I've been watching you for 4 years, shooting more consistently for 3 years and finally feel I have a body of work strong enough to do some of the things you mentioned to make money at what I'm great at. Thanks for all the helpful tips over the years!
I like how you brought up the influencers topic because I myself have gone through it where the influencer swears their beyond you and they don’t pay because your shooting them .. yet their buying bottles on their instagram stories but when you ask for 150$ for a shoot that’s too much. People now just want to take advantage and I appreciate this because I have to feed myself and my family and I take time on my craft
terms of services. I the photographer is providing these services for these many hours/pictures with this client. The price for this package/shoot is this.......
I’m not much of a portrait photographer. I have to take passport pictures at my full time job and all I hear all day long is “I look so ugly”. And I know it’s just them being hard on themselves but it also brings me down. I’ve been doing landscape and nature photography for about 6 years as a hobby. I post them on social media and get so many comments about how pretty they would look as canvas wall art. The issue is that getting them professionally done on canvases can be really pricey. I’ve tried selling them as stock photos for years and no luck.
Thanks bae. I’ve got my first free photo shoot with I’m doing in one week. Went to a local telegram group I’m apart of & posted I’m looking for experience and snagged 2 people to practice off of for free. Movin up!
Airbnb experiences is great, but there is a 20% fee which is a bit of a bummer. Clients are usually pretty nice and understanding though, and, if they're not travelling from far, they might book again through you personally or recommend your work to friends!
@@OkayHobbs You don't sign up as a photographer per se, you have to sign up through airbnb to be a host, and then list a photography experience. I'd recommend looking through the photography experiences in your area to see what other are offering and how you can stand out. They do have a couple requirements but overall it's pretty easy :)
Can always go the contractor route, where you build a portfolio and apply for a company, what’s good about this is they find your clients and send you jobs, yes you’ll make less money per shoot, but you don’t have to worry about finding clients. They send you the details you shoot and turn the photos in. You could have 8 different contracts from weddings to real estate. They handle all the customer service side of it. They have sells teams who can pitch for you, also the owners of the company usually know nothing about photography, so if you have even a half way decent portfolio they’ll contract you.
Re: Freelancing, I would stray away from weddings. Yes the money is easy and quick but it's a high stress environment, fast-paced and highly competitive. If photography is your passion, you will burn out doing wedding photography. Try to branch out as much as possible. Shoot models, animals, landscapes, architecture, automobiles, etc. Make your shoots fun, not a chore. Don't get trapped into only making money. There's a balance between hustling and keeping your passion alive.
I mean it depends. I am a wedding photographer and I LOVE weddings, it drives me to be better and excel in times of stress. But I am not overworking myself shooting 50+ weddings a year though!
@@Jesterisim it depends of you really. Usually I am shooting around 20 weddings a year when there's no COVID, mostly between june & october. I'm from Quebec Canada so there is a dead season for weddings (in the winter) so when the season arrives I am pumped and read y :) But it's not for everybody and if you don't like shooting weddings it's really hard doing it.

Never too late! 💕👍💕👍thank you for this.. I'm so happy that I have found you! Where did tou learn how to shoot photos? I started yt channel as my passion is cooking, fall in love with filming! I'm not sure if I would like to be a photographer yet I would love to get into that field to get some experience! Anyway!! I gotta check out to see if you have some camera tutorials!
Nice video. I'm into year two of being professional. It's tough cause it seems like you can throw a rock and hit a photographer lol. I'm trying work my way to get into commercial fashion but I don't know if it will happen living in a small town. Just keep grinding. It takes time.
Wow! thank you for this video. You brought up a lot of options that I hadn't thought about and didn't even know about like the paid testing! Appreciate all your videos, but this one was especially helpful
Thank you 🙏🏼 for this video and for it being straight forward❤️your the best. I been trying to get better and educated my self more before I start my own photography job :) I want to be astonishing work. But so far I have already had two clients yay 😁
I know you mentioned stock photography, but have you ever tried to sell your photos online on stock sites? They are super picky when it comes to what they are looking for, and will reject a lot of images because they already have way too many images of that item/scene. I have never had any success when it came to stock.
Great video! Thank you for advices! :) (I'd like to see more of photoshoot - photography - photo advices - Your work related content on Your channel and not just reactions videos. Ok not just, but they dominate lately. Your phhotography work is amazing.)
Whats the first type of camera you had? I have a canon EOS M50 but I feel like I cant capture sharp enough images to try to make a business and start doing mini sessions but I know I would be so good and loveeee boosting peoples self esteem while photographing them. Alsooooo THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO. A lot of successful people don't bother helping people start who are where they started but here you are with a detailed video.
Great video Jess!! I needed this today :) Would you (or anyone in the comments) be able to help me understand how we can protect our work and images from being stolen or used without our discretion? How will you know if/when someone has stolen or used your image? Something I worry about at times and it holds me back from simply sharing on socials or updating portfolio.
Like the whole licensing and lawyer thing I need that but for like drawing and stuff … or are they similar enough that they can also help…. This sounds cool…. Like good stuff to know…
What camera should I buy if I'm a starter and want good quality photos but also cheap? What camera is good for that and have you made a video on it before?
Hello Jessica, I've tried to take a picture in the mirror while the external flash is on. The flash fired off, but in the picture the flash seems to have no light at all?
I have a couple questions! I'm wanting to do something a bit different. I want to do equine photography but I'm more interested in just photographing shows when I can as a hobby and selling the photo packs of each team where the money will be donated to a local equine rescue. Also posting things to social media as well. Do you happen to have any idea if I'd need a contract for that? Or model release forms to post on social media or would it be considered a public thing so no release needed? How do you go about displaying photo packs for people to see and then setting it up so people can buy the pack and download the images? Especially for sets that may include a kid how do you go about ensuring you're selling those safely (as in to the actual family not to some weird rando)?
Exactly, I did a wedding session two years ago for free, and I did a newborn/presentation events/a Senior session last year for free too as a favor to people who I am close too. Long story short I am still waiting to get my first paid client.
go out and shoot free ones more, and post them weekly. people will take notice, dont give up. it gets hard right before you break the sealing and you're having an abundant amount of clients.
I live in LA LOL and I'm not doing those campaigns. The city is very saturated and everyone with a camera takes pictures. The worst is that there are photographers that will shoot a wedding for $250. Like how ??? How do you live in LA ? And now that the new iphone came out , I am positive that there will be more people doing "professional photography"
because they can't stand out from the market. Only when you are starting is that an okay price. like the first wedding sure but after that you gotta at least make minimum wage, which is 10 hours of editing and 10 hours of taking pictures. so at least 450.
Ima tell y’all this… just keep working and as people see your skill you’ll get customers soon,. It took me 3-4 years to get my first client and now I’m still barley getting any clients and the fault is my own… I get people to ask me to shoot for them and I’m too scared to shoot cuz I’m a perfectionist and that’s why I always say no! In the past few months I said no to like 6 different opportunities but recently I have been getting into it more and people and very grateful for what I do… and maybe cuz my prices are way too low!
