it’s bad, but there are so many better options in melb. For Italian food go to lygon st, Greek food Lonsdale st, Chinese food there’s Chinatown, box hill, glen waverly, Clayton, vietnamese food at Footscray, Richmond, Springvale, etc. melb is def foodie heaven, anything and everything is here, I’m so lucky I live in this great city

Dubai is actually very underrated for food. It is too damn good there, especially since you have the best Middle Eastern and South Asian cooks living there to make money.

Hey if you ever want suggestions to places on St.Louis I can give you a good list of places to try. I’m a transplant there so I can sift through the stuff the locals love because they grew up with it and the actual good food

I agree with Mike. That second place was so overpriced, while the food actually did not look that impressive. Definitely a tourist trap.

I'd go back to Dubai to eat at the mall. The food looks delicious! I don't remember seeing those restaurants the last time I was there.
