It is a 10 string bass. I built it with a 34" scale and it is tuned in fourths from D (an octave below drop D on a normal bass) to B. If you have a problem with calling it a bass ( which is short for bass guitar) then call it what you would like, or consult the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy (free at plato.stanford.edu/ ) on the problem of the many and or Sorites paradox.
It is not a War guitar.
And if you think that my music 'has no soul', it is not my fault, I am a ginger.
Thank you for all the supportive and interesting comments.
More notes than the entire protuction of AC/DC
LOL AD/DC need to take these guys as an influence.
you won the internet hahahaha

Because he's Scott Plummer
No soul? The song is about an illness, and I think this captivates the sick, medical, agonizing, pathological feeling that the music wants to represent
could not have said it better

RIP, no one else did it quite like this guy 🤘
Thank goodness .
Scott you hands down inspired me to play tech death on bass all those years ago even before archspire was a big name and for that I thank you with every fiber of my being. Thank you Scott.
Riv H He took his life lastnight. Hopefully he was able to see this

For all you creative, talented, inspiring people out there with depression - like me! - know that this moment will pass, this time in your life will pass. I'm sitting here, down on my luck a bit, but we all have so much music to create, so many people and moments to live for.
Keep going
Thank you!
Thank you random comment, you made me happy.
Thank you.
Really needed this, thank you, shred on 🤘
Maybe it will, maybe it won't. Statistics are pretty bleak though.
Didn't know he passed away. This is one of the first bass videos I've seen in the platform. I'll miss him.
God needed his best bass warrior.
You will forever be missed man. I remember the first time I heard you play, it was literally next level, a huge realization on how far you can really go with an instrument. Rest In Peace Scott!!! You shredded that fuckin bass harder than anyone!
Amazing guy. I am so lucky you let me hold this bass. I am so sad at what just happened
In 9th grade I used to watch this, I started guitar in 2007. Still making heavy music to this day. Cool to find this video again.
May he rest in peace

Came back here to give this guy my respects I literally don't know any bassist like this guy to this very day and its 2021
There aren’t any. He was one of the pioneers of this techy deathcore sound
The 100 people who played bass for psyopus sounds very similar.
I remember finding this video 10+ years ago. Can’t believe how fast time flew. I found it because I was searching for the most insane stuff I could find: 8 string guitars, 9 strings, brutal tech death etc. and then I found this! My 14 year old mind exploded.
So sad to learn that he has passed away :(
Rest in peace Scott. Thank you for inspiring me to keep on playing bass.
R.I.P Scott Plummer.
30 second low quality clips have the best content
RIP, love you man.
RIP my guy and to one of the first "Crazy guitar-shredding" videos I ever saw in my life!
I dont understand why people think this is random garbage....sure its chaotic and scattered, but it is a WRITTEN PIECE(meaning it can be performed and re-performed, not just random un-memorized notes), and my guessing is that it was the writers intention to be that way(Viraemia titles themselves Pathologic Death Metal for christ sakes, what is it supposed to do, appeal to the masses in the same manner Slipknot does?).
Plus, who could forget that Chorus in their song Cancrum Oris? Brilliant shredding.
60 years ago 12 tone serial music went through the same phase, though even more extreme. Note sequence, rhythms, intrumentation, etc, was all serialized and all written. In the end, one of it's most celebrated practitioner's, Karlheinz Stockhausen, came to the conclusion that when you create a texture that seems to be too consistent, it becomes boring. Obviously, if the player is playing the notes extremely quick, and there is no pattern to lock onto, it's not going to be meaningful to *most* listeners. The most you can say for this music is that it has a lot of energy, but after a while, the mind/ear seeks more substance.
Bach embedded deep symmetries into his music, but made sure that the melodic and harmonic content was interesting and appealing.
+Mike Loutris I like this comment and Bach is awesome. It's very true what you said about serial music, however since this is metal and metal is about head banging lmao (not necessarily true and there's many ways to experience metal) it works.

R.I.P. Scott, you are probably shredding in heaven right now
this is NOT the type of bassist that Glenn Fricker is talking about.
i don't see how this is wasted talent to any degree. he's obviously playing something that he likes and he's doing a superb job at it. talent is not wasted if it is dedicated to something you really enjoy.
the caption alone is an artform
RIP you amazing bassist! First tech death bassist I ever liked when this was being recorded I was blown away.
I already know that tab book looks like a dictionary
"And if you think that my music 'has no soul', it is not my fault, I am a ginger."
Best description ever.
scott got me into 10 string. rest in peace. you were amazing.
What a beast. He definitely knows his stuff.
RIP... such talent.
timeless classic
The demo by this band is amazing. At first I thought the same thing that it was just random sweeps, but it really is awesome and fun for me to listen to.
Rest easy legend
Still missed. This band was the first to truly get me into tech death along with necrophagist. The EP still holds up as some of the best tech ever written, in my opinion.
He inspired me to do tech death
Descansa en paz Scott tu legado prevalecera en la historia del Death Metal...
Rip. Legend.
Brother, you are way beyond my skill level. That was inspiring, motivating, and kickass!!! Push it to the limit and keep posting!
His skill is absolutely amazing... tap sweeps, regular ones, the tapping intro (which is hard to position your hands and get correctly)
how did we go from death`s scream bloody gore to this?
Because metal can only become heavier and faster
I wish you guys would make another album

Dude, i saw the first second of this video and thought that exact sentence....you legitimately stole the words out of my brain before i thought it...Awesome.
But does it djent?
Certified UA-cam classic
Scott, all I know is the sheer level of technical skill needed to play that beast, and at that speed. amazing mate.
RIP Legend. Grew up watching your talent.
Is that a fretted ironing board?
Hail the Viraemia! Hail the Scott!
You can't be a slouch and attempt to pull off sweep licks like that! He was to bass what Shawn Lane was to guitar -- a shredder extraordinaire and a master of his chosen craft! R.I.P. Scott, and thanks for taking the bass to a whole new level!
Viraemia riffs stuck in my head all day you guys seriously know how to create incredible catchy fun time groovy tech death. I could seriously listen to the ep all day on repeat and never get sick of it. You guys created a fucing masterpiece.
RIP legendary bassist
This band has very simple structures, and in one case it is literally verse chorus. The individual riffs themselves are crazy, which I myself love, but the structure of these riffs is simple and well thought out. They're actually a very catchy band. The real reason people don't like this music is because it's too brutal for them. They talk shit about this band and then listen to progressive metal which is just as technically challenging with complicated structures. The only conclusion is that it is too brutal. Only a certain percent of the population will ever enjoy atonal chromatic (Thou they are also in key many times as well.) forms of music over something more "melodic" but people like us do exist so how about you all stop whining and let us enjoy what our tastes tell us is good? Just a thought...
I thought you only hated hipster food xD
NecroComet XD
i listen to grind/sludge/power-violence and that sort of stuff. not the biggest fan of death metal, mostly cause i feel the vox get kinda silly at times, and often has complete lack of dynamics ( which is quite hard to get when, you have a pumbeling bass drum going on every 32nd note through an entire song)
What band is this?
jon08231998 It's in the video title, the band is Viraemia.
Ive watched this video like 10 times and never looked at the channel name or the description because the playing was so amazing. I just realized this is Scott Plummer (aka the best bassist ever)
Dude was beast on bass. Rest In Peace brother
RIP - another musician gone to depression.
That is a tree
That's just beautiful to hear. It's like listening to music from another universe.
It's a good thing they had a Nexium advertisement before this bass demo, because I now have an upset stomach. These spider hands will haunt me. Excellent work, young friend!

I Don't Know 0123456789 Where did you find that?
This is one of the first UA-cam videos I ever saw. RIP king
Absolute madness! I love my death metal, but surely you would go insane playing stuff like that all the time. 😂 Great playing!
I'm tired of "emotion". More bands need to have more strings, there needs to be more people pushing the envelope of technical ability. This is different beast, one that doesn't need preconceived notions of "emotion". Emotion doesn't make this band be good at what they're trying to do.
Emotion in music is not like actual emotion, it more like the intensity of the song, in metal at least. The intensity can be ruined by making the song almost to fast to comprehend. Like other technical death metal bands have been able to play extremely fast and technical, while maintaining a constant brutal feel. The amount of notes you throw in a song doesn't make it brutal, the amount of work does.
I personally think this song has emotion
Impressive, but boring. Big problem in the tech-death world. Lots of virtuoso but not much in the way of emotion.
listen to the whole ep and then talk, its amazing
Thats just stupid :\
I agree. I've been going more in the black metal direction lately. Just love old school sounding riffs
Bob Snieger Why?
Cody R emotion is music is a very stupid adhominem
whenever i get in an argument with my gf i play this on my bass and she blows me on the spot
Can't imagine viraemia without him
was hard to hear the bass
sirspikey there is no bass hes their 3rd guitarist who plays with his fingers and sometimes he will do bass notes but fuckal so really this band has no bassist
To the people who think its wasted talent: id like to actually see you cover this song, then you can tell me how talentless he is.
98% would fail before they started practicing.
you have achieved 100%. Your quest is complete
God damn it this was seriously the best technical death metal release EVER and it was only a fuckin' EP!. I was so stoked when I heard they were going to release a full length and now its never going to happen. Good luck on your endeavors man whatever you may do with just know that even with just your ep you guys changed the standard of TDM. you created a fucking masterpiece you are seriously some of the most skilled musicians out there. Please do something with your immense amount of talent!
What happened to tech death? It used to be an interesting thing because more than relying on wankery and too random-sounding riffs, it relied on very complex structures, odd drum beats, polyrhythm, odd time signatures, instrument experimentation, etc. This is no more than some sweeping over a constant blastbeat. Yeah, of course, this stuff is almost impossible to play to the usual guitarist/bassist and it's stunning to see someone pull this out, but it's nonetheless an uninteresting and uninspired piece of music. My opinion.
it souind cool
what the fuck am i looking at
"Excuse me sir how many strings does your bass have?" "All of them."
Whether you like the music or not, building that thing and then playing it like you know what you're doing is a fucking feat. Well done.
