This is by far the most easily, well explained video available. Great camera work shows exactly how to remove each lens cover without breaking them! Thanks
Tweak I did to help get the map lights out without breaking them was to wrap duct tape around each side of the needle nose pliers, sticky side out. It helps grip the light bulb for easier removal! Awesome video!
This video helped a lot for my 2015 4runner limited. I replaced all the interior lights knowing where to use the little pry bar tool. The only ones left are the mirror lights.
I own a 2019 tacoma crew cab. The two small overhead lights towards the windshield. I pressed on the left cover with my finger. My question is can those covers get broken from my finger?
Awesome video! On the map lights, I did the same as another poster and removed the 2 screws and dropped the whole assembly. No fuss, and took less than 5 minutes. I also turned off the light switches before trying to remove the bulbs. :)
I saw someone use tape to take the lights out and it worked great. Just made a tiny funnel of duct tape and secured it then pulled the light out. Cracked my first light with the pliers lol.
For the map bulbs, mine were in damn tight. It was so easier just to open the sunglasses holder remove 2 screws and pull down that panel. Twist the light retainer and remove the bulb without worrying about busting a bulb
Hey folks, any T10 bulbs work (I like Lasfit) and 31mm Festoon. Again I’m a fan of Lasfit products. For the needle nose method, grip near the base and pry out, dont squeeze the bulb.
That’s a solid install tip. Using needle nose pliers near the base and prying out instead of squeezing the bulb can definitely make removal easier and prevent breakage.
So I used this video as a reference and on a 2011 4runner the center dome light that you say be careful, I broke the bulb and had glass all over, so the way it worked the best is to pull down the surrounding plastic trim from the rear facing side about 1-1/2" and twist the bulb socket out and pull out the bulb, way easier and less dangerous.
Great instructions except one thing. The map lights. Just unscrew the two bolts. Then unplug the single connection cord and take your time and do it properly

Great video man! Unfortunately I shattered one of my map bulbs when trying to remove with pliers. The first one worked fine. If anyone has any advice for getting it out I would very much appreciate any guidance! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@HeadlightRevolution I had something different happen. The bulb was really tight. Some how the bulb and the base went back up in the hole. Does the overhead console come off?
For the vanity bulbs you may want to consider sticking to filament bulbs unless you can find an LED retrofit that has a decent Color Rendering Index (CRI). LED's are great for everything else but if you have a bitchy girlfriend who actually spends time on that vanity she's not going to like a low CRI bulb to apply makeup which deals with proper coloring and shading.
I tried the pliers and was afraid of breaking the bulbs. The needle nose pliers kept slipping off the bulb. Also tried wrapping tape around the bulb, didn't work for me. I then used double sided tape on a pair of needle nose pliers. I trimmed the tape making a long slender triangle matching the jaws of the pliers. Bulbs popped right out with no slippage from the pliers and required less pressure insuring I didn't break the bulbs. Secondly, concerning the door puddle lights. It's much easier to disconnect the wire connection then removing the light assembly so you can see it better and work on it much easier. There's a grey plastic cover over the bulb which needs to be removed to access the bulb. I found by inserting a small flat screwdriver in the gap just below the apex of the arch of the cover and applying a little pressure the cover pops right off. After installing the new bulb and replacing the grey cover all you have to do is reconnect the wires before inserting assembly back in the door. Hope these tips help!!
Don't use pliers to remove the front bulbs!!! You'll brake it. Remove 2 screws behind the glasses compartment with a Phillips screwdriver and remove the whole overhead console. The bulbs are held in a plastic socket. Twist it to remove and replace the bulbs properly and much easier. It literally takes a minute, maybe two. DO NOT USE PLIERS!.
This is by far the most easily, well explained video available. Great camera work shows exactly how to remove each lens cover without breaking them!

Great video man! Unfortunately I shattered one of my map bulbs when trying to remove with pliers. The first one worked fine. If anyone has any advice for getting it out I would very much appreciate any guidance! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Very tiny needle nose pliers, and a picker if you have one! You should be able to wiggle the T10 base out
@@HeadlightRevolution I had something different happen.
You think the factory would install LED lights, they should for the amount of money that you pay for them
Most OEM Manufactuers offer LED package now, but they aren't cheap!
it was 31 mm
That's what we installed in the Video!
DO NOT USE PLIERS!.
good tip!
This method is WAY easier and doesn't require additional disassembly: ua-cam.com/video/t3ArtZHGquw/v-deo.html
Andrew Evanoff I wrapped friction tape around my pliers tips and never broke any.
