Shout out to Watchtower Database, you hack frauds
You guys should talk about Mystery of the Batwoman, which is a movie from The Animated Series, which is kinda underrated in my opinion
Do Zorro movies or G. I. Joe
Maybe his new origin should be that he’s mad people keep calling him Mr. Freeze when it should be Dr. Freeze and he’s out for revenge
That guy is genuinely incredible
Mr. Freeze definitely has some of the best/most heartbreaking quotes. “To feel the warm breeze on my face again, oh yes I’d kill for that”
My favorite is "Yes, it would move me to tears...if I still had tears to shed."
My favorite Freeze quote is from Cold Comfort. "Search your hearts for the thing you value most, then despair, for I have come to take it from you." That one was, pun fully intended, chilling.
This one really depends on knowing the context, but I always loved "There might be some momentary discomfort."
I think the one that I've heard more than anything was "that trick won't work on me again, Batman"
Yes it would bring me to tears if I had any tears to shed
"Think of it, Batman. To never again walk on a summer's day with the hot wind in your face and a warm hand to hold. Oh yes, I'd kill for that." Breaks my heart every time.
We take everything for granted until it’s taken from us
I could worry about that after realizing I could live forever
It gives me chills....badum tsss(you can shoot me, now)
@Nathaniel Garza Would you really want that 🤔?
To never again be gross and sweaty trying to sleep on a hot summer night next to a woman whose body temperature somehow rises to like 3000 degrees in the middle of the night and yet she *STILL* takes all the blankets
One correction: in Meltdown he didn't just "turn bad", he retaliated once his "saviors" tried to murder him in cold blood after his condition got worse. In his case it was self-defense and revenge to those people specifically. He doesn't even fight Batman really, he warns him not to interfere so he can finally die.
Batman beyond is so unnecessarily awesome it bothers me
@@mmmghool Yeah, we don't deserve it really.
They forced his hand. Also he even broke out a dad joke when he came back for revenge!
Derek Powers: Freeze!! How?
Victor: It's something I've kept in cold storage
@@Rejukem Well, yeah, but still I wouldn't say that he "turns bad" Can't really do that if he goes after villains with no conscience. But he isn't kind, sure. He even kills his would-be killer and makes a chilling call-back to one of the first scenes in the episode ("there would be a momentary discomfort").
@@SamuraiSnaaake "chilling call-back" 😏
Mr. Freeze's last lines in the DCAU being, "Belive me, you're the only one that cares" to Batman as he lets himself die will always hit hard.
(Like you mention with Mr. Freeze currently in comics, she gets unfrozen, and joind her husband in crime to become Mrs. Freeze.)
Belive me? Batmas? You have heard of auto correct haven't you.
That's Dr. Fries to you
@@cable7152 didn't have to be a dick about it
Without a doubt the most tragic Batman villain

This isn't so much "Caravan of Garbage: Heart of Ice" so much as "Caravan of Mr. Freeze Related Stories, I Guess". Not complaining whatsoever
Please guys rename the video to this if you can
More like Mr Liar Movies!!!
I actually really like the way they wrapped up Mr. Freeze's story in Batman: Arkham Knight. If I remember correctly Nora gets unfrozen and is basically like "What the fuck Victor? You've turned into a real asshole." and he's all like "Yeah, you're right." so then he takes off the suit and they just die together. It's really the only logical way I can see that story ending.
Have you seen Harley Quinn. They do a good job with freeze and nora there as well
@@kmshana94 two episodes later she was gettin plowed in a car by that Zeus guy. like, why did they do that
@@fuegodrinkscauseusuck6100
Realisticly a woman still has her needs fulfilled after being frozen for years and her one true love died. We saw all that from vicfor's perspective. We know his love and dedication for her but we literally know nothing about nora's perspective. Grief hits people different dude.
I think she's gonna be a minor/major character next season.
I still think it just shits on the tragedy of Mr. Freeze and it makes many fans literally angry with rage.
@@KEVMAN7987 well luckily its only canon in the show. I mean btas made batman/bagirl canon to the point where he got her pregnant so really we are at the whims of the creative heads of whoever the fuck and that changes like every quarter
Terry McGinnis: "You gotta get out of here Freeze. The whole place is gonna go."
Mr. Freeze: "Believe me. You're the only one who cares."
That broke my heart of ice.
😢❄️
Victor should’ve gotten a better hand
@@PunchCounterpunch_Lizzy we only get the cards were dealt
At first I thought he meant "you're the only one who cares about me".
Watching it again as an adult, after experiencing depression, I realise what he actually meant was "you might want to survive; I don't."
😭😭😭
Batman the animated series is just legendary. The epic storytelling,The animation that still looks great,The Legendary voice cast and Finally The dark stories.
To this day as an adult I still watch it and I am moved in a way that no other show or movie can do like this one
This is a really nICE video from a couple of COOL dudes.

Very surprised that there wasn't an extended bit where James & Mason laughed about how Batman defeats Mr Freeze with a thermos of Chicken Soup. The greatest moment in Mr Freeze's entire history.
I've always wondered--If the chicken soup was hot enough to defeat Mr. Freeze, what would have happened to Bruce if he had drunk it?
The real beauty of Heart of Ice is that there's so much well placed story told in 22 minutes. People tend to remember it as a 2 parter or a movie. But nope, just epic award winning storytelling.
I think the arkham knight did a good job book ending the story of victor and nora. Nora was conscious the entire time she was frozen and was heartbroken with how cold(haha) victor had become and when batman unfreezes her she convinces victor that there is nothing anyone can do to cure her and she’d rather live the rest of short life with the man she loves than continue being his obsession
At least with the Batman Beyond episode, he only turned murderous against the corrupt company people that tried to kill him. Not so bad when he's just killing murderers
That's what made the first episode so great as well. He is almost more of an anti hero in a way. Taking down actual villains.
"So, Mr. Freeze is bad, then good on repeat...!"
*MAGNETO (FROM THE FOX MOVIES) HAS ENTERED THE CHAT*
Comic Magneto is way, way, way worse in that regard. The dude heel turns like a hotel door.
The only way they got around it now, is by putting all the X-Men in a morally dubious living position.

BTAS: Sir Anthony, we are putting together the greatest animated show ever made. Would you be interested in one of our best roles?
Anthony Hopkins: A cartoon? Sorry, can't do it.
TrAn5foRmErs: **slaps him in the face with a wad of cash**
Anthony Hopkins: You sonuva gun, I'm in!
But inexplicably, Michael Bay ends up getting an energetic performance out of him?! Hopkins is chewing the scenery in that movie
@@TobeWilsonNetwork Since that dumpster fire, he became the face of WestWorld and won an Oscar, so I think he takes risks with the hope that the project will be unexpectedly good. It’s a mostly effective system.

Got em. The arkham origins dlc is the retelling with nora and Boyle, but not the famous boss fight. The famous boss fight is in city...

Two-Face got a serious & Dark reboot in The Dark Knight & The Riddler is about to get the same treatment for The Batman, it's about damn time that Mr Freeze got a second chance as well. Hands down one of the best & most standout villains in Batman's rogues gallery
No Arnold did it best. Arnold cannot be replaced that's like replacing Chadwick boseman as black panther

@@bobsandwich3431 Arnold would have really killed it with a better script, a less goofy costume, and a detached, dry performance like his Terminator's (well, pre-Genysis and Dark Fate, that is).
Same with Tommy Lee Jones and Uma Thurman. They could have been incredible in their roles, actually.
@@josegregoriobencomogomez4958 Tommy Lee Jones Two-Face angers me because there's little nuances that fit the character even though Jones was clearly phoning it in. The pronunciation is actually “freeze” even tho it’s spelled “fries”. If it’s a German last name, the second vowel is the one you hear. “Two vowels go walking, the second does the talking”. Now you know
That actually makes a lot of sense if you have read white knight 😂pretty cool
And knowing is half the battle.
This video is years old now so I doubt many people read this, but I’m marathoning a bunch of Caravan of Garbage and I went from the O.G. Superman movies straight into this. Anyway, a fun fact I read a long time ago was that Kevin Conroy studied acting at Juilliard, where his roommates of all people were… Christopher Reeve and Robin Williams.
7:16 I can't unsee Batman old man typing with 2 fingers...
Props to the editor for using Supernatural to represent people constantly dying and coming back to life. I’m a big fan of that show but yeah, it happens constantly😂
RIP Kevin Conroy ... The man 🖤 ... The bat 🦇 ... The legend ... The 🦇Batman 🦇
You can tell Batman sympathizes with some of his enemies, since a lot of them went through a traumatic event that turned them into what they currently are and some of them weren't originally bad people, they were just pushed to the breaking point. Like that episode with the girl who doesn't age.
In the most recent dc continuity Mr Freeze was able to revive Nora and cure her using a serum from Lex Luthor. They start working together but because of the serum Nora starts going a little crazy and ends up leaving Mr Freeze. She also has the same condition as him and uses his ice weapons.
This episode rocked my world as a child. Legit still can't get to the end without tearing up a bit now
"CAN'T CRY SNOW IF ICE MAN BODY WATER FROZEN WALK
MR FREEZE ICE SNOW WALK MOVE WATER BODY."
So true. So very true.
The Grey Ghost only needed one episode because his episode was perfect.
That Guy Says: it's true that the Arkham Origins DLC "Cold Cold Heart" takes a worthy stab at adapting Heart of Ice to the Arkhamverse, and that the final battle there does feature Freeze learning your moves and Batman having to try different things to finish him off. But the classic instance of that fight, and the footage shown of it, comes from Arkham City (which though much later in chronology, was produced and released years earlier.)
I kinda like how this video isnt just a retrospective of one episode of animated series but more an overview of a characters trajectory in the universe
Looked at my subscriptions, nothing new was out. Jump to homepage and new Caravan of Garbage. Nice.
The real question is why does DOCTOR Victor Fries decide to drop his doctorate and go by MISTER Freeze?
Doctor freeze does have a nice ring to it
Because he's like a surgeon with that Freeze gun?
Note: An archaic leftover from when surgery was done by barbers. Many surgeon's go by Mr, Mrs, or Miss in the uk despite having Doctorates.
Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde reference maybe?
Probably because he's not practicing the art of medicine, but the art of fucking people up.
Really fun one! Always enjoy it when you guys talk DC Animated Universe. Hopefully we can do a crossover someday!
I FREAKED when I saw this come up!!! I LOVE "Heart of Ice"! I could write a ten page essay on it, I swear. Mr Freeze is my legit favourite DC character. I actually recommend this episode to people to watch as a short film because it's so genius. But are you trying to tell me...we almost had Anthony Hopkins- my second favourite actor EVER- play him?! I love Michael Ansara a LOT and he's perfect but WOW.
Im glad you cover movies from the 1900s so much.
"Noin'een" is my favourite number.
Big mistake: Batman Arkham origins has the cold cold heart dlc while Batman Arkham city has the amazing well known boss fight
ermm...in the episode meltdown the researcher who brought him back straight-up tries to murder him so they can dissect his body and work out what went wrong so his rampage afterwards is kinda justified considering that he was betrayed in such a...cold way.
Invoked "Doug" but used a graphic of "Disney's Doug?" For shame.
LMAO. Premium quality nitpicking.
Keep up the good work. 👍
Not that anyone cares but you talked about the Mr Freeze dlc for Arkham Origins, the prequel game but showed Arkham City footage
Shhhhh, let Ben use his favorite footage. He's a good good Ben
You're right. Nobody cares.

saw something where the director was talking about the recording session where he was asking the actor keep trying to take the emotion out and how chilling it was when he got to that point where he just sounded cold and dead inside. Great stuff.
"Changed everything in one frozen stroke!" C'mon guys... Let it go.
Got ‘em
An all time a classic episode. I can't imagine being part of a team that redefines a character for all time
Arkham City, the Mr freeze fight (the greatest boss fight ever) is my favourite good/bad dichotomy demonstration of Victor.
They use his voice.
Helmet open, nice frees
Helmet closed, scary evil voice changer frees.
I think the funniest part about Mr. Freeze is that he's a PhD. Why doesn't he go by "Dr. Freeze"? What made him chose to downgrade?
I have nothing left, not even my doctorate!
I really hope Victor comes to the big screen giving us a story like this...he has so much potential to be a beloved villain
I personally disagree I think that Batman and Mr. Freeze: SubZero was a pretty COOL movie
That was a ICE joke.

I love hearing about this show, even when it's stuff I've heard before. This show is timeless
That Dark Knight Rises bit with Mr. Freeze and Mason killed me hahahaha
Maso: Grab dat gem
Victor Fries: Say no more...
I know it's just a joke when they mention how well Kevin pulls off the Bruce/Bats separation by summing it up to "professional voice actor Kevin Conroy".
It's worth noting though, that Batman was not only Kevin's first Voice acting role, but his first full voice role AUDITION.
He's a Julliard trained actor who once roomed with Robin Williams, and has full training as a classic theater actor. But this was his first voice over role. And it changed his life forever.
It blew me away when I found out that little detail about him. Like the lego batman version: FIRST TRY!
Mr Sunday Movies doing Batman The Animated Series. I've never clicked on anything so fast and I'm commenting this before watching the video. I hope there's more!! Mask Of The Phantasm or other movies or episodes!!!
Mr. Freeze is genuinely one of my favorite batman villains. You can honestly sympathize with him in why he does what he does, especially in this series and the Arkham games
His sacrifice in Harley Quinn was my favorite moment for the character
When you gave the hint last week, I went and found my old VHS of this episode and gave it a good watch.
Oh goodie, there gonna be a new instalment of “H8 mail but hate has an 8 in it!” I’m so excited! (Great video as always, you never fail to make me laugh.)
RIP Kevin Conroy
I think that the Arkham series did Mr. Freeze perfectly, you bring up the Arkham Origins DLC boss fight in city but his side mission in Arkham Knight is a wonderful and bittersweet ending for him
"Yes, It would move to me to tears, IF I still had tears to shed"
12:48 I always wished we had Patrick Stewart as Mr. Freeze in live Movie (That wasn't Batman and Robin). Could you imagine
I think the New 52 twist is awesome. It really brings him more in line with Batman's other villains and makes him all the more unsettling in my opinion.
More of a general thing than just this video in particular, nice work Ben from Canada
This show turned Mr. Freeze into my favorite villain. The tragic backstory works so well. I had always thought that was his origin. I had no clue about Me. Zero.
That batman beyond/of the future episode is pure nostalgia for me, I taped it as a kid and watched it 100+ times.
just watched this yesterday, great episode
Mr Freeze is one of the more sympathetic villains, especially in his return in batman beyond
Correct me if I’m wrong.
His wife actually has a debilitating disease and he freezes her to stop her from disease from progressing. And he realizes that not only does he have to sure his wife’s disease he has to properly and safely unfreeze her to the way she was before hand because humans aren’t meant to be frozen like that because of water and ice damage.
Comics gonna comic
That ended up being true, but in Heart of Ice itself there's no indication his wife is still alive. The true villain pulled the plug on her cryo stasis, which was the only thing keeping her alive, and that's why Fries goes on his roaring rampage of revenge. He has nothing but memories of her now; she isn't coming back, he took that away from Fries forever. The show had limits about depicting death, especially early in its run (later not so much.
@@jasonpratt5126 I appreciate this response.
the cut at 10:22 cracked me up

I liked his last line from Batman Beyond, where he basically tells Batman, “You care more about if I live or die than I do.”
Man, i really wish i grew up with this show
I always thought there was the public Bruce Wayne, the real Bruce Wayne, and Batman. I could be wrong but I remember him having three different voices in that show.
You're absolutely right.
A really good episode of caravan of garbage, the fake memes were the best part
I really loved his Episode on Batman Beyond. Terry being hopeful that Freeze can get redemption but Bruce always knowing hes gonna be bad. And Freeze turning bad in the end.
14:29 had me laughing way harder than I think I should be laughing.
same lmao
Great episode boys. Loving the bit about the late great Kevin Conroy. Forever Batman and forever in all our heats.
Fun Fact: In the first episode that the Joker appears during the Adam West Batman series (I think episode 7), Joker has a blonde female accomplice hanging out in his hideout whom he calls Harley. So, that is her actual first appearance.
That may have been Harley, but she wasn't Quinn
@@TheKingOfRooks Close enough for me, she has all of five minutes on screen with next to no dialogue from or including her. So maybe the blonde Harley is a psychiatrist by the name of Quinn, or maybe she was just some rando named after a motorcycle. But I choose to believe she is the same since the second animated Adam West Batman film, Two Face starring William Shatner in the titular role, Dr. Quinn makes a cameo appearance and Joker gives an acknowledgment that they know each other which causes her to let out a minor gasp of shock.
Arkham City really sold me on Mr Freeze I think. I love the animated series but having played that game first and him almost being this kind of wild card because his motives are completely irrelevant to the main plot made him genuinely interesting, I do like Cold Cold Heart in Origins too, though I don't think it surpasses the original Heart of Ice which it is just an extended adaptation of, and then the Freeze DLC from Knight I think was a really nice send off to his character, which gives him the best conclusion in any media I've seen
15:34 Can somebody make a supercut of all the times James and Mason have had that exact interaction at the end of a video?
James: "Swing on by."
Mason: "Like Batman."
James: "Like Batman would and has."
Oh man, that shot from requiem for a dream bought back some baaaaaaaad memories. That movie screwed with me.
The semi-continuation of Mr Freeze's and Nora Fries' plot in Harley Quinn season 2 is also pretty great with the ending of that series' episode.
Love this episode. I named one of my daughters Norah after Mrs. Freeze.
My favorite trivia about how Conroy voiced Batman / Bruce showed why he's the best Batman. He knew that😢Bruce Wayne was the character, but batman was the man. Bruce's voice is the put on.
