- I am back with Swahili again but this time its a slang challenge between Tanzania and Kenya. We had so much fun with Samantha guessing the meanings. I can now be able to travel to Kenya knowing a few slangs. Which words didn`t you know?

Beautiful big up to the culture
I love y’all voices. So soft and kind.
Nimekuwa nikijifunza kiswahili kwa miezi minne au mitano na nilipenda sana video hii! ❤ zaidi tafadhali!
Jua kwanza slang
@@naibei_Tvmawaidha mbaya,😂
I absolutely LOVE these two!! Such a vibe and such a clear and true representation of both countries!!!
It is said that the minute Swahili crosses the Kenyan boarders , it summersaults & isotopes itself , because its way too different but we LOVE IT!
"Sonko" is a portmanteau term from English word "source" and a character from Chinua Achebe's book called okonkwo. Yes it can mean a wealthy person but in general it refers to a leader of an organisation.
the book called Okonkwo .maybe you meant things fall apart
Are you 100% sure that's the correct etymology of the sheng use of "Sonko"? Sounds far-fetched to be honest. I've seen another explanation by a language researcher saying it's derived from 'mzungu'
Sonko means rich. It can be taken into context wheb refering to a boss
I am learning Swahili and love this video! Thanks :)
Great video! Please make more of these! Cheers from Brazil!
As a native speaker of Kiswahili - (Yes I am from Burundi and Kiswahili is my first language along with Kirundi), I am completely lost with Sheng! Gosh! where did Kenyans got these words from!
Evolving of language for the ghetto youth who were rebelling from authority.
@@ewm4266 kenya tuko ngori
😂😂😂😂karibu kenya
That kenyan bracelet is our identity
Nice video
look at our lady on her neck what she has
That's what I noticed visiting there, so many people wear that bracelet 😆
My gf gave me one too, so I'm wearing one that features both the French flag and the Kenyan one 😁
Miyayusho!!! 😂😂😂 as a Tanzania that’s the most street Swahili ever!! Which is the same as Kuzingua😅
THIS SWAHILI SLENG,,, PROVES These are just Two Kenyan but one Take Tanzanian side in conversation . But all in all GOOD WORK MY LOVELY 😍SIS❤🔥🔥🔥🇹🇿🇰🇪🇹🇿🇰🇪🌹🌹
Mombasa jero ni mia tano, hiyo ni shang ya Mombasa Nairobi hawaijui
3:40 how does one spell/say that phrase ("I didn't get it/wouldn't have got it")? Is it 'singeipata'?
First of all, let me praise both Doreen & Samantha for how lovely English sounds in their mouths. As lush as their poetic mother tongue of Kiswahili. Most from Britain itself don't speak English with this much fullness and richness and drama.
Am here as a Welsh girl to learn about Kenya, since my mother was raised in Mombasa...though as she was there in the 1970s & 80s, one imagines the slang back then was totally different to now, and she wouldn't understand a word of Sheng! (sadly she never learned fluent Kiswahili, only a strange pidgin half-English version)
Kuomoka - made it in life. Basically, it means you have managed to extricate yourself from a hard life.
Big up to both of you. My Kenyan counterpart, acha kihelehele. Unapeana maana
Great video, I love the content it’s fresh and trendy
Would 'kwasiri' or 'kimya' work in place of 'kuficha (white)'? Or does that ruin the pun if there is one?
WOW!! Very Magnificent queens, To be honest I really love Tz ladies actually Bt I'm a Bondian(KENYAN). Much love anyways
Thank you😇
BONDO Ian🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪, ujaluo itatuuaa😂👊👊👊
Tanzania has very good swairi
Hii ya Tz ni kinyamwezi sii slang
Yoo this was fun watching...
Nice video. I am South African would love to learn Swahili.
Swahili started in Kenya coastal region in pate island
No, TZ
@@coyoluo It started in Kenyan coast.
@@derrickmutuma7185 swahili is accumulations of vocabulary from bantu tribes many of them from Tanzania
@@mcback4384 It's every bantu language in the region.
@@derrickmutuma7185 mostly from Tanzania the epicenter of swahili that's why swahili is so spread to all countries neighboring Tanzania but not all countries neighboring Kenya
Hongereni sana. Kiswahili to the world🎉🎉
Kenyan lady so beautiful beautiful I say🤣🤣
you both sound kenyan to me, love from 🇹🇿
Nairobian
its because they are all fluent in English and Also Swahili
that combination brings out the "nairobian accent"
The same way as i saw
*Tanzanian Swahili is so conc Ii yetu ya Kenya is so simple.*
Got the vibes , had to hit the subscribe 🔔
Sheng is like a language on its own the younger generation mixes up with Swahili..older generation waulize hii watapotea kabisa
Big up sana, I enjoyed the video
Unapeana leakage sana. Empress was Bongo hashikanishi rada, mpeleke na ryeng polepole.
Nakumis ndio nakuangalia?🤣🤣🤣🤣jmn kiswahili wachieni wa tz

This was fun... First time watching this show. Though Doreen was right Dunda is dancing that's how rave came about it. Tz slang is harder
Dunda is partying, Dancing is Banjuka or Rombosa
@@champe_ke2394 actually days of Esir where dunda came from it meant to dance so by the time mejja came out with song dundayn become going clubbing... Square root ndio I was addressing
i think I would agree with you I am from tanzania and I am only 9 I don't know most of the slang

You should hun!! you actually enjoy it, you forget you are making content.
Hiyo ni misemo sio kishwahili sanifu , Yaani hata Mtanzania au mkenya wa kawaida hawezi elewa haswa kwa watu wazima , vijana na wahuhuni wahuni ndo wanaweza kuelewa
UG swahili absolutely has no slang
but I closely identify with Kenya 🇰🇪 than Tanzania 🇹🇿
What's things beauty language people from two different countries the same language but use different words it's only logical it happens for centuries.
Tembea TZ na kamusi .... Hizo slang zao nikama methali ...mi naeza genyea Dodoma nkiulizia direction....

'Tei 'is a corruption of the swahili word 'Tembo' meaning alcholol
Good job guys
Good vibes ...tz sheng is mostly spoken in Mombasa....even those living in Mombasa get it hard to understand kanairo sheng..cool kids in Westland will never understand this ghetto language mostly originating from "1960"...Tz tunawalombotove...sheng is a language that changes very fast making it unreliable
Hallo Doreen! Supper proud of you.
Hello Steve, Hope you are well. Thank youuu😇😇.
Ukusema chafu tatu ukiwa hotelini kenya inamaanisha ukatiwe chapati au mandazi alafu yachanganywe na supu
I will try to say these at the hotel nikienda Kenya, nione hicho chakula kinafananaje. Thank you for the suggestion.
Tunasemanga chafua tatu ndio ikuje na supu kibao
Monchoka and muok means the same
I enjoyed this being a Kenyan in Tanzania alafu this new sheng ya genje 🤪🥴🥴is hard ghaii
Kenya we don't use Swahili but sheng
As a kenyan i don't use sheng i speak clean swahili , clean english and clean luo but i understand some sheng.
