    Here in Southern California Indian dinner for 4 (2 teen boys , mom/dad) is $85!!! That's 2 orders of butter chicken ( my family's fave) , 1 order of bangain bhartha , and 1 order of saag. Its just crazy expensive these days! Thank u for the recipe!

    Flo, if you are using an entire can of tomato paste, open both ends of the can with a standard can opener then push the past out with the cut lid. It is SO easy.

    I love butter chicken, I've had sauces from different places and it's my favourite, so I ordered it in an Indian restaurant, it was so very sweet! I complained, to be told that's how it's cooked, I told them that of all the butter chicken meals I've had, not one has been sweet! I can only assume that it's made with sugar in their region but, not anywhere else!

    • @tarapearce544
      @tarapearce544 13 днів тому

      That's actually my favorite kind, with some sweetness. I have had so many different "butter chicken" sauces, some with saffron, some sweet, some more acidic, some that almost taste like tomato soup, some thick, some thin... When I make it at home in a rush, I use the VH sauce (best of the options in my area, which are few) and I add coconut milk or creamed coconut (not coconut cream) to make it creamier and a little sweeter. Flo's recipe seems very similar to the jar I use and probably a lot better, I will try it next time I make butter chicken!

    What a fantastic idea using your mallet to break the garlic !
    Also if you're going to cook more indian food in the future , consider making a ginger garlic paste at home. It's super easy , you just need the proportion of ginger and garlic that you like and blend it with a bit of oil of your choice. Stays in the fridge for a month or so 😊 just make sure that the amount of oil that you use covers the ginger garlic paste when it's settled in the storage jar.
    Lovely recipe! Love your channel.. 😊

    It won't break the bank to do it, I recommend folks visit an Indian meat shop. They usually have pre marinated chicken for butter chicken among many other options. I find their prices a lot better than grocery chains too. Especially lamb prices.

    Hi Flo, I have a question. I was reading an article that you can grate your garlic rather than using a garlic press. So I see you mince the garlic with a knife, but use a grater for the ginger. Is there a difference between grating and using a knife to mince?

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  14 днів тому +1

      I like using the grater for ginger because it gets it finer and is more shredded than chopping, for me. I find the grater gets the garlic too fine for this recipe and I don’t want the garlic to burn. Plus there were 6 cloves and I can chop faster than grating. Depending on the recipe, sometimes I will grate the garlic along with the ginger. I’m all about less work! 😉

    I just found this channel. I'm only a little late (9 and a half years). Now the thing is I don't want to watch old videos. It's similar to eating a 3 day old TV dinner leftovers or combining spam, tofu, and something green all together and calling it a meal for a loved one. So I'm going to have to request that you redo all of your past videos so I am not subject to the feeling of a frozen sponge leftover. I only like fresh meals and video recipes served up. After all, I just sat down and found your channel/home and you don't want to give me leftovers do you? It might sound like a selfish request but I hear practice makes perfect + new views.
