I Got in Trouble Because of This Character Meet - Confessions of a Theme Park Worker

- I was considered a pretty good cast member at Disney (at least I think so), but there were a couple of times that I did get in a bit of trouble with my managers. But I couldn't help it.
A behind the scenes look at what a former worker at Disney World, Silver Dollar City, and Busch Gardens Florida experienced in his time working at the parks. From driving large safari trucks around live wild animals while cracking one silly joke after another, to spending 5 years as a #PhotoPass photographer at #WaltDisneyWorld and seeing and experiencing all sorts of things, to being a conductor and #trainrobber on the famous Frisco Silver Dollar Line at #SilverDollarCity. With 10 years of working in the parks, there's lots of stories to tell. Here is some of them...

I should clarify one comment that I didn't finish. I don't laugh at NASCAR fans. I do at those (usually online) who are never happy with anything they do and complain all the time. That's only a small group of fans. Honestly many of their fans are some of the best out there for anything.
You aren't lying online they complain about anything no matter what good was to be found it's like it's a trend to bash which is not cool in my book
Management might not have liked your joking around with Donald, but if Donald himself enjoyed it, as well as the guests (I personally would have found it absolutely hilarious if I were there) then that's all that really matters at the end of the day
Cruella's puppies line towards Pluto would have been hilarious to see in person.
I loved seeing characters walking around especially when I was at Disneyland I met Alice and I told her to honor my first visit, since I was wearing my Cuphead shirt, I said we could have a tea party but we don't need teacups because my friends have Cups as Heads, which she said well that is so convenient and then she cheered Cuphead with a pretend teacup then we told my photo with her, after some time Mad hatter walked by and I greeted him too and then Alice told him about the Cuphead characters on my shirt which Mad Hatter replied I like it I like it, fun experience at the park 😄

Poor Donald 😂😂 sounds like it would have been hilarious to witness. Interesting that there was a hierarchy of who you could and couldn’t work with!
The slow family's fault. I am NOT taking away the possibility that they may have disabilities. Bur if they were being lazy then yeah its their fault. But if it's the other way around, Donald was being a jerk.

I swear supervisors and managers have absolutely no sense of humor or anything like that. It seems like it’s nothing but business and 😠😠
Hopefully you didn't get into too much trouble about Donald chasing you, since I'm sure the guest enjoyed seeing that and added to the good guest experience.

You should do a video segment on the Disney Mindset and how at times it can be counterproductive.
I did do one recently on if Disney "brainwashes" it's employees. I'd be curious though to hear what ways you think it's counter productive. :-)

With Donald chasing you around I had flashbacks of Burger King during Halloween week chasing the kids around the dining room dressed as a vampire and asking the kids is that blood on your French fries good times
At Burger King Halloween week I had a scanner plugged into a small speaker and from my walkie talkie I could make the speaker talk when it was behind a fake tombstone to mess with the kids lol
So I never been to any of the Disney parks BUT I do have a funny Universal Character story...ish?
Okay so for a bit of context and backstory. When I was a sophomore in high school, our Marching Band took a trip to Universal Orlando Resort. 1 day at Wet N Wild (it was the last year it was open and I am so glad I went before it turned into the Endless Summer Resorts) and 1 day at Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure. Well, I was one of those high schoolers that would get what some people call "Toasted" (If you know, you know ;) ) and I had a "special" brownie before we went to Universal. My dumbass decided to scarf a whole one down while in the security line before entering City Walk at 11 in the morning. On an empty stomach. It decided to take its FULL effect while I was in IoA, in line for Jurassic Park River Adventure. So I really....REALLY loved the ride lol.
ANYWAYS, I get off the ride and use the human dryers. While I'm in the dryer, one of the Team Members comes up to my friend and I with a baby dinosaur. I had to do a triple take because I thought some random dude came up to us and was showing off their puppy dog. It clicked in my brain that it was a dinosaur, but it didn't click that it was a puppet so I thought I was looking at a living, breathing, blinking, and chirping baby dinosaur! So after staring at it in disbelief for a good few minutes (All I could do was point and stare like a little kid lol), the TM left with the baby dino to interact with other guests(I think). As soon as he walks away I start DYING of laughter.
....Eh I thought it was a funny interaction looking back. I legit hope that Team Member is having a good life though.
TLDR; Highschooler that was stoned thought a puppet was a real dinosaur XD
I love being at Epcot when it happened got to take an awesome photo with Pinocchio and Geppetto am I favorite how to be catching Jiminy cricket in front of animal before the gates

Wow, character palooza in HS used to be all the characters of the show?. I went to it in 2017 (in another location at the park), and there were 4 character spots (some of them singles and some pairs)
Don’t think I knew photopass couldn’t do Alice because of licensing. She didn’t have a photographer at Epcot once so I did a selfie with her
It wasn't all the fantastic characters but it was usually 12 to 20 characters.
I believe the royalties to Alice's author's estate have since been sorted out
I'm glad Chef Mickey is done. I love my food. And if I have to stop every two minutes to meet a character, I get anxiety. And I get cranky. Then I get HANGRY. Just watch the Sbow White and little girl video where shes eating and Snow White keeps badgering her. Like lady, lemme have my mac and cheese in peace.
I saw the wizard of Oz a week ago and the Scarecrow scared me despite saying he didnt scare anyone to the point where I really put up a scream - And I NEVER ever do that. He was dancing over the edge of the stage and I really thought that he was about to fell over untill I saw that he hold in a handrail. Yea. bad Scarecrow there. But as it was there where several at the theathre who said others that had that seat was scared like me to so I think I am safe.
Makes me wonders if getting scared like that in an audience or at a theme park is a somewhat normal reaction or if I should be embaressed for it? J.
Cool Video, I Never Encountered.... Well I Had One Crazy Story of When I went to Dca The 2nd Time Meeting Characters and Taking Photos with em Which in this Order was I Got to Dance & Get a Photo with Dopey, went on a Ride Met & Got a Photo with Donald, Went on another Ride, Met & Got a Photo with Mickey, Donald Duck Again (Not very Good Lighting) Anna, Elsa, Pluto & Goofy in the Same Area in around a Few Hours Plus Got a Photo with Minnie in a Separate Area in Avengers Campus

Did you ever work with the Hercules characters?
No. outside of seeing Hades in one of the parades I didn't see them in the parks at all.
Why and how were there license problems with characters in the parks?
The Alice characters were still owned by the authors rrust and there was a question of royalties for photos. That has since been sorted out.
Honestly my surprise character meeting was with two characters 1 mrs incredible walt disney and 2 green goblin universel studio so for mrs incredible we we’re just coming out of monsters inc laugh floor and i happen to see a incredibles poster and i go straight into my Edna mode impersonation and i kid you not when I was saying like oh darling you look wonderful blah blah blah she taps me on the shoulder and she gestures like wow I’m impressed keep going and sure enough I do and here’s the best part bob shows up and I look over at him and I say I see you took my advice darling on no capes and man mr I lost it I mean rolling on the floor laughing that was cool then for green goblin I was wearing a green goblin shirt and he asks me you like us bad guys i see so who’s your favorite and I tell him you carnage and venom and man he was so happy that he brought me over to spider man and said hey Peter look i have a fan of me finally man that was so cool
