Awesome cutting Philip! Especially appreciate the use of blue jeans as an extra layer on the tatami as these oxtails were supposed to be used against layers of textile “armor” (campaign time was during winter in late Qing, when granaries were full). Spectacular consistency as always, and great summary of features. I have this dao and love its cutting power.
Is the top half of the Dao flimsy. Or is it strong enough to parry an incoming blow with the flat side of the top half without bending like a wu Shu Dao. You don't have to answer but it is a deciding factor for me on either this Dao or the Han Wei
They all cut pretty well, depends which style of sword you like, military saber guys will like the jians and tangdao, falchion and polish saber guy will like niuweidao and yanlingdao
This is normal for a sword with a solidly peened hilt. The good quality European swords with peened hilts that I cut with all produce a ringing sound. I am very happy to see that LK Chen is producing Chinese swords with historically accurate peened hilts.I expect that his other peened hilt designs will ring like this as well.
You make those cuts look effortless, my friend. Well done!
Your technique is Very good, was Very Nice to see. This sword is beautiful. Overall, your video is 10/10. Thanks

Which sword from LK Chen that you’ve cut with would you say is your favorite?

Getting ready to test a pair of these LK Oxtails this afternoon. Looking forward to it.
Nice cutting, man!
I came from kult of athena after watching this video, specifically to like and subscribe. That says it all, right there. Good job.
Have one on order that should be arriving very soon, nice to see it cuts like an absolute beast.
Just ordered one. Excited to get form and cutting practices in.
I hope LK Chen makes a Da Dao some day.
he did actually go check it out its sick
It makes a funny ringing noise when cutting just like the Hanwei practical dao!
That is because the hilt assembly is all nice and tight.
Beautiful singing. That's a well tempered blade
Great video! Thank you very much!
Would you say it would be practiced on the street?
Blue jeans used to be exclusively working clothes.
Love the videos and info. Is a falchion or dao more fun to cut with?
a Central Asian influenced sword with Chinese elements added to it.
looks like a mongol sword
