a 12 year old boy on my sons baseball team was hit in the chest while pitching (on 7/1/17). He went into Cardiac Arrests. Died. 2 parents at the field from the medical field performed CPR...brought him back. He got released from the hospital on 7/3--NO brain damage or heart damage. This was primarily because of CPR being administered right away. A real miracle :)!!! I say all that to say I would love to see you do a CPR video . Keep up the good work!

Gear Barrel take a CPR class, become certified, this should be mandatory for adults.

Great video. As a nurse with lots of wound care experience, Betadine is used to clean the wound/blisters. Then apply your Vaseline adaptic and preferably cover with a non-stick gauze pad. Excellent videos. Just recently subscribed and getting ready to start my own medical prep channel. 😃

You know a lot of folks, IMHO, think that the stuff you are demonstrating here is just over the top Prepper type nonsense, but I disagree. Most folks will experience various types of burns in their lifetimes and knowing how to treat these wounds properly is an advantage. So, Skinny Medic, you do bring value to those of us that want to learn. Thanks.

As a welder/fitter I constantly deal with superficial and partial thickness burns. For me, on superficial burns I’ll use comfrey salve and aloe with lidocaine. Partial thickness burns, depending on size I deal with on a case by case occurrence.

If you damage the roof of your mouth place a piece of cheese between your tongue and the roof and create suction with your tongue against it pressing tight against the roof this will provide pain relief

Awesome video! I recently got a ~3% second degree burn working on a motorcycle. I'm glad to know that I treated it correctly. Long term, though, I would not recommend using the petroleum dressings on the wound. After the second day or so, those dressings started to stick to the wound despite their petroleum impregnation. The telfa type pads seemed to work much better!

Hey. Not burn related, but Im really interested in expedient wound treatment with houshold, or commonly available items, should you not have proper equipment available. For example, could compressed towelettes be used for wound packing? Could Knox gelatin be used as a coagulant/wound sealant? That sort of thing.

Interesting. I just finished training and am now a combat medic and our procedure for burns was a little different. We were taught to never put cream on partial or full-thickness burns. We were taught dry dressing only. I see what you mean with the dressing sticking so I’m interested as to why there is a bit of conflict between what you’re saying and what we were taught. Might be because we are short term care. Not sure. Great video though!

While cooking my husband accidentally poured boiling water onto his mid section!!! Within an hour or so, blisters appeared. But I did know I could cool it first so I didn't. I sprayed it with Dermaplast, the he applied double antibiotic ointment, and we put sterile gauze on it. The only thing I didn't have was medical tape so general tape and banaids is what we use to get us through the night! He wanted to pop the blisters but our daughter and I convinced him not to! Tysm for your videos!!!

One treatment I have seen a study on with positive results for 2nd degree burn treatment is potatoes. The potatoes are pealed, washed real well, sliced thin and steeped in a weak water/iodine solution. The thin soaked potatoes slices are then placed on the burn then wrapped with gauze. The potato acts as the bodies natural skin preventing infection and aids in healing.

Cling film is the best thing for burns. It only sticks to itself, is waterproof and you can continue to cool the burn by pouring water over the film. Awesome stuff in an emergency!

Whats about Compress with Silver or Honey ???
    So
1st Degree Burn I do just after sun or cooling gel
    2nd and 3rd Degree I do
1st stop the burning by removing if possible
    2nd cleaning with sterile Pads
3nd cleaning with normal Temp water
4th do the painkiller on 2nd Degree Burn Type
5th Then a watered or vaseline bandage.
Do not touch without being Sterile and do seal the spot and do not touch a blister.

It depends on what book you read ... You can do try sterile but just be prepared for it to stick to the burn ... the don't want moist because if your putting it on a large body surface area you can lower the core temp and that isnt good either

I got get a partial thickness 2nd Degree Burn on my left foot on “10-02-2022” with a small 1 quart pot of boiling water that I was taking up the stairs very early in the morning to place in my bathroom sink drain because the night before I had poured some lye drain opener and as I walked the stairs the handle from the pot suddenly and unexpectedly just broke all the hot water fell onto my left foot. I let a scream and ran to the bathroom and place my left under cold water for like 20 minutes. The pain was excruciating, painful enough to make a grown man cry. I went the urgent care center closest to me which was a block away they put “Silver Sulfadiazine 1% Cream” and gave me some medical supplies like gauze and non adhesive Oil Emerson films and a NSAID for the pain. Actually the Urgent Care did bare minimum, when I did research online and I found other people who went through the same thing that I went through, a lot of them said go to a hospital unit that specializes in burn wound treatment today “10-13-2022” that’s where I went. They did a much better job, then the urgent care did. The burn doctor specialist first remove all the dead skin and then he put on some some of the cream and he took a nice high quality circular gauze and wrap it all around my foot and very happy burn unit’s way of doing it. Always find a hospital that has a burn unit. Don’t wait time at regular hospitals or urgent care centers. And please everyone check your cookware for any worn or loose handles. You don’t to place yourself or your love one through a unnecessary pain experience. Heed the warning.
