I don't know if this has already been stated in past videos, but i absolutely love the little pop-up vids where you give extra context post-recording. Incredibly helpful stuff my guy!
Yesss! Been rooting for Andy all season! Operation Italy literally saved the season, otherwise I think it would have been a boring majority/go with the numbers ending.
1:20 why avoid if youre the second pick?? Wouldn't it make more sense to avoid if youre the first pick? Because the second pick will basically match your first pick, and they will have a better second settlement?
it's because the better ore matters a lot more than the better wheat. especially because the 9 wheat was a popular block. i would rather take the lead on it than match it. There were not an abundance of great picks after the 5th choice so they had relatively the same choice of mediocre spots on the way back! hard to explain all that in a short amount of time!
I love your channel. I really enjoy when future Hugh explains things! Also I love the survivor reference. The finale is going to be epic! My biggest struggle with catan is beginning, any tips?
thank you!! For placement tips, a good place to start is always thinking about what is your path to 10 points? I highly recommend either pursuing road or army as it's very hard to win without one of these. From there, go path of least resistance... if everyone is playing road, you might be better off buying a lot of dev cards, or vice versa. Can't wait for the surivvor finale!
20:28 -> you city. The hand was so good for settling though and prepping to take road. I think with the 9 ore you can city quickly too. It's a taste thing, I hate porting my road stuff for city so I woulda settled. But I think city is also very valid.
maybeeven deterring red from going for road. I have seen cases where the obvious road player does't get it, bc. he is late on starting building and then the rolls don'T come and then you're in a non-stop road battle when you need to get the final points....
True true. The reason I even felt to ask was because it was a rather inefficient city, so I’m glad you brought that up! Maybe settle pass or trade for another sheep and double settle was the play!
On second city, could you have built to the 9 12 without road builder, saving road builder to connect for longest road? Plays most of your cards and saves ore for dev?
it's an option, but i was able to do both of those options with also getting the city. I tend to like to delay taking road as long as possible so as not to paint a bigger target on my back!
Blue here. That rob was me thinking my only chance was road so I robbed you bc of 2 cities and my road comp. I had blinders on and missed oj's 9. I enjoyed the game and hope to play you again soon!
man's too honest telling the table he lied haha. I always try and do a round about convaluted way of saying what my dev/points are without lying, especially if playing IRL.
So happy you are listening to the comments ! Nice analysis and the little pop up for the settleman placement is really nice ! The quality keeps getting better, and i'm here for it !

thank you very much i'm glad it's helpful! plenty more where that came from!
Yeah! Love those too
The Survivor reference was awesome. Never made the connection before to threat management in Catan and threat management in Survivor.
yes!! lol. It didn't dawn on me until recently of threat management. Can't wait for the finale!
RF20 here & this was a fun game - the board was fun and very close game :) loved watching it here too..
great game man! hope to see you in game again soon
Omg the survivor 47 reference!! Pls tell me Andy is one of your favs
big andy fan!! operation italy was epic! what about you?
Yesss! Been rooting for Andy all season! Operation Italy literally saved the season, otherwise I think it would have been a boring majority/go with the numbers ending.
@@fitzchivalryfarseer9646 i know these last few episodes have been great! Can't wait for the finale next week
Same here!

Exactly my thought
First pick wins there. Second matching is a losing play. That was what Hugh thought, and we saw in the game that this is what happened.

The operation Italy quote 😅 season 47 honestly is one of my favorites and I think the best in the new era. Great video
It’s a great season!!! Last night was awesome too. Thanks a lot man!
hi love your content do you play different expansions like cities and knights?
i've actually never played anything other than the base game!! do you play the expansions?
@@hughcatan the only expansion ive played is cities and knights and i highly recommend it

watching you figure out your setup was like watching a toddler figure out a new game haha. I was praying you take that setup! Is so good!
lol1 sometimes i rush into things and have to slow down. it was agreat setup just couldn't quite close it!
Love the Operation Italy reference! Who you got to win it all out of this final 4?
Haha thank you! I got Rachel that last episode was just too strong for her! What about you?

My man Hugh looking sharp
thanks brobram!
I think I would have secure road and settled midgame, but your decision was waaaayyyy better, I just didnt see it.
thank you! sometimes it's not good to take road too soon it puts a target on your back! best to delay as long as possible
Did you pick 8410 2nd because of the wheat? I would have thought having road in hand was useful there. But maybe less so for 4th player?
it was solely for the starting wheat!

ggs man! I get it in hindsight. I get a little competitive in the moment, great game and hope to see you again soon!
I love you admitting you lied : ) shows character
Thanks brother!
I think my only questions is why didn’t you make 5611 your second settle? You’d start with a road?
I wanted to start with the wheat!
Most handsome Catan player
lol lido says thank you 😁
Not starting with the road as a road player was a mistake
it's a fair second guess!
On the min. 21 I would road build to 9/12 and start conecting for road.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 it's a good play!
I would’ve road built all the way to the 6 2 or 8 4 at 21:00 lol
so many roads lol

i felt bad lol i couldn't help it! I gotta be more vague

thank you for coming on this catan youtube journey with me! I really value the feedback you guys give, always looking to improve!
operation italy comments! Whos u cheering for? im sam at this point but think rachael has it
i'm rooting for sam at this point but definitely think rachel has it as well. Great season!!
first holy
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
why are you telling people you lied? LOL you feel bad about it? Weird
i don't think it's weird. lying has a place in the game but i don't want to overdo it.
