竹箭製作從採竹、殺青、乾燥、拉直......工序非常繁複，箭竹的拉直作業是個人認為最難的部分，多次把竹條給扯斷，竹子需要半年至一年充分的乾燥，在來製做是最好。
市面上也有進口的茶桿竹可購買，可省去最困難的步驟。
箭羽使用鵝毛，本次購買到的鵝毛質量並不好，這次就先湊合著使用，以後可試著找尋品質更好的毛來製箭。

Hello again, glad to see your staying on the archery theme.! To make make yourself a hand held arrow straightener, get a piece a wood around the size of a hammer handle, then drill a hole slightly wider than your arrows 5/8 plus?, at 45 degrees about 3 inches from the end of your wood. Put your heated bamboo shaft through the hole, and straighten as you did in the vice. Easy to hold it up to,your line of sight!

@@LadynimajnebrmLord Taiwan produces bamboo, and we are also very good at Meng Zongzhu and Guizhou. The black bamboo in the film is carbonised by high pressure.

For quickly sanding the nodes, I mounted sanding disc paper to two opposing thin round plastic ice cream container lids with the rims cut off. I bolt them together with a screw with some washers between the discs as spacers. I chuck this in a drill press or another drill, and chuck the shaft in a cordless drill. I spin the shaft while slipping it between the spinning discs. The discs are flexible enough to slip the shaft in between them easily. You can support the other end with a gloved hand. I have found that the nodes don't have to be sanded all the way down. The arrow will still shoot and fly perfectly. Also, 2 hacksaw blades taped together is just about perfect for the string grove.

I have to say this young man's arrows that he fashioned and put together turned out to be fairly good Quality. There was a Lot of Time and Effort put into producing these arrows, the steaming, straightening, grinding, shaving and sanding was all necessary because of the Bamboo Shafts needed a lot of Modifying to get the arrow quality up to satisfaction. He went through so many stages of production some which were quite complex, to finally produce the finished Arrows. Some of the work He did to form these Arrows had to be developed through Trial and Error over a long period of time. One has to watch this Video at least two times to really appreciate the complexity needed to produce the finished product.

I would like to come back to Taiwan and commission 4 dozen handmade arrows. Taiwan is one of the best countries in the world. It is a free and open democracy - the diamond in Asia, old world crafts always amazes me. Everyone is highly skilled - suits, shoes, shirts making. Now arrows.
Glad you like Taiwan, there are very enthusiastic people in Taiwan. I don't sell bamboo arrows anymore. I don't have the pipeline to get stable bamboo arrows. This is very important for the quality and stability of the arrow. There are currently orders for bamboo bows.

I recently started making my own Arrows, not up to your standards yet but i will keep trying. My Fletching is decent but the shafts need more work. full Wood arrows though, i will try Bamboo as we have bunch up the road from me. (UK).

Thanks, I watched the Bhutanese bow and arrow video, it seems not difficult and efficient. But bamboo can only use local special bamboo. Bamboo needs to be very thick. I may have to see whether Taiwanese bamboo is suitable for use.
@@woodenren in Indonesia, we're using dendrocalamus asper or to make it simple is giant bamboo for making our traditional bows and arrows. For us it is one of the most ideal material for making bows because of its strong durability and it's good flexibility. You can find this bamboo easily because it grows throughout East Asia as well.
