You’re providing a service for them even at $100 you are giving them a great deal compared to most in the example of senior pictures. Photography is a skill and I think we can agree are equipment and skill is worth a lot.
Even if you dont feel like charging $100 then charge $20, $50, $70 it doesn’t matter (if you’re not supporting yourself on your own that is) never charge free, but also don’t do as much as you would if you were charging $100 (example: shooting for 6 hours and editing/retouching 50 photos for people) its a decent way to charge and start increasing from there

The Bliss Bean: "So you're a teen who wants to start a photography business" Me a 24 year old who is debating going back to school for art: "absolutely yes that is me 🙂”
24 years old, and I’m in the same boat too! I’m going back to community college to take some courses and am looking into starting my business in real estate photography :-)
Just dropping in an update here :-). I just took photos of my friend's and family's house to post on a business Facebook Page and established prices with some market research. I did some cold calling for some pro-bono photos today and am aiming for at least 5 houses to make a presentation for real estate agents. I had 4 people who agreed for my services and I am so excited! Honestly, I'm a little ashamed that my services have to start out for free because I think the photos I took turned out pretty good. But I hope to get in some repeat clients and good reviews to get started!
I started with photography in my last year of elementary school and I made money in Middle school and I got more and more clients. I think it is really important to get some sort of education (not only online) even if it's just a summer camp or a workshop, professional artists can help you and also let you know if your price is a good price for what you do because a lot of people think they are better than they actually are. I'm in art school (photography and film) for 2 year now and I learned a lot more.
I spend A LOT of time learning on UA-cam. This is by far the most useful and informative video I've ever seen on the subject. You really have a talent, not only for developing your business's, but actual teaching and organizing material in a useful way. You should consider making a proper course for SkillShare or something like that. Amazing work!!! Thanks!
@@EstablishedHeritage the phography courses were all for beginners. Didn't learn anything. Might be better for other subjects/beginners. Free trials available all the time so worth looking.
I decided during my senior year that I would like to do photography. I did a lot of learning & research, but when it came time to put that into action, I froze. I started doubting & let fear keep me from trying. I’m 19 now, and I think I’m gonna give it another shot (no pun intended😂). You reminded me that it doesn’t have to be over complicated & that simply starting is the key :)
i literally cannot express how grateful i am for this video. i don’t think anyone has come close to lending this much advice in any of the the videos i’ve watched & i feel so much more confident now to go and get started :)
This is the most helpful business advice video I've ever seen - thank you for sharing these tips! You're so mature, organised and talented it is insane!
I started with a similar setup and finally upgraded to a Nikon Z6. It was well worth the price. The autofocus makes my job so much easier and the photos come out more vibrant. Although the camera doesn’t make the photographer, it can make things a lot easier. Now, I come back from shoots with far less blurry images and can use the screen as a viewfinder which helps me get a fuller view of things. The camera also has amazing autofocus so if you did get it, it would double as a great video camera. The video feature is great for taking self portrait since you can film and pose, then take stills. I’m realizing now this sounds like a Nikon ad, but in all honesty I’m just so grateful for my camera upgrade and how much easier it makes my job!
I totally agree with you for the presets part, the way i like to use them is that if i see a photo from another photographer with a specific color that i really like but i dont know how i can edit my photo so i can take a similar result i just buy their presets and i am observe their settings and i am keeping the settings i believe that can help me improve my skills without copying them or something
This is so wonderful. I don’t even know you but I am so proud of you. Such a great work ethic and drive!!! I wish I would have had this mentality in high school. Thank you sharing, keep it up. Definitely going to subscribe and share 👍
Oh my gosh Beatričė I would never even think of paying you less just because we’re friends. You are providing me with a high quality good/service that deserves to be paid for! Congratulations, you've done more before 20 than most people do their whole lives when it comes to starting a business. I'm getting ready to retire, won't say how old I am but my youngest kid is older than you. I've always loved photography and was thinking of doing it for a living after I retire. I've been watching a lot of video's on how to get started, yours is one of the better ones. Thanks for the great advice.

you have no idea how helpful this was!!! i've been doing sports photography for two years now, but have found a love for portraiture and would like to take it to the next level. this video is exactly what i was looking for and needed. thank you so so much!
Omg, i wish i could live in a developed country :( if I charge 99 dollars here, no one would come, it's too pricey. 50 dollars maybe, but never 99 for just a photoshoot and editing. Different worlds I guess. Btw, loved the video
I truly love the transparency behind everything you said. You went into great detail about what you do, how you do it, and the tools you use. This has been so helpful! I really appreciate it. I learned many things I never thought about before especially when you were talking about your workflow.
Are there any videos that helped you improve your photography? Could you do a video on tips and tricks to improve your photography skills. Loved this video really helpful💕
Oh my gosh, I LOVE this video! You are so so sooo smart. I'm 24, and have been shooting photos for almost ten years now, and I cannot even tell you how many little tips and tricks I learned from you just now. I appreciate this so much!!
Thank you for this! This helped me so much. I’m a freshman in high school and I want to be the photographer at school that everyone knows to go to! I already have an Instagram, have been doing photography for about two years but just started my business. I’m only on my 2nd practice shoot, out of 5, but since it’s summer......I’ll have so much time and hopefully a lot of people will be interested! Thanks for all the information!! I’m starting out pricing low because I want people to know I can do good work before I charge a ton and they don’t like what I did.
Wow. I’m 24 years old and getting started with photography and found this extremely helpful. Even down to the workflow because that’s mostly what I needed tips on. I have loads of projects that I started on in 2019/2020 with my friends and in and I work full time and wasn’t sure how to organize myself or how to get photos out to my peeps in organized fashion and not in the next month lol. I wanted to master this before I started looking for clients so that way I am more professional with it. Thank you so much for this !!!

I just love how positive you are! Keep up the good work! The information you give is so helpful even for people who are already on the photography business!
My friends are also amateur photographers and we double as each other's models, so I definitely can't charge them. Even if I did, then they'd charge me too so there would be literally zero profit lol

Hi Beatrice. Thanks so much for this video. I am a middle school photography teacher and this video is my new "go to" for the week that we do about what it is like to have a photography business. My students love the video and you provide so much valuable information. You are so relatable so they can see themselves doing this "for real", but they also see that it is hard work and takes organization, planning, and photography skills. Thanks for being awesome!
THANK YOU!!! i’ve been doing photography as a hobby for a couple years now and my instagram page is growing so more people are asking to do shoots but I didn’t know how to charge!! thank youu
I have always loved taking photos and capturing moments but never thought i could turn that into a job. I get statements all the time from friends and family telling me i should become a photographer because they love the pictures i take with just my iPhone 11 and with very basic editing. So that’s why Im here. this video was sooo informative, well planned, and organized. Thank you!
This is so helpful not just for teenagers but for anyone wanting to enter the field! Thank you for being super detailed and clear about how you do it. I definitely learned a lot!
Wow, this is the most comprehensive, most HELPFUL video I have ever watched about starting a photography business! Thank you so much!!! @@TheBlissBean using a micro sd card is mostly used for like smartphones and such. So yup, I prefer you get yourself an sd card that's built for dslrs and not those with the micro sd adapters
Can't thank you enough for such a detailed video.
This is amazing information. You’re providing valuable content that literally tops a lot of photography/ videography classes that are overpriced. Mark my words you’re going far 👍🏽
I feel like I’m learning more about the photo-business aspect from this video than I would in school
you have no idea how helpful this was!!! i've been doing sports photography for two years now, but have found a love for portraiture and would like to take it to the next level. this video is exactly what i was looking for and needed. thank you so so much!
Omg, i wish i could live in a developed country :( if I charge 99 dollars here, no one would come, it's too pricey. 50 dollars maybe, but never 99 for just a photoshoot and editing. Different worlds I guess. Btw, loved the video
:((
Arantza M yeah i feel that, growing up somewhere rough, theres no way to be able to charge a good amount
girl ..they will not even pay me 20 dollars ..like i'm gonna do.
This is BY FAR the most informative video I've seen about starting a photography business! Thanks so much for sharing, so inspiring!!
You did this video so well and the information is so useful 👏🏾👏🏾
Oh my gosh, I LOVE this video! You are so so sooo smart. I'm 24, and have been shooting photos for almost ten years now, and I cannot even tell you how many little tips and tricks I learned from you just now. I appreciate this so much!!
thank you so much this video help me realize that my photography business can be a reality.
Thank you for making this video 💖 It's hard to find people who explain the process in detail like you did so I truly appreciate it!
That’s so cool! How have you been doing photo shoots while maintaining social distancing?
This is hella relatable 😂 good stuff dude keep up the good work!
I use to be a model and now I am on the other side of the camera. I am loving it and thank you for all the tips you share.
This video was so thorough and thoughtful! Thank you for the dedication put into making this SUCH an informative video. I recently got a camera and watching this made me excited for future possibilities! Definitely subscribing! ❤ It is inspiring to see that you did this at such a young age
I'm excited that you're excited, hahaha! Best of luck 🤗
This was/is 🔥🔥🔥 Teens and aspiring folks need to know ALL of these topics you shared from your perspective. I especially loved your comments about ZERO friend discounts. Know Your Worth = TRUTH! 💓

we stan a gal who knows the worth of her creative work!!
That was SO helpful and I feel the SAME way about the whole preset thing :\
This was sooooo helpful and I’m not even a teenager. Definitely will pass this on to fellow upcoming photographers!! I’m a official subscriber !
oo girl i see that love yourself poster in the back 👀 u gonna go to their tour?
Thank god I came across your channel. Every point answers every question of mine. Been doing photography for the 2 years now but never considered going full foot down with it. However, I think now I'm ready and your video, definitely helped! So... a massive thank you!
I charged $40 😭 I didn’t know I could charge it almost to $100
How don’t you have over 100k subs!? You’re so concise, and detailed oriented. You got straight to the point and saved me so much time!
I felt like it was me who was talking 😂 cuz definitely this is my story too I am 17 now and I started my career when I was 15....and also you are doing a great job❤❤❤
this is probably the most indepth and genuinely helpful resource ive found and ive been researching how to start my business for months so thank you and hopefully now i can actually get it up and running soon!
Me: Army💜/ wants to get into photography.
Received good advice, noticed ‘Love Yourself’ poster, Subscribed👆🏾🔔💜
I’m doing the same thing and we literally had the same method of setting up the business! You had some really good ideas with the low res photos to the client to see which ones they like, time saver!! And I also like the idea with constantly updating the website for a more professional feel! Awesome video and I’ll be subscribing!!
I love this video! I am trying to improve in photography, can you make a video with your tips?💙
I just love how positive you are! Keep up the good work! The information you give is so helpful even for people who are already on the photography business!
This vid made me do all I liked it subscribe, shared it to my friends and commented on it 😂 lol. Thanks again...
Literally so helpful! Ive spent like two years looking at photo business videos and this is definitely the best Ive watched
My friends are also amateur photographers and we double as each other's models, so I definitely can't charge them. Even if I did, then they'd charge me too so there would be literally zero profit lol
This is by far the best and most helpful video I’ve come across of just the process of becoming a pro photographer. Thank you so much for all this wonderful information!!
when the clock switched to 10:17 at the exact same time that she said two and held her fingers up 😳😂
I don't usually comment on UA-cam videos, but your video compelled me to do so. This is hands down the best guide ever for starting out a photography business. Thank you so much for putting out such valuable content, and I wish you all the best!
Ok, I LOVE this, and her.
But now I love everything 100x more!
Does anybody else see the BTS poster behind her??😍❤❤🙃🔥
Hi Beatrice.
My problem is getting my work out there 😔
THANK YOU!!! i’ve been doing photography as a hobby for a couple years now and my instagram page is growing so more people are asking to do shoots but I didn’t know how to charge!! thank youu
I don't think I'd ever have enough confidence to be able to start a business, shooting people's portraits.
I’m 29 and learned so much from this so thank you miss lady for sharing your experience
7 minutes in and then i saw the BTS poster and was like OMG SHES an army!! 😂😭
I’m 22 and have done photography on the side for a couple years and this was SO HELPFUL! Thank you! You’re amazing-I just subscribed!
I can say that this got me motivated to get a little seriously now with my photography thank you.😊
Instagram: @Vas era
I have been wanting to start a career as a photographer but never knew where to start from, this was very helpful and my questions were answered.
I was sorta distracted watching when the clock in the background would change time
I have always loved taking photos and capturing moments but never thought i could turn that into a job. I get statements all the time from friends and family telling me i should become a photographer because they love the pictures i take with just my iPhone 11 and with very basic editing. So that’s why Im here. this video was sooo informative, well planned, and organized. Thank you!
oh hey, i didnt see you there 😂XD IM DEAD
This is so helpful not just for teenagers but for anyone wanting to enter the field! Thank you for being super detailed and clear about how you do it. I definitely learned a lot!
You remind me of Rory Gilmore
Wow, this is the most comprehensive, most HELPFUL video I have ever watched about starting a photography business! Thank you so much!!! I kind of accidentally started one years ago when people started asking me to do photos for them, I learned a LOT about it, but now that I haven't done it for about 3 or 4 years I'm so scared to get started again!! I just need to push through that, though. This helped so much with that, so THANK YOUUUUUU!
