    I do not agree.
I feel like her inheriting his theme is symbolic of her doing what she's been setting out to do for most of the time we've seen her: becoming the inheritor of the Von Karma legacy and forging her own path with that legacy to make it something she can be personally proud of rather than allow it to tarnish with his misdeeds. I find it a brilliant move to give her this music for her to take her family name and regain the honor she feels belongs with it, from her father who disgraced it. It symbolizes Manfred throwing away a family legacy only for Fransizka to claim it and to redeem it, herself. Thus I feel like you actually miss this point and I don't agree with any of what you're saying.

It isn’t his theme, it never was. It’s been Franziska’s from the very beginning. Manfred’s theme is nonexistent, and Great Revival (especially Franziska’s version) doesn’t fit him. Court - Guardians of the Law fits him more.
      Otherwise I agree.

Unfortunately, I doubt Franziska’s intent with the courtroom bursting was to help Phoenix. The last declaration made in court was Shelly’s accusation to Adrian, meaning that Edgeworth was “losing”. After the verdict, Franziska is disappointed that Phoenix is so chipper about losing, which makes me think she came in hoping that the evidence would achieve the guilty verdict.
So in a way, it felt like it was still early in an arc - she did something good by accident and isn’t sure how to feel about it.

The fact that Manfred doesn't have a theme even though he's the final villain of the first game is a crime.
although the composer redeemed himself by giving that orgasmic organ theme to Gant

I've always been against Manfred having any sort of "Great Revival" leitmotif, as I feel that the theme is explicitly representative of Edgeworth/Franziska shrugging off the baggage of his teachings - coming into their own as prosecutors seeking truth rather than a perfect win record. Given Manfred is... Manfred, I don't feel it's appropriate (thematically) to give him a theme song that's emblematic of his ideology being shunned. But (out of universe) I can understand why they gave him Franziska's theme, for the same reason I think they used it for Edgeworth's first appearance in 2-4... Because it's a much more grandiose version of the theme, making for a more impressive entrance.
I'd want to say more about Franziska herself, but I think I'll wait until I'm done replaying the AAI Collection - especially AAI2, given the deeply-pervasive theme of the relationship between fathers and their children, along with a young prosecutor who's been raised as a 'prodigy' being forced to come to terms with uncomfortable truths about their family - culminating in a decision as to whether they'll continue to walk down the Prosecutor's Path...

I haven't played the Investigations games beyond a bit of the demo version of the first one, and I think there is an even more obvious contradiction in the leitmotif beyond subtext. It's in major. It sounds happy and triumphant, not two adjectives I'd describe Manfred with. He is the big bad of the first game, and it's not very subtle that he is the bad guy. Compare to Gant's bombastic yet slightly unsettling theme (Because you have to figure out that he is the killer)

@@Aciross Yeah, that's the title the official localisation uses for GK2, but I was referring to the metaphorical Prosecutor's Path that Edgeworth brings up at the end of JFA to Franziska. The path representing the journey he made to leave Manfred's shadow and understand his true purpose in the courtroom - one that Franziska (and eventually Sebast-I mean Eustace) must also face.

Yeah the lowkey sexism of ace attorney kinda makes me sad when I remember it, it’s why I really hope Athena stars in the next game cuz I really wanna like her more: her personality is just so upbeat but she barely gets the spotlight.

Athena gets so screen time because she sucks, if they make a good female attorney, (for example, one Somalier to Susato in G2-1) then people would actually want a game

Interesting video. Admittedly it's been years since I played the DS Ace Attorney games, so I can't recall my thoughts on the theme being used by Manfred at the time, but I can definitely see how it would devalue the theme.

There's 2 Versions of "The Great Revival". One for each of the Von Karma successors.

  • @rang2111
    @rang2111 5 днів тому +1

While I agree with a few of your points, the premise of the video seems... a bit off the mark. The original great revival isn't franziska's theme, it's franziska and edgeworth's themes (albeit, franziska's is played to a different key than edgeworth's). The theme also plays before franziska's big moment, and it plays for edgeworth, not franziska. So it's only natural more people will associate it with edgeworth instead.
I don't believe the reasoning for this is based in sexism, rather I always found it very profound that both members of the von Karma family should use that leitmotif

I remember finding it really weird that Manfred pretty much inherited Franziska’s theme in the Investigations games. I think Edgeworth and Franziska sharing similar themes is suitable enough because it can be taken as both of them breaking free from Manfred’s grasp in different ways, but it’s so weird to me that Manfred just sort of… gets it too? Either way, I’m glad to find that someone made a video on this, because I really do feel that it is the *only* musical mistake in the series, just like the thumbnail says

    Bottom line, I agree.
The track is _too _*_good_* for Manfred, but I can give them a pass for wanting his cameo in the spinoff to feel, as others have mentioned here by others in the comments, "grandiose."
...trouble is, the leitmotif is used in the Objection and Pursuit themes, too. It crops up _all over,_ and Manfred doesn't/shouldn't get tied into that... cheapens the impression, and since we're already listening to it a *_lot..._*
