  • We used to do things at the train robbery that you can't do anymore. Jokes you can't say, actions that are no longer allowed. What's changed over time, and why?
    A behind the scenes look at what a former worker at Disney World, Silver Dollar City, and Busch Gardens Florida experienced in his time working at the parks. From driving large safari trucks around live wild animals while cracking one silly joke after another, to spending 5 years as a #PhotoPass photographer at #WaltDisneyWorld and seeing and experiencing all sorts of things, to being a conductor and #trainrobber on the famous Frisco Silver Dollar Line at #SilverDollarCity. With 10 years of working in the parks, there's lots of stories to tell. Here is some of them...
    Not only did I work in theme parks for 10 years, I've visited a whole lot of them as well. Here's some stories of great visits, not so great visits, favorites, reviews, and much more.

    As someone who's never been to SDC, I appreciate seeing the history and evolution of rides and shows, however difficult they may be. Thanks for walking down memory lane for us!

    I get dumb questions driving a city bus every day. My favorite is "How long is the next bus? I always answered "Same length as this one!"

    Humor is always a changing thing. As the audience changes the humor will need to change. And the bigger the audience the more generic and widely acceptable the humor needs to be. Humor also needs to stay fresh. An old joke will still often bring a smile, but may no longer bring a laugh.
    When Cathy played Ralphie and said "steal all the men" instead of "steal all the women" it brought new life to a joke i've heard countless times.
    Jokes have to be changed and inovated but the pressures of a large and changing audience will always make it a challenge.
    Within another decade humor will change again. Im sure there were jokes from the 70s on the train that went out of fashion in the 80s and 90s, because of changing sensibilities.

    I remember seeing you do the now the original script and I had to return a few minutes later because you had me and my family laughing til I was in tears but It’s so crazy nowadays people gets so easily offended on the least little of things.

    I hope to find someone else up here who watches your channel. No such luck but I'm wearing the shirt to Cedar Point this summer. And yep you just described social media. Everyone being offended and offending everyone else.

    I recently noticed that the train conductor no longer carries a shotgun, and during the speech before you enter the train they no longer say "if you pull the yellow cord and there isn't a medical emergency one with be provided" while they tap their shotgun. That made me sad because it was my favorite joke.

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  22 дні тому

      There are a number of reasons why they don't have the shotgun anymore, from safety issues to equipment and others. But I do miss it.
      but the change of the line at the station I think is one of the modern sensibility reasons

    Was just at silver dollar city on friday and saw probably the funniest and longest train robbery show ever, It started out normal Then the conductor did back up the train/cheering, they Rob us And then they do MA, MA in jail and The lady claims them and the conductor said I QUIT! on the spot. None of them could even remember what day it was, the whole train just laughed

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  16 днів тому

      Happy that you enjoyed a good show! We loved it when we could get the train rolling with us like that. Especially when we could create a bit of magic and have people believing exactly what we wanted them too. hehe

      Goes to show when they include as many parts as they can it makes the show a lot more funny. Then again I've noticed most of the first in the day trains to third trains The show has more parts Then later train ride shows

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  16 днів тому

      A lot of that has to do with sizing up the group on the train as well. If they're not laughing and not into the show, then adding on more isn't going to make it better. It just means more time to lose them. But if you've got a great group, then you bet they want to add more to it. We loved great groups on the trains. But bored or quiet groups? yeah, lets get them out of here so they aren't so miserable.
      hmmm, that might be an idea for a video

    That last bit that's not even scary is a textbook example of an Arson/Murder/Jaywalking joke.
    The humor is driven by a strong list with a very weak last bit.

    Can actors and be entertained or laugh at parts of theyre own shows or does it become boring after doing it 50-100 times?
    Ive seen a few actors who couldnt stoo laughing in parts of the show.

    • @SirWillow

      You find ways to keep it fresh and new, including rotating parts or trying a slightly different take. And we were always finding ways to make each other laugh. But you also get very good at making it seem like you're laughing really hard when you're not necessarily

    Some of those answers are rude. I am not an idiot but can miss a bathroom sign. If you look too hard for something you can look past it.
    I may want to know when the train arrives because i am meeting someone after and want to give them a time to meet me. May be funny because it happens a lot to you, but its their first time.

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  20 днів тому

      *sigh*
      There is a big sign at the entrance to the station that says what time the next train departs, with a large clock.
      The sign alsonsays that rides are about 20 minutes long. It's hard to miss. That's the one we point out to people.
      If someone is in need, very serious, or none sense of humor, we answered straight. And would as well after a few joking responses. In all mybtime there I never once had someone get upset because I wouldn't answer, or was "rude". Not once.
      Might I suggest a humor injection?

    SirWillow, maybe I am not understanding what you said correctly. But consider the fact that a joke about stealing a train full of women with the implication of assault isn’t particularly funny. I don’t necessarily think that is an example of people today looking for things to be offended about. I think maybe we are realizing how horrible some things have actually been through history.

    • @thoughtengine
      @thoughtengine 21 день тому +1

      The joke was about what the recipients were going to do with them, as if they were a whole party of people who wouldn't know what to do with a woman if they had her.
