Cheers, I am not sure that many decorative knotter would agree with you though. Can I interest you in this one, as you very rarely see anyone do the Diamond Sennit Knot ua-cam.com/video/zwrDK6ri-oc/v-deo.html Thanks for taking the time to view and also make a comment, very much appreciated.
Just starting to learn knotting. Decorative knots have all turned out a mess so far. This was my first successful decorative knot. Thank you for a simple to follow tutorial. I got this one on my first try.
When I first started, I too had lots of messes!!! I now have some of them hanging from my Ditty Bag, so that I can show others that I too found it very difficult to start with. Thanks for taking the time to view and also make a comment, very much appreciated. You may also be interested in my Blog Posts here: igkt-solent.co.uk/blog/
Your videos are so concise and to the point. You always make great videos and with complicated knots like this it makes me want to try them because you have no mystery left the way you do it! Great work keep it up.
Great looking knot, well explained how to tie, i love your pace in the videos. It's perfect speed to follow step by step! THANKS for driving this channel with all this detailed step-by-step!
I do love that knot!! What is even better about it, is that it is not seen very often in decorative knotwork. You may also be interested in my Blog Posts here: igkt-solent.co.uk/blog/ Thanks for taking the time to view and also make a comment, very much appreciated.
You are an excellent teacher, thank you! Still, I am so clumsy that I used no constrictor knot. Instead I used a little zip tie! And now I have failed after my fourth attempt at the tractor tire on a 5-strand paracord rope that I successfully flat-braided and tied off. Aaarrrgh!
Well, I solved my problem. Instead of using 5 strands of the same color I bit the bullet and bought 4 more colors. So now I can make my 5-strand rope and tractor tire knot without getting confused.
Handsomely - not heard that for many a year!!! Thanks for taking the time to view and also make a comment, very much appreciated. Are you more of a practical or decorative knotter?
Thank you Johnny! You are a man of your word! Great video and it was a updated! Tried this knot with 8 strands and it was a disaster! Please do send the link to send pictures of the knot work. GREAT Video!!!
I only took from Ashley's that it can be done with even more strands, I will have a go also. If you want to drag and drop a photo, this is the link: 📸 goo.gl/mQgf8E

Just exactly what I needed! I agree with the interminable naming of everything as a "diamond" knot ...couldn't be more confusing ...especially when hunting for a You Tube tutorial for what you've aptly re-named as "the tractor tire tread." After seeing the "Lighthouse Fob" by Snellman at a Seafair festival, I thought it would be a proper challenge for my stage: 6 strand braid, matthew walker, star knot, crown knot 2 pass, and finally, the diamond knot 3 pass. The latter was giving me trouble because I'd never seen it. Thanks for your clear instruction and cheerful style. Where do I send a photo? D Hopkins
I assume that you are referring to the Weymouth IGKT meeting, just gone? I would love to see what you have created, please feel free to drag and drop your photo here: bit.ly/yourknotwork
Can you please do this knot with paracord? I managed to do it but it was extremely difficult to keep the cord in the correct position in order to tie the knot. I was hoping for an easier way to incorporate this knot into my work.... thanks, Jimmy
Well I did not know that, you learn something new every day. Thanks for taking the time to share this information, I always love to hear about knots being used!
Very nice presentation. Thanks. This knot cannot be tied while stoned. Don't ask how I know this. Even in the clear light of day, I could not keep track of all the strands until I bound the loops in place with a constrictor. I use practical knots in everyday work, clove hitches, sheet bends etc. Just getting into decorative work.
Hey how are you doing have you understand the way I make Ashley's bend and the way I make the diamond knot into the footrope knot and the footrope knot into the diamond if so have you noticed way that the direction of the knots change as you do so its a bit like the earth having a magnetic flip as what is a crown knot becomes a wall knot and what is a wall knot becomes a crown which goes from clockwise to anticlockwise or the other way around
Yes, thanks for that I have found it with the number you gave. I do know that I have another book where it actually names the knot, I will have to go and look through all the indexes.
I found out that a diamond knot is a footrope knot inside out by the way I tie Ashley's bend I tie a two strand diamond knot and then roll it into a footrope knot which is Ashley's bend
Not only to I use polyurethane varnish but I start with two coats of shellac. I also use tinted varnish to it give the bellrope a deep dark brown luster. Probably not canonical but I like it and they stay preserved forever.
🎀 DECORATIVE KNOTS 🎀 ua-cam.com/play/PL7nysDkNnZHeVqirqzmWRE5-NiG6Ce-TZ.html
This is a Spanish ring knot tied with 4 strands ,which is a over 2 under 2 Turks head tied with 4 strands.
The "Tractor-Tire-Knot" gave me a chuckle. I think the name will catch on in future generations

@@KnottingKnots Thank you for your reply. My comment was meant to be a slightly sarcastic joke. I should have added a corresponding emoji.
Well done!
Thank you, a rather lovely knot this one................. do you plan on using it on something?

Sometimes it takes a few tries to understand where all those leads are supposed to go.............. glad that you got it 😉 😉 😉
It's a beautiful knot but the folding knife/"pointer" is also nice.
Aha, that is my trusty Myerchin. Also has a good surface area for some scrimshaw work........... which I want to get done.
@@KnottingKnots that's a video I would like to see
СПАСИБО /THANKS YOU/ ! 👏👏👏 💪
Glad that you liked it, have you now made one?
Nicely done. I believe the operative phrase for this one, 'work out handsomely'. 80)

Yeah it's tricky in paracord. Take the time to bind the loops down with a constrictor when you lace up the first stage.
Good one, very clear.
Glad that you liked it, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. Are you just getting into knotting?
Have a ropemaking display at the Hervey Bay Historical Village
Muito bom seu trabalho parabéns
Can you please do this video with 2 colors?
Cheers Mate!
The easy way to tie a diamond knot is to tie a footrope knot and then roll the crown down over the wall knot as the two are the same knot inside out.
Well I did not know that, you learn something new every day. Thanks for taking the time to share this information, I always love to hear about knots being used!
Very nice presentation. Thanks.

Some are really tough, the Fiador knot is one that really gets me.
This is very cool and the vid is coming soon I promise it should be out it two or three days
Mmmmm, wonder where I have heard this before?
Johnny Debt lol hmm i wounder 😂 but this time i will get one out well hopfully
If you roll the bottom of the knot up over the top you will see that the direction of the chevrons changes
I will have to have a go at rolling the knot and see what happens. THX

Give a man a chance, the warm weather has just arrived and making the most of that with Bear (dog). ;-)
I did feel the Earth's magnetic field flip when I tied this knot.
OK by the way nice video
1452 a lot of come call it Ashley's bend

Here is the link to a two strand tractor knot by Marsala. Much simpler to do. ua-cam.com/video/zBczpQmc2N0/v-deo.html
Based on the Carrick lanyard knot but dressed as a cylinder rather than a ball.
Hell ya first again
Aren't you supposed to be at skool?
Johnny Debt yes lol but you put the vid out before i hade to go down the drive lol

Off to look that one up, do you by any chance have a ABoK number for that one?
Too much chatter before you start. Just get on with it, so we're not bored and falling asleep before you even start.
You are the master of your own keyboard, you can mute or play at 2x speed to ease your pain 😉 😉 😉
Very punny.
Cheers!!! You doing anything exciting at the moment?
No, not really. I'm kinda waiting for warmer weather here so I can varnish a bellrope I made for my friend's retirement but that is about it.
Love a good bell rope, I have never varnished one, is that your preferred method? I personally use a 50/50 mix of PVA glue and water.
Not only to I use polyurethane varnish but I start with two coats of shellac. I also use tinted varnish to it give the bellrope a deep dark brown luster. Probably not canonical but I like it and they stay preserved forever.
Sometimes when I do Cat-O-Nine tails I use a dark furniture polish to give it a nice aged lustre. Would love to see a photo before you pass it on.
