Is your truck equipped with Auto Air Conditioning? It does, if there is an Auto switch on the panel/display. I recommend investing in a Launch C reader Elite Fords. Cost approximately $120. Enhanced level diagnostic scan tool. You'll be able to view live data from various modules on the truck. Also, special functions for bidirectional control on various systems. I would recommend viewing the AC live data for Evaporator temperature. Normal is about 35 to 45 degrees F. If it reads in the 50 deg F or higher, and you see the low side refrigerant line by the firewall is icing up, then the Evaporator temperature sensor is inaccurate and keeping the compressor on which causes your Evaporator to freeze up.
That was one of the first google results we found: the dual auto air. Unforturnately that isn't the issue with ours. It just blows hot now all the time, and doesn't throw a code. We're at the mercy of Ford at this point. ~D
We have, and are still digging into it. It looks like AZ has a limit to the GVWR that you can apply the lemon law to, and we may be over that. Still checking on options. Thanks for the support! ~D
Just consider, if it’s related to the compressor breaking, any shrapnel can get circulated throughout the ac lines, condenser, etc. - just replacing the compressor will make it work short term - until debris goes in and damages your new compressor (if you ever get one).
I was looking for truck but know Ford lost my Business. So I looked at Toyota Tacoma and I heard their having problems now. E bike is looking really good now
With all of this cluster...I'd go to an independent automotive air conditioning shop, one with a good reputation, for a diagnosis but I wouldn't tell them anything about the past issues with Ford other than they can't fit you in for repairs. See what they come up with. If they say its the compressor then it only makes sense to fix it on your own. Likely that will run about $900 but you are fixed and done with Ford. Maybe submit a request for reimbursement since its summer and they can't supply you with parts. A/C compressors are made by several companies so if Ford is out of them or the clutch, there's other brands such as "Sanden" and they come with the electric clutch for about $250 if you buy it while a shop has to mark it up. Then evacuate system, add refrigerant and test for operation. Lemon law applies to vehicles that have "been fixed by Ford" 3 times and still doesn't correct the problem. Since there are no parts, I doubt lemon law is going to help. There's a Lemon Law lawyer named Steve Lehto who has a youtube channel. He is in Michigan and just recently retired but he will be able to give good info on the lemon law. His info is listed on his youtube. www.youtube.com/@stevelehto
Sorry to hear about your ordeal, is it the compressor that went out? hey i don't if it will work but turn truck off pull ac / heating fuse out cycle truck key off and on let stand for 2 minutes off, turn truck on for 1 minute reinstall fuse turn truck on and AC see if it works. good luck
We tried everything I could think of, including the g-force test (tapping with a hammer). It's got to be a bad compressor but we need to get Ford to admit it. Right now it's hot air all the time. ~D
I've been reading a lot lately about how just about anything built and sold from 2021 to the present, i.e., during covid, will have problems with the manufacturing process. The big three no different. Even complaints about Airstream have risen about their units built between 21-23. Something about building stuff way too fast to meet pent up demand during and after this period. Is your Ford gas or diesel? I wouldn't think it makes a difference re: the a/c system, but I would search around for an answer re the two engine types and sizes. Just a thought. Safe travels back home whenever that happens. S
Once again, we're on the same page. When we started looking for our next trailer (which turned out to be our current Airstream), we wanted something pre-COVID for the exact reasons you've outlined. Not only was it tough to get parts post-pandemic, but the work force had changed. Our new truck is diesel, and it made a huge difference in towing for us. I'm not sure that gas vs diesle makes a difference of the current issue with A/C, but we sure do wish we had our old gasser back. The A/C was amazing even if the hills required more work and patience. We'll see you down the road, Steve. Be Safe. ~D
Thanks for the sympathy. Not a big deal in the overall scheme of things, but it's been frustrating. The back seat cover for the dogs has been great. We got ours off of Amazon and highly recommend it. Here's a link to it. amzn.to/47h1xJ7 Happy to answer any questions about it. ~d
For the dogs, stop at a gas station and get a chilled gallon of water and use that as a cooler; slide it up against them. It works well. I had to do this for my cat when I blew a rad hose in the middle of summer here in CA.
Bring that truck to a good local mechanic. That's too much drama for such a simple Repair. I usually Repair 2 track A/c jobs daily.. can't believe this!🤦
Sorry to hear of the issues on your new truck. My sister has a new Cadillac with a bad air conditioner system. I wonder if the manufactures are buying their compressor from the same source overseas? The parts could be on a slow boat from China. They're hiding something if they have that many units on backorder - In my opinion.
I think a broken Cadillac is even more sad than a broken Super Duty! We've read/heard that it was a "bad batch", so who know how many different makes/models could be affected. ~D
Amazing, Ford probably built 10.000 trucks last week all with new compressors but Dealers can’t have any. So the customers that already spent the money on the trucks are out of luck but the new builds are good to go. I have been fortunate with my 2023 but if it goes out I won’t even bother. Just take it straight to GMC and trade it in. Ford clearly does not take care of their customers nor do they care to.
U where heading back to area where dealer was gonna order the part why didn't you get a replacement truck to use until u got back they could have fixed it but u didnt
We didn't know when they might get a part that was on "indefinite backorder" and were hopeful we could get it fixed somewhere else (and somewhere cooler). ~D
Right?! We're looking into our options. Evidently they have to try to fix it a few times before it becomes a lemon. We still can't get anyone to try. ~D
Dude, instead of whining about your AC compressor. Napa and Auto Zone have them in stock. Grow a pair and replace it your self! I have priced them and they are under $250.00. You must remember what a socket set looks like.
what part did they say they were ordering? I know its under warranty, but why don't you have a local AC guy have a look at it. Ask around service stations etc for a local AC repair shop. Could be something minor. Just so you can continue your trip in comfort.
They said the code they pulled told them it was the clutch/coil. Local A/C would void the warranty. Yes, it would be fixed, but can't afford to lose the warranty. ~D
The clutch is fairly easy to replace , go to Napa purchase one install it keep the old one reinstall before you take it back in for the repair? Just a thought.

This. This is a huge concern.

I was looking for truck but know Ford lost my Business. So I looked at Toyota Tacoma and I heard their having problems now. E bike is looking really good now
Staying home is looking really good to us right now. There's just nothing reliable anymore, and nobody stands behind the autos they sell.

Sorry for your trouble, how frustrating
Thank you! We realize it’s not a huge deal in the overall scheme of things, but it is frustrating.

i love following your pain in this matter
I wish we didn’t have to go through it, but I’m glad you’re here with us. Support of any kind is appreciated.

There are worse places to spend the winter, but I'd rather be home!

Good tip.
We have been using an icepack where they sit in the back and giving them a light spray with water. They don't mind at all.

Ford needs to give you a 2025f350
Right!?!
I’m not sure I’d take another Ford if they gave it to me.

Sorry to hear that. Problems certainly aren't limited to just one make.

Here's an idea buy a 110 home ac window unit hang it in rear window and roll, then take a video of your new truck and send it to corporate
We seriously considered that! If there was a way to safely run our generators in the bed of the truck we would be doing just that!
~D
Never again Ford, fix often repair daily. Send the video link to Ford’s CEO.
Maybe he'll subscribe to our channel!

You bought a Ford right?…you’re asking for too much from it.
😂😂
Just got home in my 1998 Marquis. AC blowing ice cold. Sad to think this is what Ford has devolved into. Not good.
Very envious of you and your Marquis! Love those older models.

Ford has already sold the ones with bad units, so why fix those??
Here's hoping your '23 got one from the good batch.

@@hathawaywego...and the replacement truck probably wouldn't have the right hitch for that trailer?

If anybody but Ford fixes it I’ve voided the warranty.
Thanks for watching .

After what he paid on that F350, that’s on Ford to fix. They won’t refund the purchase price either.
Get rid of the truck, and buy a Dodge Ram
We're considering it!

That's been our experience with this particular issue.

It’s a Ford, they have had the worst quality for 4 years straight and are just getting worse. No surprise at all
Hopefully they can turn it back around. Too much money for too little quality.

Ford is still the way to go for trucks…
I miss the days when I loved this truck... 😔
