Don’t settle for the minimum training. Do it because you love it. Get as much training as possible. You may not get paid for most of the training you get. It’s not about that. It’s about you being the best in your field because your community deserves that. These people deserve that. Save lives. That’s your job. Don’t be lazy. Don’t stop learning. Every person you respond to has someone who loves them and their world will be turned upside down if something happens to them. Imagine it’s someone you love and care about. What level of care would you want for them?
Brother, I love this channel and your advice is spot on spectacular! I heard on another EMS podcast recently that regardless of how many years you’ve been on the job that when you put your uniform on and you go in service, you should feel really like you’re an imposter. Like you don’t know know everything. Like you should be a perpetual student. so I just thought I would hope to add to the discussion with some senior medics that just said that recently. keep on with your awesome channel and you’re much appreciated advice. Stay safe out there, man.!!!!
Like yourself, there are a lot of great people working in EMS. Like the days of old, there are still some old grizzly, cynical types around that have a bedside demeanour of a porcupine (you sort of inferred that in this video) and view patients as a hinderance to their day. Especially since the pandemic period there has been a ‘creep’ into EMS to vet patients to ease pressures on emergency departments. While that role of vetting is somewhat valid it has made the word ‘Service’ in EMS null. The moment most people call EMS it is the most important issue to them at that moment. ‘Emergency Medical’ is the type of ‘Service’ individuals in craft are meant to provide. Not patient criticism. 😊
Community services 'hires' many whom work for themselves and pay rach other to make communities a nicer place for sick people eho might get dick and many have a shortage of balanceing nutritions. . . Dont let it wear you down and have a parachute so you can hand it over and walk away if you become overwhelmed. Life is chaotic sometimes and if all you see is the struggles you might want to look away for a while. In your circle of friends you will find times when your experience flows. . . Put yourself in your patience place. Pretty soon GPS will have s map of every road and tunnel for real where batman type stuff maps are fun to study where are we going to put all of this data. . . It is interesting that organization and patterns are seen as people slip into sesure and comma: while 'caodic' looking brainwaves are a sighn of an awakened and alert and healthier brain..
Love the introduction suggestion, my background is Fire/EMT in Europe I also teach first aid and spend time explaining this to any of my classes. This patient or patients are sometimes having their worst day when we meet them, we need to make them understand that we are there to help and to advocate for them. I've had Paramedics look at me like I have two heads sometimes because I'm explaining to the patient the step by step process of an extrication, packaging and then whats exactly going to happen in the back of the Ambulance. 👌
@@SkinnyMedic thank you, I have a question. I was doing a drill a couple weeks ago on a truck mci. I was the triage officer in the drill and I didn't know what diaphoretic meant. when the proctor said he was normal, I wasn't able to read the different signs between a heart attack and internal shock. Do you have any tips on telling the differences quickly? Either way he was placed as red but none-the-less I feel like in a real scenario things could have gone worse if the emts thought they were dealing with internal trauma when there was a heart failure issue.
Great video. How common is jab requirements these days? The schools and jobs I have been looking into for emt recertification all seem to require it. I was certified years ago and never came across any such requirements. Thank you!
If youre not willing to get the clot shot, youre pretty much screwed as far as doing anything in medicine as a career. It sucks. But its much more important to do what is right and stick to your convictions and God....not beeg parma (purposefully misspelled to avoide autodelete).

Thank you for the video, your channel helped me provide quality first aid. Hello from Ukraine.
Thank you for the support!
My advice: don’t be a douche to new ems people. You are just a paramedic, not a doctor, or a god.
Yes! Always remember where you came from!
Doctor arrogance is still the worst!
You're a great man, Skinny. I hope everyone interested in becoming an EMT sees this video.
Thank you!!!!!
Bro is not so skinny anymore! I’ve been watching since I was 13 I’m 19 now
hahahaha
Dang it man 😂
@@brandonrowland2168 I’m getting old 😔

Get some.
Thank you all for your service, a lot of what you said can apply to everything we do. Good advice for all
For the algorithms
Thank you!!!!
I just finished school in december. Nremt. It's useless to me.the security job that had me get it fired me.
I am not emt material.
So what can I do?
You can drive medical transport, usually from old-age homes to Dr appts or hospital. Don’t waste the cert you earned.
Find a job working at a race track or something like that which does sporadic emergencies just to keep the cert up
: D
I'm trying to be a fire fighter. The his is amazing information.
Awesome!!!!
