Logan and Hayden's personality and styles clashed so perfectly I remember back in those days that I was impressed with the film making and editing and the better they both got the more it felt like a movie
I love Hayden. I followed lots of his critiquing skills to edit my videos. It helped me gain over a million followers across socials. I film everything with my phone too. I started seriously posting on youtube in october and gain over 300k in 5 months time. Storytelling is so OP.
I've been following Hayden and his editing podcast too, he is amazing. You're such an excellent editor, educator and storyteller too! Thank you very much!
This is the FIRST time that I feel like I understand who Hillier-Smith is. You did such a great job of bringing it out. I guess it helps that you two are friends! cheers.
Love this. My channel went viral for a bit and now I have to keep pushing and making new videos. After helping creatives achieve their creative visions for the last 15 years in Hollywood now I get to be a storyteller. This is such a dream come true and I’m always learning, so thank you for this video. It was so helpful! ❤❤
So glad to hear! Excited to check out your channel and if I can ever be helpful, I started a creators Discord community with 1,700 creators in it where we're all helping each other grow, keeping up to date with algo changes, etc. Would love for you to join if interested: discord.gg/created
Just sitting here drinking coffee on a Tuesday morning watching your interviews getting inspired and learning so much! Your channel is one of my favorites!
You ask all the right questions and so good at moving the conversation forward. This was really insightful and pleasant to watch the full way through. Thanks Jon.
Awesome interview and such a interesting perspective. Really enjoyed seeing his influence on arguably the most influential social media star during his peak of YT. Appreciate his work because it certainly brought laughter and smiles to myself and many during a dark time in the world.
I love how much credit and respect he gives Logan when Logan usually gets hate online. You can tell by everyone that has spent years with working for him that they all have a huge amount of respect for him. That tells the true story of the kind of person he is.
Such a good video, edit and entertaining. Hayden Hillier-Smith changed so so much my edit style and rhythm in my stories. Thanks for this episode. Love it
Thank you Jon and Hayden for this insightful video. I've got extremely good story content and I just haven't been able to build what we need to get it out there. Editing (and some related production) is my main barrier. (Well heck, my main barrier is that I haven't had time to lead this project.) In any case, I'd be highly interested in an event/mastermind/course or some such where we focused our brains on improving our stories for the UA-cam platform.
Loved this video. First time coming across your channel Jon & first time learning of Hayden, but couldn't get enough of it! About to binge on you both.
Loving this content! As a small creator who has been full time artist/designer for years, UA-cam as been a new journey but I’ve been passionate with video content since high school and this is inspiring to help level of my content thank you
Such a gold mine of tips, Jon. I loved the choice of topics and questions. I actually doubted I could get a lot out of the video at the beginning that could be valuable for me, but insteaf you managed to keep me glued to the screen. Btw I absolutely love how you write the main concepts on the screen during the talk. And Hayden... I just wish I would be able to afford him ahahah.... he's really a great editor! Wonderfully done!
Thanks Rick! Means alot to hear that with all the work that goes into these videos 🙏 btw I’d love to have you join our Discord community of creators if you’re interested? That was great… I’ve been dreaming of having something like this for Latin America, So many talented people most of them self taught and they just DONT even begin to imagine that this is a way to make a living as the creator economy gets bigger and bigger
I love Hayden! He always delivers such interesting and useful information and most of all... he's an incredible editor...and a really nice guy. Great interview Jon - thank you 👍👏
Anytime Noam 🙏 appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. Also would love to have you join my Discord community if you’re interested? We have over 1,700 creators in there helping each other out and I’m super active in there as well: discord.gg/created
What a great interview! Loved the line of questions Jon, it was such a nice BTS look at the creator + editor relationship. 👏🏼🎉 On a different note, it’s driving me crazy trying to figure out how you are creating the karaoke captions. Do you duplicate the track, change color to mint, then reveal the mint on? All in Premiere/FCP? Please clue us in, I bet I’m not the only one!
I liked the question about "you didnt want recognition as the editor?" Because I've been an editor on UA-cam for about as long as Hayden. You've never heard of me, you'll never be able to guess who ive worked with or what I've achieved. But I've been on this platform since 2009, and been earning a living here since 2017 building channels for people from zero to hundreds of millions of views. If I wanted to be popular, I would have been. but I dont want attention. Why would I want to be famous, when I can be the king maker and live in silence?

Really great interview - highly appreciated. Never imagined that H.H. Smith still gets the biggest chunk of his income as an editor - nice/humbling.
yeah amazing to see how he's always practicing his craft, not just preaching it. Probably a big reason why he's so good 🔥
